Simply extra damage isn't enough to compensate for all the nerfs it's getting, buffing the range to 500-600 may be good enough
#rust nerf is kinda large, give it a range buff

The fire rate should not be halved, only reduced to 0.5 with a 10% damage buff
Keep in mind the nerfs make them worse than spear, an already longer range weapon. Other players are likely not keen on having their brawling weapons turned into low DPS utility weapons.
If nothing is changed, the weapon will probably get buffed later when more information is gathered on how powerful it should be.

Trust pixonic to sell me an item and drastically change it under my feet. The range buff sounds nice but we still got duped out of a weapon set and our money. I'd rather they just delete the rust rockets from my inventory and tell me I cannot have it anymore. Because that is basically what they did. And I still cannot believe this is not illegal.

A policy that has been abused excessively. To modify content doesnt mean to sell it to you in false pretense and then fore because the law doesn't look into these matters, they over do it.
