you should get drones, only for its intended function and usage (its special attribute or ability), for the robot you intend to use them on. Everything else like extra damage or speed, that a drone may have is secondary, so only buy Reviver for its ability to revive, or Ironheart for its ability to remove freeze or blastcharge...

I can't say anything in regards to the cost unfortunately, but if a drone costs 5000 or 6000 gold, you can expect an equivalent cost in this new drone currency.
