with the telepathic feat, you can also detect thoughts once a day for free
also, telepathic feat let's you increase wisdom or charisma by 1 of your choice

oh wait i could have just gotten the ruined background
you could, but that only give you the choice between "skilled, alert, or tough"
oh yeah i wonder if i could ask the DM if i ever get to use this char to get darkvision since my char doesn't see in the regular sense
so light should have no effect on if i can see or not
you're a paladin, so you could pick the "blind fighting" fighting style
i think faceless seems like a fitting background for a char who won't remove hes helment
let's you see anything within a 10ft range regardless of light, even if they're invisible
only exception is if they're actively hiding
is there a language u could associate with the great old one?
depends which old one it is
ancient aboleth likely "deep speech"
elder outer beings "abyssal", maybe
arch daemons "infernal"
i'll do abyssal cuz it sounds cool
"great old one" is very broad in what they are
common and dwarven cuz usefull
ancient celestial beings can also fill that role
my paladin has lower AC then liger
did you not start with heavy armour?
atk bonus for paladin is str?

wasn't an option >.<
all the different classes state "plus anything from your background"
if you can wear heavy armour and are a knight character/paladin
you can easily start with heavy armour at least

so now higher then liger
by 1
or wait same as liger atm cuz hes now got studded leather
for crossbow as well?
attack bonus depends on the weapon you use, not the class
except monk that has a trait that makes stuff scale with dexterity
for you, you'd likely be using big weapons that scale off str
but ranged weapons typically scale off dexterity
except for thrown weapons
i got a greatsword, long sword and crossbow atm
is dullahan's a thing in dnd?
oh passive perception
14 for me i think
passive perception is whatever your perfecption bonus says
so if it's +4, it'd be 14

concidering my char only speaks with telapathy this should mean no outsiders can hear what i say unless they detect thoughts

That's a pretty neat way of going about it
Char is suposed to be a dullahan so hes cursed and has no head which is why i wanted the telepathy feat cuz it's the only way he can communicate
They often do have their heads but thought it more fun and interesting if mine didn't have his
There's an anime about a guy who dates a dullahan and she has a text-to-speech device to type her frustrations out
It's really cute
Found an early version of the new Grim Hollow subclasses from playtesting
Hmmm
Sanguine Thief has access to spells like Arcane Trickster and got a pool of D8 equal to his sneak attack dice
When he makes a sneak attack he can get one D8 sangro dice back
You can also use the D8 you get from a sneak attack to heal yourself but that ability can only be used a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier
Oh yea Intelligence is your spell modifier
Those are the first features yoi get at level 3
Rest features are also cool but I'm not gonna rant
It's cool
I love it
Concept is cool
Assasin who literally steals your blood
He also makes blood daggers out of them (lvl 9 feature)
And you actually are doing blood/lifeforce stealing and gaining health points back from it

Durarara!!
yes!
Damn ep 5 of Mighty Nine hit me so hard.
<@&1415565266556813373> hey y'all, turns out the next two weeks are going to be packed for me..... unfortunately there will be no D&D sessions this month. We will reconvene in the new year and aptly start the next arc in the Frozen Peaks (Iceland simulator). As your DM, I order everyone to have a good holidays, eat lots of food and stay warm, I WILL hound you down
Ty all for sticking with Kavinor as it began early this year, we are making good progress
Yeah... it sad
Another artwork of a Disembodied
Super cool blog post that delves more into the lore of the Disembodied and some named individuals there
So much inspiration and flavour to add to your dismebodied character
I just realized they should've updated the draconic bloodline subclass to include the gem dragons from Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons
missed opportunity
Hey Aizo maybe you'd like this
It's a homebrew rogue subclass that is pretty much the mastermind and that other tactical subclass
But it's made good

Rhea?
Gotten to S4 of stranger things
obviously it's D&D coded but oh my goodness if it was lore-accurate Vecna these kids are cooooooooooked
Well. I did it. Couldn't hear a damn thing but I did it.
For the record, I have NO idea how to cha-cha real smooth.
@plush thicket Yaromir out in the club
CANNON
Wanna talk with me about Grim Hollow
I wanna talk about lore stuff and other cool stuff of Etharis
So... D&D?
Did you guys know Disembodied can be from any race?
Since they aren't actually a real race just a group of people changed to a type due to an event
But that means you can make Dragonborn Disembodied
Lanehsi Disembodied (of which there actually exists an example off in the Grim Hollow Campaign guide)
Wechselkind Disembodied
Yup that one also has an example
Been learning a lot about Grim Hollow verse

I think Justin said there isn't any till next year
Okay (sad noises)
yesterday started new irl campaign. my new orc barbarian. im very smart
Holy
Hiw the fuck did you get so many low rolls
I mean like
It's the epitome of dump stats
All your important stats are pretty good with even a 19 on strenght
But everything you don't need as a class you absolutely suck at
But that’s fun to rp
Literally Grok from Vox Machina
Yep
at 4 int you probably forget to breath
9 wis helps me to not forget to breath 🙂
I honestly think I saw a couple of spells that had a baseline of atleast 4 intelligence so it can have an effect on the creature
Cause otherwise they are just too dumb to understand what you wanna make them do

Grog*, and he has an intelligence of 6 so he knows what he's doing
she undead?
I did an alternative build for her where she's the reanimator artificer
my only issue with those, is I want them to be primarily necrotic damage focused
and reanimator is lightning
yee- in her backstory she died but was resurrected through powerful necromantic magic a long time after her death
but she doesn't know who, what, or why
cool
also, you usually think of necromancers as evil selfish personalities
this character studied the divine initially, to learn about resurrection, and when she found the flaws and limitations
she sought beyond and found necromantic magics- though her still being quite young then, didn't know/see this school as bad/taboo
and only studied it for the purposes of empowered resurrection, and being able to free peepos from the pain of death
she dead from her backstory because the teachers of her academy executed her for taboo practices

Not really no. I don't think of Necromancers as evil selfish personalities.
Vecna is evil
Well that's because Vecna is DnD's Mannimarco
Although he isn't nearly as cool as Mannimarco
true
Also
I am an avid believer in Elder Scrolls system on half races
And I do not like DnD's original way
Half Orcs instead of just playing a fucking Orc
I will say I like that 2024 are changing that stuff
Cause you really don't need twenty half races to play your niche fantasy
You can do so by just being one of the race normally without having to mechanically make a whole new race
Well guess you can sit right next to everyone else in this channel cause seemingly everyone here hates it
all classes getting their subclasses at level three is dumb
Maybe because I'm new but I really don't care much and just would take what I like and implement it
Agreed
But some of the new stuff is cool
Some of the feats that got reworked or class subclass stuff
Like Warlock being able to use all Eldritch invocations on other damaging cantrips instead of Eldritch Blast is great
If you need to spam an attack most of the time atleast have one that fits your flavour and character
Pyromancer Warlock can take Firebolt and Undead Warlock can use Toll thr Dead
Psychich Warlock with Mid Sliver
Weapon Masteries I also like
So yea I just see it as a more big 5th edition and choose one as your groundbase and implement stuff that you like from the other version and the stuff you don't can just be left out
That's atleast ny view and kinda how I would do it to parts when I DM
Using 2014 base and taking stuff I think is an good edition from 24
I like blood hunters
Ooh
I uh don't like them

Sorry I just don't like playing a Vin Diesel movie ad as my DnD character
Oh by the way
If you like Blood Hunters though
The much cooler version of them are the new Monster Hunters from Grim Hollow
The Monster Hunter (levels 1-3) - Grim Hollow 5e Class - Ghostfire Gaming https://share.google/4Euv5cuJaZ67gstuv
The Monster Hunter (levels 4-8) - Grim Hollow 5e Class - Ghostfire Gaming https://share.google/kYIjy8vRus7yHrw8d
Look at the two blogs here
I like the Monster Hunter class A LOT
you can be an orc in dnd, they're just considered "monstrous" since the race itself is "savage"
Tea you can but they are treated as Monsters more then just a race
half-[insert race] is usually hoomans having a child with the other race, which-- you guessed it.. "humanizes" the other race
Stoopid
Biased cause Elder Scrolls is my favorite Fantasy verse and there Orcs are also just a race
thank god
You don't need Orcs to be the Tolkien monster kind to have them be as enemies
As great as Tolkien is I don't like seing his influence in other media
well dnd was inspired by his work so...
Elves in DnD are also moreso like Wood Elves from Elder Scrolls but they actually are missing all the cool stuff
Yuuup and that I don't like
not really
you could obviously backstory it so you can play it- but under normal circumstances, this wouldn't really make for a trustworthy ally in a group of would-be heroes
true
Why do they hate the civilized races? Why do they want to bring destruction and kill stuff?
It's just "Ugh destruction ugh kill"
When I learned about that I was equally annoyed
Also depending on the world the DM can make any monstrous race normal people
because they believe everything else is weak, and must as such be routed
Why? AND I HATE ALLIGNMENT
it's as per their god "gruumsh"
Still not a fan
they do have a pretty cool lore though- as being the first defenders of the realm, against invading fiends and such
I played a tortle in the first campaign I joined here

tortle life cleric
ended up falling to "power word kill"

Orcs in Elder Scrolls for example are mostly living in tribes and split as a race cause they follow the Code of Malacath which leads them to their lifestyle. They still seek glory and strenght but they aren't some brutish idiots who just kill everything they see. They infact can be a very civilized people and there are maaaany Orcs who become city Orcs and part away from that tribe lifestyle. Even those in tribes aren't evil or just killing machines. They are normal people who just follow their culture and their belief.
you can always backstory it so you can properly play a race- granted it's not like, an actual beholder and such
No
like being a orc of unusual empathy or intelligence or something
also in dnd there are different orcs in faerun red and grey orcs. grey orcs are kinda nomadic-ish
The solution isn't to do it yourself and fix bad writing
that's an ogre
yee, I don't think dnd has playable ogres

at some point, I want to play a grung, green reaper ranger
poison on more poison
That subclass seems cool for what it wants to do but it's not my thing
But probably a pretty good Ranger subclass
grung gets to apply extra poison effect and damage to projectiles- green reaper stacks onto it with it's own

Just don't touch people since grungs when they touch someone they give them poison
Similar exists in Elder Scrolls but they aren't another race or subrace but just Orcs of different culture and different environment

Mister I don't optimize
green reaper adds 1d4 poison to their projectiles- grung adds another 2d4, though theirs has a saving throw to it
although a grung cleric would be funny
I made my Highway Rider and Haunted Sorcerer Disembodied with no olan on how to actually use them very effectively in battle and yet Justin is the one accusing me of only being an Optimizer
I still need to figure out how I can make some good combos and playstyke with my Disembodied Haunted Sorcerer/Undead Warlock
Pick the tgings you never wanna fail at
for now I just picked stealth and deception
Highway Rider I think intimidation and persuation amongside stealth are things I'd like expertise in
Had some other stuff too
Reminds me that I made Jo-Rah too with no actual idea of how Sangromancer work but I liked the flavour and had a story already on it with a character before I even learned properly how it works

since misfortune bringer is based around luck and unluck, I was thinking I should at least have expertize in either deception or persuasion
I picked the rewarded background, just so she could start with the "lucky" feat
I normally make story and character first and then try to look into the subclass and class and how to make him effective and cool at the things he is supposed to do
she's always been lucky, but lo and behold, it's because she drains the luck from everyone around her
I will watch but I am prepared to judge and criticize
so kina like domino from marvel?
Yesn't?
You pick many proficiencies and those skills you pick later become expertise but aren't at lvl 1 from what I remember
WHAT DID I SAY
AIZO IS THE REAL OPTIMIZER AND NOT ME
I DON'T PICK MY BACKGROUND TO GET FEATS BUT FORNMY STORY

my character is a black cat who drains everyone else's luck
of course she needs the lucky feat
I swear to god if I get one more time accused of being the guy who only tries to optimize and min max Imma rage
cannon made a quick heroforge model of her
hand crossbow and throwing knives as weapon of choice
She looks so srugges out
Probably because she doesn't have cat eyes but human eyes
Go and fix it Aizo
If you want proper artwok then just look up Elder Scrolls Khajiit art
did not mean to post that
Tabaxi

I made her a black furred tabaxi, because you know.. black cat
unlucky
misfortune bringer

she doesn't use spells you know
Misfortune Bringers literally have an spell list
not a spell list
So Domino
an effect list
it's more like battle master than anything else
you get "jinx points" you can spend on various effects after you mark someone with your evil eye
and you restore all the jinx points on short or long retss
Like maneuvers
yup
Huh they really don't have spells
I swear I remembered them having access to spells too
they start with 4 jinx points, and get 2 additional at a certain level
and then have means of restoring some of them- and they fully restore them on short or long rests
so you're pretty much just a rogue, but you have these extra effects to play with
like battle master and their maneuvers
By the way
I FUCKING LOVE GRIM HOLLOWS ART AND ARTISTS
Like look at this
The detail of this old and roughed up child plushie
That tells a whole story
The figure who haunts him may be his deceased mother or caretaker
Or someone else close to family
I think misfortune bringer would be really cool to play, and roleplay
The teddy bear might be his arcane focus
Cause it is what amplifies his connection to the spectre haunting him
big bad attempts to run up to majora to squish him
but oops! he fell over his own legs, and lost his movement

The visuals are so important to tell a story
Not as great as using Command Poop on Vecna
By the way while showering and reminiscing some stuff
I actually found out that technically Jo-Rah has damaged a Lich at lvl 1

too bad vecna is undead
If h can becomea god he surely can poop when he wants to

Guess someone wants to get sense lifeblood enpowered magic missiles and sprinkle kf theft if vitae
Wait Grok is the CEO of Critical Role?
sounds like you're trying to target me with a spell
better hope you beat my save

Magic Missile doesn't need a roll
Then I cast fireball
The same I already said to her but with my blood version of fireball
Circle of Scarlet gonna be really tasty

Those 4 to potentially 8 d12
And then I also 5 temporary hit points for each target that failed the save

circle of scarlet roars and echoes throughout the caverns
and as the dust settles, you find the rock formation you just demolished to be completely gone
as Rhea laughs from somewhere off to the side, unscathed
Sure buddy
Live in your own fanfiction
Aizo gonna end up becoming that one guy from those DnD Horror Stories that has main character syndrome

no that's you
invades Jo-Rah's dream, and creates a scenario where he has succeeded his blood studies, and his entire villages welcomes him and praises his work

Rhea is the furthest from a protagonist

but she is supposed to be good at illusions and mental manipulation

Yet you glaze her all the time you can

By the watch this
You like this Aizo
I do have a soft spot for the "wicker" theme
blood druid could be fun to make
Oh sorry how about I just start biting her and whip her to death with my sense lifeblood empowered Crimson Lash
Watch her you will like her
She is funny and cool and cute while actually talking about how to make your stuff creepy and scary
So she is basically you

perhaps I should watch that one
I'm in the dilemma where I have to make you all eerily unnerved by Rhea
while at the same time you feel oddly compelled to assist her

Here id the subclass if you don't wanna watch her amzing story on it
WillowWares is great
I can't wait to meet Pumat Sol in The Mighty Nein
plays circle of blood druid
casts rite of the blood moon on Jo-Rah
.
.
sic em'

Circle of Blood druids are amzing
They are just perfectly on that line of being a supporter but also being able to do plenty of cool stuff on their own without just needing to stand still and just cast support spells on their teammates
would be cool sometime to play a blood druid

lots of fun flavour stuff
like blood sacrifice
and telling your allies to "sic em'"

Yea
Or that old Shaman vibe of smearing paint/blood on the warriors before thy go into battle
Also GH Pismatic Dragon stuff with Gormadraug
I actually have two Circle of Blood druids already although one I can't share cause it's for future campaign stuff (if I ever get to do it)
But the other idea I had was making a Lizardfolk Circle of Blood Druid who wears bone armour and stuff and is following the culture aspect of not wasting anything
Cause in lore Lizardfolk have a big culture about not letting things go to waste and this is why they eat anything they kill and make weapons or instruments or other stuff out of the bones of what they killed
I'd make an orc blood druid or something, and basically be a "up and coming" tribal shaman on a pilgrimage or something

Would be cool
Would also fit the Elder Scrolls Orcs
Elder Scrolls Orc tribes have wise womens who are too old to be wifes or perhaps have been the mother of the Cief or a former wife of the last Chief
They are the ones passing on tradtions and giving advice
Have often a skill on magic and or alchemy
And also can be the ones who call upon their God Malacath
The heck is that?
Here's an interesting house rule I thought of.
When a spellcaster is out of spell slots they can still cast spells but when they do they get a point of exhaustion
like if they ran out of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd etc. spell slots they can technically cast the spell but in doing they gain a point of exhaustion
a bit of a risk/reward situation
spams greater restoration for free costing an exhaustion level, to remove one level of exhaustion on self

but if you upcast a spell you get 2 points of exhaustion
I like that rule though
might want to limit how far uo a caster can go- like exhaustion is bad
but being able to cast multiple 9th level spells, just costing an extre exhaustion or two in a combat is strong

normally lv20 only ever have access to 1 9th lv spell after all
and for good reason

I know it's mainly for low-mid level characters
But you'll mainly use this rule in dire situations
Ok rule
If I were to make houserule for spellcastibg without a spell slot I'd make you do a roll and then decide what effect happens
Casting magic so lightly will cost you either a lot and have unforseen effects or maybe do nothing
Or you get lucky enough to get your spell to somewhat work right
Jekyll and Hyde made in Heroforge
when i see khajiit i'm reminded of the khajiit like to sneak song
Elder Scrolls is trying to pull me in again but I won't fall
I can't start modding the hell out of Skyrim again
Don't play modded simple
Then I don't play Skyrim cause I already drained unmodded Skyrim out of all its juice

Necromancy is typically seen as evil in D&D for the idea of using a body without a soul. Or vice versa, where a dead person is not allowed to rest and is used against their will for nefarious schemes
Can you make a good necromancer who uses it for good? Yes, that's how you have grave and death clerics
He’s a northern Viking named Gunjir who learned how to play the violin in prison
That's because raising the dead and dealing with the supernatural tends to drive a person insane for handling divine magic
A Viking with a violin is a dangerous combination
Smack em with the fiddle and then play a nice jig over him
yeah, that's how you get Scandinavian death metal
Or just roar out a guttural war skald as you fight
OMG I need a mod for this
Scandinavian Death metal bard
Translations in CC.
The farewell song played by Einar Selvik aka Kvitrafn of Wardruna when Ragnar leaves Kattegat for Paris in Vikings Season 04 Episode 06, aired by History TV . Translation included in CC.
Translation is taken from an Internet user, but lost track of him. Will link to their profile if found.
The song is made from three diffe...
Viking with a war drum, just playing it over the horizon
I was debating my instrument the drum, but my headcanon is that learning the fiddle in prison helped him control his vikingr anger, now he cracks jokes and stuff but is still very much deadly
Also
He’s a halfling
I have never played a bard before, but if I do I will 100% play a centaur college of sword bard with a heavy mongol theme
He has a flute but he just throat sings in combat
This is an amazing idea
My idea for mine since he has a criminal background I’m gonna dip into rouge as well to make him kinda like thorfin from Vinland saga
Except just a small man instead of a child
An alternarive skull for my Disembodied Highway Rider. A more fiearsome and darker looking one.
Probably gonna stick with my normal one but was a fun thing
This could be how people who only have heard rumors and tales of the spectral skeletal bounty hunter imagine him
How he actually looks like
Also made a more Disembodied looking version that looks more like the Disembodied artwork
I mean WotC and the Bard class have been moving away from the stereotypical musical Bard theme anyways so yea all kinds of Bards channeling magic through their art whether dance, poetry or music
Viking neo-folk duo Eihwar is back! Warrior cries, horns, pagan rituals, and war drums ignite Eihwar’s new Nordic folk anthem: “Hugrheim”. This word is derived from Old Norse and means realm of the “hugr” — which translates as “mind,” “thought,” or “spirit.” Produced by metal label Season of Mist, home to Heilung and Danh...
A buddy send me this one and I honestly like it a lot
Would defenitly use for DMing when I bring my players to Valika
Took me a good bit of work but I got it done. Look for Lizardfolk Circle of the Blood Druid.
lizardfolk fit that subclass well, too
since tribal savage
wouldn't be weird if they had like "shamans" and such
They do have shamans from what I read of their lore
But I specifically wrote for Jo-Rah's tribe that they don't have a shaman
Since Etharis is overall more rare on magic I wrote that Jo-Rah's tribe has lost their cultural connection to magic
So they haven't heard a shaman for maybe 3 generations or more already
So his specific tribe was already lacking that magical connection and Jo-Rah even as a youngling being a spellcaster and magic user was a bit of an oddity that separated him from the others but the elders tolerated it since they do remember that in their past they did have shamans and tribesmen who would practice magic.
clerics also have some story siginificance in grim hollow

they have less power than they did when actual gods were their source, and by extent also rarer now, since the arch seraphs/daemons anf others
who took up the mantle so that the world wouldn't fall apart, obviously have less power to "spare" for clerics, and cannot take as many
but the masses still remember how powerful clerics were, and expect the same miracles from the clerics of grim hollow
and obviously, in a dark, godless world, divine miracles are naturally wanted by the less fortunate masses
a lot of classes I want to play
blood druid being one of them

Same
Blood Druid honestly seems to work really amazing from reading it
But yes I fucking love Grim Hollow so much
- redemption paladin
- kensei monk
- mercy monk
- necromancer wizard (or reanimator artificer)
- primal spirit barbarian
- blood druid
- some sort of owlin(maybe gloomstalker, maybe beast path barbarian)
The new subclasses and class that will come are also so amzing
Hehehe that's where Sangromancy comes in
the beast path barbarian takes on animalistic features when they rage
Sangromancy can bring back peopleto life
I think it could be fun to roleplay an owlin beast path barbarian
that uses their talons as their weapons during combat
I thought about foing a Dragonborn one that has a spirit dragon that shows his inner connection to his ancestors
So the Dragonborn manifests a literal part of him to show his true self
The Dragon
you mean the ancestral guardian subclass, yes?
I mean this one; https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/barbarian:beast
We were talking around each other?

the beast path makes the barbarian themselves grow animalistic features when they rage
Do you wanna look at the Monster Hunter and it's subclasses?
so I wanted an owlin beast path barbarian
and use my talons as my weapons during combat
A new class for Grim Hollow

but speaking of, I forgot to add the primal spirit in the classes I said before
Yea that can be cool
Primal Spirit I defenitly love though cause you don't need to care for a specific animal
Appearance can be anything
And it can be large or so in size
So much utility already
And it scales up nicely
with an owl as my spirit, as the "stalker" damage version
and a giant red panda as the "guardian" tank version
You can do so much with Primal Spirit Barbarian
Flavour wise
Giant turtle, big lion, an octopus
the guardian version has the same reaction as the redemption paladin has
where your pet can use it's reaction when an ally within 5ft of it takes damage, to instead have your pet take the damage
Eagle, Moth, Dragon
really good for protecting allies- and not only that, but your pet also "rages" when you do, making it resistant to physical damage
on the flipside, the stalker when you make it a flying animal has the "flyby" trait, letting it attack and move away without triggering opportunity attacks
so you can just attack all you want with your bird
The subclass also solves the Barbarian problem of only being amazing in combat but not have much utility unless strenght based stuff is needed
this thing
owls are aggressively territorial, but obviously not stupid
so while they used to be the king of the sky, they went nocturnal when the eagles moved in, instead of fighting them in the open
however
they are more than happy to bully sleeping eagles during the night

●Haunted Sorcerer/ Undead Warlock mukticlass
●Highway Rider Rogue
●Circle of Blood Druid
●Primal Spirit Barbarian
●Monster Hunter
●Sanguine Thief Rogue
Those are the subclasses and classes I wanna play in the future
For those I got kinda plans already
oh right, there's a 3rd undead class
requiem bard is basically the "pied piper" but for undead
Next Grim Hollow version has a 4th with a Barbarian who has spirit/ghost rage
This is the only quick source I can find for it
eh
I think the rage is supposed to be like "you enter a semi corporeal form" kind of thing
with the increased movement and ability to move through creatures
doesn't seem like the subclass does a lot for barbarian though- might be fun for roleplay

Better to watch the Gjosyfire video on it
naww I read the link you just sent with their abilities

I agree with the article too, though they aren't ranking the fractured barbarian
but 5/5 for the primal spirit I agree
3/5 for the dead one
fitting- it's not bad, but doesn't seem to do a whole lot
Each Grim Hollow subclass empowers you to play DnD as an anti-hero, whether you're a Rogue who wields blood magic or a Paladin who took an oath of slaughter!
Unlock the Grim Hollow Player's Guide on D&D Beyond:
https://ghostfiregaming.com/GGYT_GHRF_2025_9_569
Late pledge to unlock these and more subclasses: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...
But the flavour
The guy in the vid have examples
Like one of them that you may be from a village where everyone besides you got slaughtered and their spirits are haunting you and you hear their voices
As an example
eh
sounds like the haunted one sorcerer, or one of the ways eldritch clerics get their powers
instead of that, I'd rather envision them as perhaps the shaman from a tribe, fighting alongside the dead/ancestors
Yea but the haunted sorcerer has one guy as spectre and makes him magical
But yea the text seemingly in that article goes over the mechanical stuff and not the flavour
Cause like that poison thing is mean to be disease of which the spirits that haunt you have died from
Like the weeping pox that is very big in Etharis
I like the requiem bard a lot, I think
like, you're a traveling bard who always had a certain connection to the macabre
and you'd travel around, playing music to calm the angry dead, and eventually a connection was formed between you and them
you also don't need that high a level to get the cool things
3rd level for first things with bardic inspiration
and lv6 for the animate dead bonus
the requiem bards bardic inspiration also have 2 unique features
in that the recipient of them can spend it to do extra damage, or spend it if they'd die
to not die instead
it certainly is a bard
I specifically like how it adds additional ways to use the bardic inspiration
also the lore stuff is basically being a pied piper for the dead
calming the deceased with music
Hmm I thought more of awakening the dead by playing the song of the dead
i wanna make a shadow monk for stealth build
@pearl storm here me out- dnd character
- dwarf
- artificer
- battle-smith(they have mechanical pets)
backstory: you're a lone survivor of a long extinct species
you wake up having thawed from ice, not knowing what happened to the rest of your kin
waking up to a world with far more primitive technology than what you're used to
and the elder scrolls talk reminded me of my nighblade in eso and so i wonder is there a stealthy very high potential dmg melee build?
rogues
specifically assassins, or perhaps with some multiclass shadow monk
Yesnt. Just no dwarf. Dwemer aren't like Dwarves at all in a physical or other sense. They are elves. The are only called Dwarfs cause another race (we assume the proto Nords) meet the Dwemer and to that race they were small cause that race were kinda giants

the assassin rogue auto crits anything in combat that have yet to get it's turn, for example
But besides that it's okay for a DnD version of Dwemer
They're the stand-ins for Dwarves
An in Elder Scrolls Universe Dwemer would need a bigger origin story explanation on how they are still there
Cause in Elder Scrolls verse they didn't die out or something but quite literally poofed away out of existence (as far as we know)
you get your very own "steel defender" aka mechanical pet
Fitting cause Dwemer primarily used Constructs
and you can even have another smol one, via the "homunculus" infusion
Only for big war kinda things there were more then their constructs needed

maybe felis already is what i wanted
felis being my assassin char
is why assassin is part of the highest hitting multi-class
lv2 fighter for action surge
lv3 rogue for the assassin subclass
lv3 ranger for the gloomstalker subclass
what you do after that is really up to you
but with those, nothing does more damage than you
Dwemer constructs

the steel defender specifies that you choose it's appearance too, so you can literally have them be this
only thing is, you can't make it fly
you can even spam heal the defender, because it allows you to actually heal it, via the "mending" cantrip
i wanna try and make my shadow monk as stealthly as possible like u only see me if i let u almost
if thats even possible
that's just shadow monk already

i like it already
you can permanently be invisible for free, as long as you're in shadows
I feel like Dwarves and Gnomes make great artificers
i don't get cantrips do i?
though of course you're still subject to invisibility rules
like you get out of it, if you do certain things
i would love to have control flames to make sure i'm allways in shadow
you get certain spells you can use via ki
only casters get cantrips though
i see
specifically "shadow arts" is your spells
"shadow step" and "cloak of shadows" is what makes the shadow monk, a shadow monk
free invisibility and free teleport, as long as you're in shadows
they made a slight mistake when making the shadow monk though
the "darkvision" part, should have allowed you to see through magical darkness as well
because since it doesn't, you can blind yourself with the "darkness" spell

although darkness does put you in "shadows" even in a bright place, so you can go invisible or teleport
I'd probably take the "eldritch adept" as a shadow monk
so I could take the "devil eyes" from warlock, that let's you see through any darkness
cleric and monk for me
arcane trickster is alot of fun and i really like assassin and just stealth in general

both like monk this must mean monk best class
mercy monk and kensei monk for me
indeed
can I get an amen for the cleric mains that allow you lot to play monks and rogues without fear of death?
Fighters are my favorite class
kensei monk build like the "iai" fighting style
basically tons of movement, with the "slasher" and "mobile" feat
so enemies can never catch up to her after she hits them and runs
her stats are fixed though with 18 in both her main stats since I just created her not to be played
long death monk won't die
is that a challenge?
sounds like a challenge
technically

the ability says "when reduced to 0 hit points"
some effects are too overpowering that they don't even do damage, and just outright kills
so technically that ability wouldn't work on that

but under normal circumstance, yes very tough to kill from normal means
mercy... dunno what that means
kills both of you with a goblin at lv1

dm being a meaning
derail hes plans
oh u want us to go there? goes somewhere else

i did like that one but long death felt more fitting for my chars theme
so that just means i need to make yet another char
they both put peepos to rest

also, from purely a roleplay/lore standpoint, I find mercy monk versus cleric funny
cleric praying all they can, wishing for their god to grant the miracle or resurrection to a dead friend

Way of mercy monk but he's also a grung
I like that mercy monk is basicaly just monk, but you have access to healing or extra damage if you want
plus can cure ailments or even resurrect at later levels
now that is funny
actually, just grung monk

I heal you I hurt you and so on
Whenever a Monk heals with Flurry of Blows this is what I think about...

not me having to play Cleric for like 7 campaign in a row because no one else would play a healer XD
Apparently Jester healed the most out of everyone in campaign 2 from casting cure wounds 85 times
A hilarious, fast-paced fantasy tavern song about a long-suffering cleric who’s had enough of their reckless adventuring party. From the barbarian who forgets to rage to the rogue who steps in every trap, this song captures the chaos of a real D&D game—where strategy takes a backseat to bad rolls and worse decisions.
With lively folk melodi...
this is your song
I can even hear you saying the title
in your voice
probably because I have said it before
I've literally played every subclass of cleric because of those campaigns btw
even the Xanathar's ones
Join my campaign you won't have to
apparantly the twilight cleric is the strongest cleric subclass(if you don't count healing, which is obviously life)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j13dPqRpEkw Still my favorite class
They are Basic......HAHA YOU THOUGHT!

tempest should be hardest hitting caster, I think
Twilight clerics are busted
I saw an insta reel pn that cannon but I can't find it cause my phone is ded right now
I'm not sure even sorcerer or wizard can hit harder
simply due to tempests channel divinity
Not even a gif
yeah Tempest is kinda broken ngl
no
When will I have to send you an prperly written out backstory for Jo-Rah?
create water
chain lightning
channel divinity: destructive wrath
Ok
I try to do it this month
I have it all I just need to sit down and start writing it all out into one
balance wise, I don't know why life, tempest and twilight clerics gain free access to heavy armour
though I'm not complaining
ok monk
real footage of a rogue getting caught by a monk
The Naruto Huyga clans fighting style with the open palm and then finger ppont to the chakra nerves is how I imagine Mercy Monks are
would be more like the open-hand subclass
the open hand can even push enemies with their flurry of blows too

Setting chakra points free by an open palm hit to the exact point and striking at those too hurt when
As Beauregard once said "Dope monk shit"
specifically the lv17 feature
but the top one "open hand technique" is really what makes them "open hand"
with a combination of the "prone" and the "knock back" part
I just imagine you send someone flying backwards

Ok yea that fits a lot with teh Hyuga techniques
open hand is basically the "normal" monk subclass
basically "I'm a monk, but I could be more monk"
the rest of the monk subclasses is more uniquely specialized
DRAGON MONK GO BRRRRR
Four Elements is basically Avatar
Some people view Sun Soul as DBZ
And that one I'd probably like to play one day too cause you know
Avatar
Naruto
And such
I like mercy monk because it doesn't change how you'd play monk really
you're still hyper mobile and difficult to pin down, you just now have access to
healing and cures and such
it doesn't even cost you extra ki to do after a certain level, as you can add it for free when you do flurry of blows
Critical Roles Way of the Cobalt Soul is also interesting
yeah
Way of the Cobalt Soul monk multiclass into Rogue, you get Batman
might not even need the multiclass
doesn't batman punch and kick?

and throw things
the multiclass is for better stealth
and sneak attack
The self made God the Dwemer tried to create
D&D lore is what Skyrim lore wishes it could be
Skyrim lore...... SKYRIM LORE::::: SKYRIM IS JUST THE %TH ELDER SCROLLS GAME IN THE WHOLE SERIES
IT'S ELDER SCROLLS LORE
if that's true then why don't we have a game set in Akavir?
Tell me anything from DnD lore that will make me go oh wow not just basic fantasy
that's an impossible ask for two reasons
We have had 5 major games each of them in a different province of Tamriel..... and the first two are so old that they are way outdated to be counted so we only had 3 games that properly explored provinces of Tamriel
1, you're too much of an elderscrolls hyper fan
and
2, what is "good" is entirely subjective

true
for me, I really liked anything to do with ilmater
others might not find it interesting at all
We got just 3 of the 9 provinces
I know. And it did it everything better
nah
you're just biased
Of course I am
But say how did you go into Elder Scrolls Cannon
Have you only played Skyrim?
Did you also go into deep lore hole?
Old one or remaster?
Oh yea that's hard
But Oblivion overall is my least favorite
Cause Todd Howard had a massive boner for the Lord of the Rings movies in that time and made Oblivion lean mcu into Tolkien style
better watch your mouth about LOTR

Which just isn't what Elder Scrolls is supposed to be or should be
did you see the end of our Tomb of Annihilation game?
LOTR is great
Listen I like Tolkien and we can all appreciate his stuff but I hate his influence into the fantasy world. Let Tolkien be and don't make your wannabe Tolkien universe
watch this
ES explores more and doesn't just make generic fantasy or tolkien wanna be but goes into its own thing and that I like
But yea if you guys ever wanna know more lore hit me up I consumed every media on it on youtube and know great places to read up on lore
I got enough D&D lore to keep me going
same
Guess not everyone can enjoy good writing
first spell it right
oh you do not wanna go there
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYBM3myR914 Here's another good vid if you wanna know the history of Critical Roles world
Take a deep lore dive into the history of how Exandria came to be, from the Founding, to the Calamity, to the Age of Arcanum, and beyond -- narrated by Exandria's architect and our very own Game Master Matthew Mercer.
Join us for the premiere of Critical Role Campaign 3 on Thursday, October 21st at 7pm Pacific on http://twitch.tv/criticalrole a...

Anyways
Elder Scrolls reigns supreme

Now bakc to DnD
yes, back the D&D
the better series
Your Shadow Monk can be a beast interms of utility cause outside of combat you got unlimited teleportation and just need a bit of darkness
Shadw monks can be potentially much more stealthy and better at the Rogues outside combat stealth
just watched it, damn that's rough
But Dendar
Oh right you didn't know about how the former party Aizo was in fucked up
Oi Cannon do you got the rematch too though?
what?
They did do a one session rematch for fun from what I remember
speak english plz
The final of the Tomb of Annihilation
After they got their canon bad ending where they failed you did fun session where they replayed the final
Yeah they fucked up, but it's nothing The Luminous Being can't fix
world go boom
yeah... no
What do you mean?
We got a fighter who rushes into battle and nearly dies in the first time we fight
A Cleric who tries to make skeletons sleep
And a Ranger who fucks around with stone statues and tries to steal their fake bow made out of stone

yes
Ever played with Mordenkains?
O by the way
I have no big opinion on them
I only know the two versions of them for Lizardfolk and have no idea how everything else is
Looking at the Lizardfolks I'm not even sure if I could say that one is better then the other in my opinion
But I also have no particular dislike on one of them
Nevermind I like Volos more
If only from flavourful and lore text it is pretty good
And the stuff is okay
I think Mordenkains tried to make the hungry jaws ability more but it kinda isn't that great really
Constitution is for most players no matter what class pretty solid so temp hp based on that rather then proficiency bonus is better
You get hungry jaws every short rest buf can only use it once
While Mordenkains you cam use it an equal amount of times to your proficiency bonus
Whivh realistically speaking means 2 to 3 times cause most campaigns are in that lvl 13 end or so
And it only comes back with a long rest
In Mordenkains they also just removed Cunning Artisian
You can debate how good that feature is
It can be ok for low levels and later on not be important
Or maybe ok depending if your DM makes the items you a bit more unqiue depending on what beast or construct it is you are using the parts of to create the item
Ok done with my rant
Back to it
Only thing you could criticize on Volo are the fixed ability score improvements where as Mordenkains lets you choose it yourself
That coupled with how that use of the racial asi from Mordenkains is seemingly now the standard in many DnD communities and in the 2024 rules might make people who play Volo's annoyed as they are in that term technically depending on it playing worse on their characters they make
Ok end of my tired ass talking shit
Mordenkain's technically has overwritten Volo's
What that mean?
like volo's isn't "canon" anymore
Ah
Yea well
Hmm
But hey we got the Heritage system to look forward to from the next Grim Hollow version
I just wanna see how many different heritage trais there actual are and how they function
Seems like an interesting system
@plush thicket you know I would now play Baldurs Gate 3..... if I could......
Never knew about it really until you now made me hooked on DnD and I learned stuff
Now I'd actually like to try it out but I don't got a modern console to play on and I don't know if my laptop is good enough for it
Gather your party and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a mind flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.…
