To be honest, I think this looks pretty solid. There’s some light formatting issues that look a little sloppy (inconsistent spacing/alightment). I recommend googling “right tab stops” and how to use them in your word processor to get your dates nicely right-aligned.

The other thing I noticed is there’s a lot of great technical accomplishments listed, but nothing on the team/leadership side that I saw. Things like leading others on a project, working with cross functional peers, communicating with leadership. That kind of stuff.

Similarly, there’s nothing aside from work experience. Maybe squeeze in something about outside of work interests like volunteering, clubs, etc, that you might be doing. I think you can trade that for some of your less compelling bullet points and it’ll just make you look a bit more well-rounded (while also potentially demonstrating you can effectively do things with other people).

To answer your specific questions:

  • did i pass your 10s screening?

Yes. I was initially drawn to your longest work experience and was impressed by the variety of technical accomplishments and standard technology you used. You seem to have some experience with authN/authZ along with full stack contributions and some performance wins. All good stuff that kept me reading.

  • i'm applying for nodejs, backend dev and mern developer related jobs, so accordingly did pass the basic checks?

Yup. At least for me. I’d probably put you in the follow up pile for any of those kinds of roles.

  • if you're HM. what do you think?

As I noted above, my biggest question is whether you’d be effective in a team environment. If I interviewed you, I’d ask about times you’ve worked on a team and how you handled different situations. One of my favorite such questions is “Tell me about a time you had a teammate who was failing at something. What did you do in response?” Think about how you’d answer that question.

  • what part did you not properly understand?

The only thing on the tech side that left me with some questions is around your work with security stuff. While you clearly have some experience there, security is obviously a sensitive domain. You talk about how you fixed at least one bug discovered by automated tooling. This suggests a practical level of experience in the area. However, it’s an area that is normally very theory and best-practice heavy (i.e. it’s one of those “read a lot more than you write” domains).

Your use of JWTs is a little bit of a yellow flag, as those come with potential pitfalls. I might also follow up with some questions about that effort to see if you recognize and have mitigated some of the risks.

But, again, I think this resume should effectively do its job of getting you slated for follow up (e.g. a phone screen). Hopefully that the experience you’re having with it.

@opaque sorrel first of all, thanks for the detailed feedback. I'm really grateful.

so, few things that i think over a bit after reading the feedback, but still stuck. so gonna ask you directly while giving you some context.

Things like leading others on a project, working with cross functional peers, communicating with leadership. That kind of stuff.

  • yeah, actually i led the project as core member, I handled the backend part, and there were 2 frontend members.
  • I basically handled, jira tickets, architect part as well. and giving advise on frontend side as well, particularly on api integrations and how to integrate external systems.

Question here : how should i highlight my impact of leading team that consist of 3 dev? how can i make my impact here in one bullet point. any idea from your side would be valuable to me.

Similarly, there’s nothing aside from work experience. Maybe squeeze in something about outside of work interests like volunteering, clubs, etc, that you might be doing.

  • I do volunteer to virtual coffee online meetup for people to communicate and remove their social anxiety and help them better communicate.
  • i do some sporting activity, like swimming, running.
  • i also actually vibe code few side projects i'm planning to put them there. in another projects section...

The only thing on the tech side that left me with some questions is around your work with security stuff. While you clearly have some experience there, security is obviously a sensitive domain.

  • so it was some devsecops tool, that spits out lots of bugs and potential errors in the whole codebase. and I practically spear headed those in sprint.
  • the one was using tedious in mssql.
