This would just take time pressure off people for the first 30mins so they wouldnt need to feel bad about shifts or other stuff like that holding them up

Another thing worth considering if all else fails: you can create your own full cover (visual / line of sight) using minor illusion, but that takes an action.

The benefit of that tactic is that it's reusable until the enemy passes the spell DC

that'd protect and absorb hurt from nearby allies, while the owl is supposed
to be the "primal stalker" aggressive archetype in combat, though the owl
would naturally be used for scouting out of combat too

and as a barbarian, you'd fight on the frontlines right alongside either

the spirit even gets your physical resistance while you're raging too, so it's kind of tough in a fight

and you're obviously a big burly physically resistant guy- but it also gives your ally resistance to any damage
if the creature should hit your friend anyway- and as if that weren't enough, if they then through all that still
tries to hit your ally, and hit them, you can with a reaction reduce that damage, that is already halved by a lot

• disadvantage to hit anything but the raging barbarian
• gives resistance to your allies from the struck target
• further reduces that already halved damage if they decide to hit the resistant ally with disadvantage

not only does it have a taunting effect we both know is incredible- it also gives any target that isn't me
resistance to any damage it's attacks would do against it- and we're obviously resistant ourselves due to rage
and with the goliath trait, we can even shield ourselves too, if they do hit us

and then we pick the sentinel feat, so we can hit stuff during their turns

sentinel is legit one of the best feats in the game imo

what also goes under the radar with sentinel, is that you can't even disengage from it

being able to stick to an enemy that runs away is so damn strong if you're melee

we continued forward when none of us had spellslots left, lost one person, then rhea(my character) ran back to safety
then the two who pushed ahead died as well, since they were only two

one apparantly got swarmed by enemies alone, then the other tried to run, and fell into a chasm

basically, we should have just went back and gotten a long rest after the splitting mud zombie fight
