#YO ANYONE DOWN FOR DND ON NON-STREAM NIGHTS?
1 messages · Page 20 of 1
a hit die is normally just for healing yourself during a short rest
hit die normally is used to regain a bit of health on short rests- I'm assuming for sangromancy spells, they determine power or something
I don't know where to see sangromancy spells though
Same
i wanna see how it is to be tanky
in the Grim Hollow players guide
Ok but how different would that make it from normal spells then?
Like is a hit die limited or?
yes
long death monks aren't full tanks, but still pretty tanky for a monk
you get temporary health each time you down a foe- and after 11 you become
almost immortal
you have one hit die per level

and you get them back more slowly then spell slots
Yes cause spells I can even get with a short rest
But hit die with long rest
yee this, but because you're a sangromancer, like I posted above
you get a special feature called "full-blooded" at level 2 along with your subclass
yup and at lv.1 i have 17ac and the raven queens blessing which i can use to quickly shield enemied with my own body
you get half yuor hit dice back per long rest
depends on the source
or do i only lose them after taking dmg
Oh
you can only have on "set" of temporary HP at once
if you get more then the first set vanishes
So I get two D12 for being second level?
these extra "hit die" are 1d12 instead, and you regain all of them on a long rest
3D12 at lv2
Like equal amount of 12dice for level?
1 + your level
Ah
SUPER COOL
Okay that makes it much more playable of course
Very cool
so if durring combat i use touch of death on 2 enemies i lose the ones from the first enemy and instead get the ones from the second enemy they don't stack?
yes

still good
so when i get that at level 3 it will be 7 hit points
unless i get my wisdom to 18
then it becomes 8
keep in mind, "killing a bunch of enemies" in a fight, won't happen just like that
maybe you will kill one, the rest of your party kills the others, and so on
you aren't guaranteed to get multiple refreshes of temp health in a fight
but still very good

i know just used the example to help me understand

if i do get my 7 hit poins and take 4 dmg if i then kill another with it i go back to 7 right?
You can always to chose to replace temporary hit points for example you have 1 and your about to gain 5 you can chose to take the 5 and “lose the 1”
Ok
So
For Blood Spells
One hit dice
Or one of my 12Dices that I get cause of my class
My 12dice will reset whenever I take a long rest
yes
12dice =12 sided dice
I don't want to confuse myself with the DnD slang
My one 6dice will reset with two long rests
it's rounded up so you get one back per long rest
and at lv2 you'd also have 2 1d6 hit die
Ok nice
Oh do they also increasw with each level?
yes, that's the normal way hit die works

your subclass just gives you a few extra, but the "extra" ones, can only be used on spells
You normal use hit dice's for heals?
on short rests, you can spend the normal hit die to regain a bit of hit points, based on how much you roll

Ah I see
Besides that not?
And also
Do hit dice generally only determine tge potency of something?
"hit die" are normally solely used for regaining hit points during short rests
sangromancer just has unique interactions
Yes but I mean you use hit die there too to determine the potency of your heal
So is it for Sangromancer also like it?
That it will determine the potency of the spell?
i don't kow when or if i am gonna multiclass. imma let narative decide that
I haven't seen the sangromancy spells, but I'd assume it works like that
an example of a sangromancy spell
again, all the spells are in the GH player's guide
that is rally strong wow
What is so wow about it Aizo? I'm too baby DnD too understand it properly
I did hear that the Sangromancy stuff is pretty broken, when I was looking it up
I wouldn't know though cause I don't know normal DnD or wizard stuff
its basically more hp. which is good. especially at lower levels
it can make it so a wizard can actually take a hit without dying
Wait I’ve got a character idea if we are starring level 1 a strength based rogue
look at it like this- if I'm lucky, at 5th level which is when full casters get 3rd level spells
I might have 38 total hit points- that spell, if you get max rolls, can give up to 36 temp hit points
That is a 3rd level spell so you can access it from level 5
of course, the average would be like, 18 or something
still busted mind you
I say this or a dex based rogue still but a half orc or Goliath or something
yee
you'd have to discuss with cannon in session 0
Huh? I thought this spell is for or against a creature though?
its for allies
Yh I will I unfortunately will only be able to stay at the session 0 for like 30 minutes as I’m currently in a Tuesday game I’m looking to leave so I’m wanting to attended session 0 and see if it’s for me
so basically, you give your allies more hp at the cost of your hit dies
or you can hop into call with cannon or shoot him a dm
True
I didn't get it right because of the "creature" and intelligence level of 3 atleast
Cause that sounded more like you use it on an enemy to bind it to you
Well I join the call tomorrow for 30 minutes and then I’ll talk to cannon afterwards
Can I cast it at anyone though?
yesm you can do that
And what would happen if I cast it on an enemy?
theoretically yes. if the creature is willing
They technically don’t need to be willing
But if I cast it on an enemy and they want to break the bond they would suffer damage
By the reading of the spell
And also I could know it's exact location and speak to it
Correct or they just take the extra hp
Or use touch and self spells on them
Yea if they would try to end it they would take harm
yes, you are right
I can bully someone and speak constantly to them dus to the telepathic bond
I mean it's better though to know all options
So true
It could be used for whacks combinations
It’s risky
I don't know if enemies hide or flee but I also would be able to see where they are
If that would happen
Yh definitely and they might
how i think it works is, lets say the creature is granted 26 hitpoints and it then loses 3 hitpoints, if it then chooses to end the spell early, it'll take 3 points of necrotic damage/ amount of points = the tomage on on the shield
if the spell end naturally, i don't think that applies
No in your example if they were to end it they would take 23 necrotic damage
As they lose the temp hp and then take damage
Or is it that it loses all hit points I gave them plus take damage to the equal amount I gave them
oh I can guarantee they will flee, it's all my character does
various means of causing "frightened"
Nice then we can make them flee and hunt them down
thats what i meant
but this can also be true. i'd say ask cannon
Yea that's what I'm saying
at lv.6 i can terrify everyone around me in a 30ft radius friend or foe
Speak to cannon as at the end of the day dm has final say
You get equal damage to the temporary points you had
indeed
@proud pebble your opinion?
k
yee, and only takes an action- though they still get to make a save

Say what stuff could tou gain from having an telepathic bond to your ally
Like say I put it on Aizo
The spell
silent communication
don't put it on me though, I get telepathic speech when I multiclass aberrant mind at level 2
So I’m thinking either a very big race (yes medium) but traditional large if they aren’t the playable race like Goliath etc rogue as just picture a Goliath sneaking around and if they get spotted they just go 🤫🤫you don’t see me your probably not gonna say anything
visual is kinda cool i can enter a room with that ability and terrify everyone and my fey mark makes flowers and such wilt in my precense
I wouldn't mind the massive shield however
It just a mind exercise RAAAAAAHHHH
Hmmm okay

she will make u go mad for fun
intimidation cannot be used for stealth btw
I need to have atleast a 3 at my hit dice roll?
simply murder them
if a spell has a cost and you cannot spend the cost
then the spell fails
Wait no I need to use atleast 3 hit dice in total
gonna murder you
if i use hour of reaping outside of combat can i turn it off at will? so i'm not just terrifying my allies cuz they were to close?
for this particular spell yes, there are other spells that require less, and/or more
Ok that makes more sense for the health point stuff and how you came to 36
it's an action you take, to cause the fear
it's not "on" by default

A long rest restores my D12 hit dices I get from my class
i know but if i turn it on i can turn it off again if my allies failed their saving throw?
A long rest restores ALL my Hit Dices for this campaign according to Cannon
Even the normal cause rounding up
I did not say that
No?
you get half back, rounded up
the spell cannon linked "blood bond" spends 3 hit die- which you'd probably use your d12s for
you roll them, and that's how much temporary health the target gains
when you have 1 hit die, that gives you all one of them back
this
for examble, once we're level 2, you have 2 normal hit die
but would still only regain one on a long rest
?
Yep I got that now too
Oh fuck
half of 2 is 1, so you regain 1
half of 3 is 1½, but it's rounded up so you regain 2
you have 1 hit die per level
you get half of your hit dice back per long rest, rounded up
if you're lv5 you have 5 dice
a long rest would give you 3 back

I think I might actually have my character for level 1 and if it’s level 3 I have soup
Okay but here I get ALL with one long rest
yes, the subclass ones you regain all of them
those are a SEPERATE thing from your hit dice
yup
they can be used in Sangro spells INSTEAD OF your hit dice
My 12D Hit Dice from my subclass I get all back from one long rest
yes
Yea yea I got that already
Yea
Good cause I need much talk for things I don't know
I hate when people expect people to know or get everything by one simple sentence instead of explaining it properly
Here’s a question what’s the best “Famer” background for 5e as there isn’t a farmer there’s one from 2024 dnd
Damn you my PE teacher I had for my last year
Outlander?
That’s what I’m thinking tbh
I only know that one but he seems good for farmer
Folk Hero also works
Cause when I looked at origins I didn't find that many common stuff
we're using 2014 Dnd
I think he means like what would be a good substitute for it
Say
Maybe folk hero
What happens if I only use one hit dice and take a long rest?
Do I get halve of 1 hit dice or get it back?
you get one hit die back
Ok
you get half of your TOTAL hit dice back
Yea was just wondering if I only use so little
Folk hero is the best so far I guess
What did I wanted to say again
You come from a humble social rank, but you are destined for so much more. Already the people of your home village regard you as their champion, and your destiny calls you to stand against the tyrants and monsters that threaten the common folk everywhere.
It’s just this that’s bothering me as I don’t feel the character would be regarded as the champion yet
You know I got Jeannie's stream in the background in my phone and got no actual clue what expicitly they are doing

playing BG3
I know that but I don't get why they seemingly restart the whole time
And I honestly don't know anything about Baldurs Gate besides Bear sex scene and that it's DnD
Ah I see
Say I couldn't cast Blood Bond on myself?
no, you cannot
idk if it's even a wizard spell
was just giving an example of a sangromancy spell
But there probably are more of that kinda stuff
again, you can look at the pdf of the Grim Hollow Player's Guide to see all of the spells
How are we doing stats? Is it point buy?
4d6 drop lowest
be honest with the rolls or I smite you
6 18s coming right up
😂😂😂
this is my spread

Would this be ok? If you want me to change any by all means ask
that's fine
Yh as I’m a barbarian fighter who doesn’t know there own strength maybe (if we are starting level 1)
reflavor a trident into a pitchfork
was about to say
Yh
I wish barbarian starts with a shield lol as I would use a trident a shield
pitchfork and wagonwheel
Yh
Would you allow me to start with a shield
That’s fine
Throughout most of history, the peasantry used spears
a pitchfork is just a spear with an extra pointy bit
They would wear clothes made of thick wool and/or canvas, so that weapons would get trapped and slide off.
This is why the actual victory of Scottish independence under Robert Bruce was so ironic. Bruce's side only had spears, and he was up against a lot of knights, but they successfully hearded the knights together with very disciplined spear walls and then obliterated them. Poverty > Wealth.
I say actual... cause there are a lot of really weird film renditions of the war.
Fair
Sry. got bored mid strem.
I dunno know
He’s a farmer and a painter
Painter you say?
Yep
going on an expedition eh?
He is just a very kind and gentle soul who doesn’t know there own strength
I’ve never seen gameplay or played it
He crushes bones... by accident?
Yep
Accident prone eh?
He’s accidentally crushed peoples hands
Makes sense
And he doesn’t mean to
Yh
He also like knitting in his spare time I wish I could get weavers and painters proficiency
fellow orc
i am only a half orc tho
Same I’m a half orc
ahh lots of orc
time for some fantasy racism

😂😂😂 I might be the one to cause that as I might accidentally hurt people
good thing we're in seperate groups, my character has 5 strength
that was a joke, there will be no fantasy racism (or actual racism) in my game
@proud pebble do i have to make a mini or can i just make a portrait?
sure
I will work on the backstory tomorrow once I know the campaign more
I’m still not sure what subclass I would go
there are other fighter subclasses than battle master?
cannon, grim hollow stuff was allowed for their campaign as well right?

I’m a barbarian
ah nvm
yes, Grim Hollow is avalible for either game
two additional barbarian subclasses, in case either seems interesting
which I believe I've said on multiple occasions
Hmm
None of them really fit tbh the one closest is the primal spirit
Path of the giant is interesting as and take the saying a gentle giant literally
honestly I'd have thought path of the fractured would have worked well
the kind of split personality thing
like normally a nice person but when they get angry
Yh I saw that but I don’t imagine them being a split personality I just think he just always underestimates his own strength due to painting and stuff and i imagine he has saved people and stuff who’s been crushed by box’s or carts with one hand and he just thinks it’s normal
I also don’t need to decide now
fair
I can wait and see where the story goes
whyeth doest thou pingeth my pongeth?!
This was why
hes playing u
soup should joine and be a cleric just to live up to that
heals us and enemies
cuz he heals all
He’s a artificer he will have the chef feat
throw barb or riot
mini done will do portrait tmr
It's very very good
i will throw you at my enemies
Maybe that will be our setting for our campaign
path of the giant barbarians actually get a trait at a later level
that let's them throw allies(and enemies)

damn straight
it's not
rookie numbers its 5:20
Didn't you see yourself there
@proud pebble
now look what youve done
Spoiler!
I saw
I hope we stay faaaaar away from the castinellan provinces where I'm from
for..
reasons

Yeaaaa I meant moreso our group setting for our guys but that spoiler was a joke anyways you just answered too soon before I could ad an emote
Which one was that again?
Mad King?
Vampires?
Or Elves
"why are you carrying 15 frying pans?"
dw about it
i like their aerodynamics
If my dude ever meets you you're probably getting the business end of that executioner sword
I don't think cannon went into that place in his description
but basically there's an "inquisition" who.. doesn't like magic
but uhm nowhere near nerd enough to be in here so imma dip out
or you will run away, screaming in fear

drake is part of the other campaign group, but his background is inquisitor, if I remember right
my character is a "lapsed inquisitor" meaning I left the order, for..
reasons
Oh then we both are hoping to not go there
the campaign takes place in the Ostoyan Empire
They'd make my scaly ass into some nice leather boots as soon as I show them a bit of blood magic
Me dumb not remember stuff
The relatively normal one?
With the nobles and all
I know that already
there's a pinned message in her cannon sent of the grim hollow stuff
you can read all the different things at any point

#1242281898844360744 message
You such a meanie when you aren't in voice chat

Just need to hit paladin 10 and I'll be fear immune
Ooh thanks Aizo
Oh god it's a download
My phone barely has any space
download it on your laptop then
by level 10, I have access to the meanest and most brutal spell ever invented in the history of DnD
called "dream"
ah so i have atleast 4 levels i can keep terrifying u
lots of text- but basically I can make anyone over any distance never get the benefit of a long rest ever again
and gradually kill them, even if I'm on the other side of the world
you can't even heal, since you never restore anything from resting

or on a more pleasant note, I can use it to talk to peepos in their dreams
u can't get rid of it somehow?
I am probably not putting 10 levels into paladin cuz I want some warlock levels anyways
Ok I read up lore
you can beat the saving throw, and the damage and effect won't happen
but you still have to beat the saving throw
Kill the caster
you don't even know who casts it on you
because the caster can change anything in the dream
including landscape, you, and themselves
but if u fail there is no way? or do u get to try like each time u try to sleep?
you get a new save each time you sleep

ah i see
Enemies can rest and heal?
yep
Ok cause from what I knew it almost seemed like a player targeted spel
if u can do it then an enemy can as well
The same rules apply to enemies healing?
if you can heal, they can heal
Long rest short rest
not necessarily the same mechanics
Ok just didn't expect the resting mechanic to be apart of it
except for "boss" characters, players and npcs normally have access to the same things
Like healing spells or stuff but not like the rest one can do
Ok ok
Say
but npcs generally start at full effect, even if you encounter them in the wild
players might not
boss character will also have access to healing
yeah
What nerds made DnD? They made it so complicated and added so much! Not that I'm complaining cause that basically is Elder Scrolls too and I'm also a giant nerd
Imagined so
same peepos that made magic the gathering, I think
But yes rest makes sense
It's like the enemies in Elder Scrolls game regenerating hp when not in combat
nah, two very different groups
Yes I will always think in Elder Scrolls terms
Gary Gygax made D&D
Richard Garfield made MtG

Makes things easier to understand like anything if you go by a sort of alegeration
in dnd you generally don't recover health at all, unless something makes you restore health
like a spell, or rest
Yes yes
Oh it's late
Hmm
Should I stay up and rawdog the night so my sleep schedule can reset?
Or go sleep and try to wake up early which probably won't happen
if u have anything u should be rested for then even just laying down and closing ur eyes is better then no sleep

@proud pebble so like, we're a bit off lv11 still in justin's campaign
but.. like, this seems really good
I can give myself or someone else 8 free uses of one of my 1st or 2nd level spells per day?

we're not playing the 2024 version, but they even buffed it in that version to also include 3rd level spells
I Wonder if u stack the same spell could u ask DM to cast it as a higher level spell
I can't remember any spells atm so lets Just say u have 8 lv.1 fireballs stored could u try casting all 8 at the same time and be allowed to cast it as a like 4th level spell?
yes, I believe that's right
no
I mean I know u normaly can't but could u convince DM to allow it
Wait can u even cast them all at once?
no, the spells must require an action
Ah I see
depends on setting, but I was thinking stuff like
- cure wounds
- disguise self
- jump
- arcane lock
- enlarge/reduce
- invisibility
- rope trick
- spider climb
- vortex warp
would be strong picks
for a stored spell, and you get 8 uses per day for dree

Cure wounds sounds nice
right?
8 free uses, and I can give the effect to someone else
so liger could possibly have 8 uses of something

If u could give one to each of us then we can all heal each other should anyone go down
I cannot, it's one single item I store spells in
specifically a weapon, if it's someone else
if I do it for myself, I can put it in something I could use as a spell-casting focus
so for myself, I'd just store the spells in my tinker tools that is part of my body
but for others, it has to be a weapon, since I cannot give away my spell-focus

Could u store the spells in a dagger and we could all pass the dagger around as needed?
of course
Like if u gave it cure wounds and liger had the dagger elara was down and marie was close to her could liger Just throw the dagger to marie?

and the 2024 version thought this effect was too weak, so they included 3rd level spells being able to be stored

silly them
I mainly think of liger as a dps but i wish I had a means to heal others since i can use feline agility or misty step to help me reach People quickly
Don't wanna lose my friends

as long as there isn't an enemy on top of u wanna try and stop u guys from having to make death saves
speaking of death saves i saw a thing i thought was cool
I personally don't think it's a good feat really, but there is the "magic initiate: [class]" feat
that let's you gain a few cantrips off a spell-casting class, alongside a single 1st level spell
that way anyone can pick cleric for that, and gain access to 1 healing word or cure wounds
once per day
only u and the dm knows how ur death saves go so the pary doesn't know if u roll a 1 and now only have 1 more roll left and or if u roll well and they have more time
makes players feel the pressure of oh shit my friend is dying

as nice as it sounds atleast for the next ASI i'm gonna make my dex 20 instead of taking a feat
yeah I don't think the magic initiate feat is good, probably most for roleplay or personal flavour

I considered it on my eldritch cleric and pick sorcerer so I didn't have to multiclass for dissonant whispers
but the 1st level spell you can only cast once a day, so can't even use it on her

The healer feat is really good
If uses healer kits yes but it is a lot of healing mid game
Early game it’s ok
As an action it healed 1d6 +4 + number of maximum hit dice the target has (character level)
Once per person per short or long rest
yeah the healer feat is pretty good, especially if you're in a setting where magic is less common
or you simply want to roleplay a little more realistic medic

Definitely
Yh I have a character who I classify as a pacifist
i will concider it in the future
multiclassing is a bit more advanced than not- it let's you add features you want, either for roleplay purposes or because you want certain things
however, it also makes your primary class(and multiclass) gain their level features slightly slower
so like, I'm going aberrant mind sorcerer at level 2- that means my cleric features will always be 1 level behind
so an 8th level cleric feature I wouldn't get before 9, and so on
pros and cons

Ok
That's cool
But complicated too much for a starter I see
Is your class also always switched out then?
Like start as cleric but at level 2 you stop being a cleric and officially are a sorcerer
no you're both after that, but you maintain the primary things from cleric, aka the first class
Neat thing I found
It seems they all get sangromancy marked there on the guide but unfortunately sangromancy isn't an official kind of seperate school of magic
So like what do you write on your sheet?
Level 1 cleric and level 3 sorcerer?
What was my spelcasting modifier again?
And also
What is considered as higher levels?
Intelligence
generally lv8 and above
My intelligence modifier ok
Ok ok
Hmm that makes that spell really good then
Well as a heal atleast
oh I misunderstood the question
Oh
the spell you shared is a 1st level spell
you can cast spells at a higher level if you want too
so you could cast it as a 2nd level spell or a 3rd level ect
so the spell is saying that if you cast it at a higher level then you can regain more hit points
yup !
Ok I see
Ah ok
Even cooler then
called "upcasting"
But, if you are casting it at a higher level then it requires a higher level spell slot
I mean it doesn't change anything actively if I have a lvl 1 spell still as a lvl 4 wizard right?
Ok there seemingly is a change
some spells, like the bloodrush you found gets stronger if "upcast"
Yes but I can mix and match all spells in my spell slots
Like are my spell slots split?
Or it just one general?
you have a specific number of spell slots per level
Yes I remember that
cheezes so much text. took me few min to scroll
you start with 2 level 1 spell slots
the most 1st level spell slots you will get is 4
you'll also end up with three 2nd level spell slots
yes
might seem slightly confusing or overwhelming at first
but this shows the progressive spell slots per level
a 2nd level spell can't be cast with a 1st level spell slot
BUT
a 1st level spell CAN be cast with a 2nd level spell slot
and most spells have an additional effect when cast with a higher level of spell slot
you'll get there, it'll just take some time to sink in
this, but the spell will state if it does, like on the blood rush spell majora posted
Is it seperated on the character sheet you gave us?
Can't go on in it on phone unfortunately
yes

Yup I imagine
I realise this might be a little smol, but this is my character's spell sheet
you can see how the spells are separated into levels
and then I simply added what the different spells does as notes
Some stuff is barely readable
Yes yes
dw Aizo likes to plan everything out in advance

the stuff marked with a "lv[x]" is stuff I don't have yet, but will get at that level

Ah yes I can only have a certain number of fixed spells when going out
And change it after long rest again

as a wizard you start with 6 spells that you know
and you get two more spells each time you level up
so you will pretty much always know more spells then you can cast in a day
And 2 spell slots I can have to put my spells in right?
this should be readable for my 1st level spells
currently, each day you can cast 2 spells
Yup yup
you can only cast a spell that you know
as shown as the "slots total" I put too
Wait so I can cast any spells that I know or was it that I had to pre choose the spells I take with me?
you have to choose in advance which 6 spells you know
you can cast two of them each day
it can be the same spell twice or two different spells
Ok
for simplicity's sake we don't have to get into further levels now
but numbers will increase as we advance in levels too
Ok
Just to get it right
Like at level 2
Lets say I got 8 spell slots
Or
Wiat
I get a bit confused by Aizo's sheet
don't look at the amount of spells, each caster has their own things
I got 6 prepared spells like you do, but my subclass gives me 2 free ones
speaking of, I actually did it wrong myself, I get 5 at level 1
don't look at me

Ok but like I have 6 out of all spells I could have. If I go on to a higher level I get more. The spells slots are still though different cause level distinction but still its 6 or 8 or whatver spells I know

all you need to do for now is pick 6 spells that you know
wizards amount of spells they can prepare, is your intelligence mod, + wizard level
so each level you put in wizard gives you another spell you can have prepared
as cannon says
Just one last question
as cannon also said, when I create a character, I make it level 20, so I know what I want and what it can do
and then I work down, to fit the level we're at
Do I write my 6 spels I choose somewhere different then there?
the place that says "spell level 1"
no, put the ones you've chosen on that sheet
anyway I go for nap now for other session 0
@proud pebble my character art is still being made so it's gonna be a couple weeks since i have a portrait. is that alright?
that's fine, if you could find a temporary placeholder for me to use, that would be helpful
alight, for now i'll pick a generic tree

||The Tavern Tale of Hulk Smol, The Honey Badger 🍻
“Gather ‘round, ye drunks and degenerates,
And I’ll sing of Hulk Smol, who fears no regrets.
Three feet of fury, slicked shiny with oil,
He beds beast and beauty, in blood and in soil!”
The bard slams a mug, spilling ale as he gestures wildly.
They say Hulk was born from a keg—literally. His first cry was a burp, his first step a stumble toward the bar. Orphaned? Maybe. Amnesiac? Certainly. But one thing’s for sure: Hulk Smol entered this world naked and sticky, and forty years later… nothing’s changed.
He rampages through taverns, axes flying, coins missing from pouches that were never his, pants missing because he lost them again. They whisper that his leather cloth is still out there, wandering the realms like a relic of shame. Some quest for dragon hoards, others for holy relics—but the bravest adventurers seek Hulk’s missing loincloth.
And as for his precious bits? Legends grow larger than the truth, as legends do. To hear the bard tell it, his manhood could strike down a troll and comfort its widow in the same night. Women, men, goblins, animated furniture—it mattered not. Hulk’s bedroll was the battlefield of love.
Finally, the bard strums hard on his lute and belts the closing verse:
“So raise up your mugs for the Honey Badger’s tale,
He fights, he drinks, and he always prevails.
Naked and roaring, half-drunk through it all,
When Hulk Smol comes knocking—you’ll answer the call!”
The crowd erupts, some laughing, some spitting ale, and one poor bastard swears he was there when Hulk wrestled a dire boar for a kiss.||
ill be playing a glory pally/hexblade , cult hunter inquistor type character
i think it's pretty good
as long as i have 1 good stats then having no stats below 10 is great
My charisma stat is 9
could be worse
Which funnily enough is very fitting for my character
Tends to happen when you don't talk to anyond of only go thugs and smugglers
and here i am with int 6
To quote someone
"You certainly got rock for brains"
I'll work on my spells in the meantime now too
this is stats for a new char i'm making cuz making chars is fun
Agree
Not wholy on DnD yet but agree
Since I did the same for ES
Maybe there is a good DnD video about the sangromancer subclass
Where was the spell list that eas linked?
@pastel idol
I only get access to the Sangromancy spells once I reach level 2 as a wizard right?
look what i made
Learned how to do screenshots on pc
Isn't this spell kinda good for melee?
Like I don't even have to use my strenght stat
I have dm’ed you but for everyone else I’m going be trying the campaign for a few weeks/ months to see if I enjoy it
Just so I know what is everyone playing as like I said I don’t like playing duplicate classes (just a me thing)
play the way u want and i'm sure u will have fun
That is fair I just don’t like duplication of classes
i think how much fun dnd is often depends more on the player themselves then the dm and group
understandable
sometimes people just have simular ideas it happens
True
specialy if there is no cordination
my character was made i think before i said i wanted to joine
That makes sense
i just really like the idea of a sad reaper
😂😂
and aizo suggested long death monk after i had explained what i wanted and i think it fits
my race and background also fits really well
my race is shadar-kai which live in the raven queens realm and i get her blessing cuz of it and her being a god of death means i can be a reaper by being her servant
That makes so much sense as sounds super cool
and my background gives me a fey mark which makes plants wilt in my precense and this is just a passive effect i think so i don't have to do anything
Nice
plants just die if i'm near
i think we have 2 barbarians
possibly anyway
I was the other
we have 2 pally but one is multiclassing warlock that being me

So a paladin, paladin warlock, monk, barbarian, rogue
funny enough i had an idea
a campaign where everyone has the exact same char same stats, race, class and background and will subclass or multiclass into the same thing but beyond that it's all the players choise
Yh
I would not like that
so they can change their stats with ASI or get different spells
just think it would be fun how much they would differe from each other when everything is almost the same
By the looks we kinda need a full caster
(We don’t but it would help)
and ofc their actions and such is different cuz different players
oh yeah we have no range chars
No range and no “real” magic
cannon yoinked the ranger we could have had
Rangers always die or experience trauma

What would people want me to play
i remember u guys talking about monks having like 100ft of movement is that a specific sub class or just monk?
High level monks
we want u to play what u want to play
That is not helpful at all
I know
we want u to have fun and enjoy urself and ur gonna enjoy urself alot more playing a char u want and are excited to play then one we tell u to play
Well here’s something that might help us let me tell you the characters I’ve played
A sorcerer cleric (who thinks there a cleric)
A abjuration wizard
A paladin warlock
Drakewarden ranger
Changeling bard
here is a list of sub classes from grim hollow which we are allowed to use for this campaign atleast so u can see if u find something fun there
Yh I’ve looked at the barbarian ones
i'v made a primal spirit barbarian myself
Fair
not useing it tho
👍
If we could have started level 3 I have the character lol
But all good I need to make something else
if u have another char other then barbarian u wanna play but u want lv.3 to make it work then u could work it into ur personal story why they aren't there yet
maybe it's a prelude to them getting their abilities
maybe they are simply hidind it untill they warm up to the others
The problem is it requires the level steel defender feature
oh the soup char?
Yh
why did u need that again?
Technically I don’t but the character concept is it was wild mage doing experiments in the kitchen and accidentally animated the soup and cauldron

if u only looked at the barbarians from grim hollow u could have a look at the others see if u find something u like
Yh the problem with the grim hollow is I do t have it in dnd beyond so it’s a massive hassle
people really forgot how pen and paper works huh
i'm not familiar with dnd bayond what is it?
It’s the official online character builder
I just lose stuff lol
Also could you send the synopsis to the chat please @proud pebble just so I have it as I don’t want to Google and get spoilers
I'll do it when I get up
Sort of
You basically have drop down boxes and tabs
And it does all the maths of skills etc for you
And works out spell save dc etc
ah so it's for if u wanna be lazy
i mean it's understandable i'v spendt like 3-4 hours making chars
Sort of but at the same time I’m lucky being in multiple campaigns I have access to a lot of books but normally you would have to buy all the books
u need to buy books?
what do u need the book for?
If you don’t buy anything you only get the basic rules
So you need the players handbook
And then tashas and xanthers for character creation and the dmg for more magic items
And then if you want the path of the giant you would have to pick bigbys boon
Etc
i think i got the players handbook from cannon
Fair
assumed it was just online
👍
u have time to decide
instead of trying to think of the class maybe u can try and think of an idea of theme
examples from my own chars
a sad reaper which is my monk
saw the first vampire sub class and decided i wanted to make a bloody mary char
thinking of the one from the infamous 2 dlc
necro posted a pick of a pretty elf and i decided i wanted to make a pretty elf girl char
the primal spirit barbarian i made i had kratos and atreus in mind
but instead of bear i'm having a big wolf
and my only 2 chars that doesn't have a particular theme is my first char which is a tabaxi rogue and since it's a tabaxi which is a cat like race i name it Liger which is the name of a cub born from a lion and tiger
and i recently made a new char which copied almost everything liger had but it's meant to go into assassin instead of arcane trickster which liger did and i named that class Felis which is the name of the deadliest cat in the world
Fair
@proud pebble sorry for the ping but a question about mounted combat (I know we are doing a dungeon crawl but if im say a goblin and want a mastiff as a mount)
What would the rules be
As I don’t want to be buying mastiffs to die
As I do have a character concept but if depends on the answer
@fickle barn wanna do Sangromancer?
What did I want here again?
Ah yes
SNEKE
What will your character be?
Nah I have a character concept brewing but I need to see how mounted combat will work as I want to play a goblin riding a mastiff/black bear or any small race (yet to decide) but I need to know as I don’t want to play a character and the mount just die and I need to buy a new one
i would just use this https://whothefuckismydndcharacter.com/ @fickle barn
A DND character backstory generator
Yep
Like I’ve said above I need to wait for the dm to answer about mounted combat and my mount
you do know you can be a centaur?
or be 3 goblins in a coat 🙂
😂😂😂
Princes of the Apocalypse is an adventure that has love for one thing and one thing only: dungeon crawling.
This module consists of 13 dungeons. Of these, 3 are devoted to each of the elements (fire, earth, air, water) and 1 is a neutral dungeon. The reason players are crawling through these dungeons is to rescue a delegation from the clutches of 4 crazy cults, each devoted to the 4 elements.
It would follow the normal rules for mounted combat
maybe a lack of spell casters will become a problem
them being devoted to the elements makes me think alot of them will probably be able to cast spells related to those elements
@proud pebble i have guide pdf, maps and supliment pdf for our campaign if needed
I bought the book
i think this thind are from drivethrurpg so made to help and dont come with a book 🙂
Ok I’m assuming that means if my mount dies they die there’s nothing even if once the get knocked to 0 they just go unconscious instead of dying
As unless your a paladin who can summon a mount the caviler fight gets shafted
Or a beast master ranger
same reason I'm reluctant to make a cavalier fighter
if the mount falls, what then?
Yh
It’s annoying
Especially if say I’m using a black bear or mastiff it’s either 19 hp of ether bear or 5 for the mastiff one AOE and it dies
Then I’m out a mount and friend
And I don’t want to multi class 5 paladin or 3 ranger
As of I go 3 ranger I wouldn’t get heavy armour (by starting ranger) and also I wouldn’t want to go 4 for the mounted combat feat
And I know it’s a dungeon crawl so traditional mounts aren’t good but that’s normal because a horse is to big lol but a mastiff or a black bear (medium) can
It just needs some aid from god (dm)
it's quite normal for a character to be knocked unconscious a couple times during a campaign
if at least the mount went unconscious if it fell to 0, it could be picked back up
Yh definitely but the problem is even if you take the black bear with 19 hp
If it takes 40 points of damage in a single attack aoe it’s dead outright even if it goes unconscious the mastiff can take a max of 10
I would happily take it so no matter what the mount goes unconscious when it hits 0 hp and it’s making death saves
No matter the damage it takes
Depending on the out come I might do ranger multiclass caviler go 5 and 3
Probably end 10 and 4
But I would prefer 10 fighter 4 ranger but tbh going 10 ranger 4 fighter makes some sense for the mounted combat to have hp
The thing if I do that is why do I need fighter
ranger do get some neat features
Yh but beast master
I am currently playing a drake warden lol
neat
Yh
but yeah beast master at least the animal has an amount of hit points
and can be resummoned
a character idea I have, but isn't playing in the current campaign
is a redemption paladin, but it kind of feels like they need to be lv7 to actually like, do stuff(aura of the guardian)
until then, they're just a paladin- at least the fighting style "interception" kind of makes up for it until then
yeah, that's the plan for mine as well
Who doesn’t attack or cast spells in combat
They are a hobgoblin oath of redemption paladin celestial warlock
The spell they use is sanctuary and the help action
after lv17, she'd have +17 to persuasion, and temporarily be able to push it to +22
so the plan is to make enemies in and out of combat surrender willingly
Yh
I forget if you saw it, but there's technically a new subclass for the barbarian in grim hollow: https://grimhollow.fandom.com/wiki/Barbarian:_Path_of_the_Primal_Spirit
that also has a beast companion after level 3
you're aware that Drake is playing a paladin/warlock
Yh I saw this but you have to use a ba to control it and it goes after you so if your mounting it you wouldn’t be able to move on your turn
Yh that’s for another campaign
oh gotcha
I thought he'd have wanted the oath of zeal but he ended up picking oath of glory

he switched to be less murderhoboe

so uhm.. my cleric can start as 1st level aberrant horror, right?

Yh cannon I have a character idea but it requires a mount (I want to be a caviler fighter) however they don’t get a mount them self so I would have to either buy one or something but I don’t want it to just die and if I go mastiff or black Bear (can work into my backstory) (could be a bear cub till level 3) if I go that route is there anything we can sort out about it not instantly dying
the main issue is that even if I give it the unconscious without dying stuff is just that at a certain point it'll get one shot by just about anything
is funny, because it's specifically the flaws I'm intrigued by
"unstable mutation" and "hideous appearance" being a reason she covers up
since she's covered in eyes, and her form is.. well, "unstable"
I feel like the designers missed something regarding their mounts
Yh that’s the thing as I know there’s a very rare magic item called ravens slumber that basically says when a beast you tamed or given by a class feature gets reduced to 0 it gets teleported into the necklace
But it requires a very rare item
yes it's a crit role item
I'm probably gonna say no to that
but I will consider the implications of giving a mount more hp as you level up
Would you allow my mount to scale the same as say the beast master ranger/ drake warden (5+5xlevel)
But I don’t gain other benefits
that's what I'm considering
As I would be happy with that and untill level 3 it stays a cub I’m training
So I get the mount at level 3 like other subclasses
like I said, I will think about it
Now to decide the race etc as there are a few options
Yh I need it to be a small race
fairy, riding a dragonfly
😂😂
there's an additional race included in grim hollow, called "wechselkind" which are basically a substitute left over after faeries abducts a child:
https://www.worldanvil.com/w/etharis-calloi/a/wechselkind-species if that was of interest
their size is "small"
of course, any of the normal races are still fine to pick, if you like the normal ones
The mount I’m leaning towards is a black bear tbh so atm what I’ve seen I’ve got a few choices
Goblin
Gnome
Hadozee
Kender
Halfling
Herengon
Kobold
These are what I’m looking at
G9v7k9m9doc
Sorry Mindflayer
I wanted to ask how many of the cantrips I can have?
I've been wanting to make a harengon ranger or or monk myself sometime
That’s fair
wizard starts with 3 at level 1, so pick three
Yh they do
flying squirrel
I think I like harengon more tbh lol
