Personally I've had really great success with max role level star recently & also the gachaing of lactus ( with chaos vial, wiggling tentacles prices this high, it nearly eliminates all my losses ).

Then again, all these comes down to the factor of randomness, and the star role really helps cut the odds down ( from losses to breaking even, and potentially profits )

• hypertech starship reactor - mk I;
• hypertech starship viewscreen, mk ii;

• bastion tactical console mk ii;
• oracle science station mk ii;
• vitahope life support system mk ii.

These parts, alone, would be enough to make your ship lactus ready (in terms of ratings required); they are also cheaper than your usual mk3 hypertechs.
