It's a cheap and effective way to level up apart from harvesting trees of high rarity

This is subjective but you should only hit the race start flag when the top most ingredient you put in experiences a quality change

You cannot really dig out the "best" in anything, especially in a game where the market constantly changes. For budget ranges 5-10DLs I would suggest going into Magic Bacon -> Art Walls ( if you could find cheap paintbrushes, making and selling paint easels is definitely viable ), Ancient Stone Gates -> Amphora, Acid -> Toxic Waste Barrel. Easy masses may include but not limited to Blue Portals, Beehive ( worked with this and was absolutely awesome, even better if you break the Beehives for honey with TM and path towards Corn ), and semi-easy Onions and Dragon Gates

Then again I don't really know your budget. Anything slightly higher than that should look into even deeper masses like SSUs, #🧙game-advice message, Fossil Brushes and the likes ( best if they are consumable, or can be destroyed in a way after consumption )

Also, you NEED Thanksgiving Dinner Fishing Rod for this to work.
Without Thanksgiving Dinner Fishing Rod, you are not guaranteed fish catches and will decrease the rate of gems gained. Assuming you are fishing with Salmon Eggs *(~43.8% chance to catch a fish, source), you're only getting 78 fish catches *(assuming 180 fish catches within the Gemonade buff's time), which equals to 9,750 gems return. This is basically a loss (gem to wl rate is 650 gems per wl, which is pretty risky if you miss a few catches, due to causes like server lag) considering how Gemonade is ~15 each.
Thanksgiving Dinner Fishing Rod basically makes it so that you get more than 1000 gems per wl rate, if you complete 180 fish catches within the buff's length, you'd be getting yourself 1500 gems to wl rate.

Although it takes a long time, starting from dirt and cave bg to mass produce something like sci stations has always felt so good to finish, and can be lucrative. Idk really what the go-to thing is these days, but sci stations were the way to go some years ago.

Sci stations farms price now are like a full plat farm with 2800 stations for 750 wls, and u profit 7 wls if u harvest once a day and 14 wls if u harvest twice since u can harvest it every 12 hours

Beehive blocks are not farmable, so you're going to experience seed loss and result in loss in value. If you want to look into this, I suggest just starting from their prepaths as they are BOTH farmable. That's the easy mass behind Beehives and it sure as hell is worth ( I have done this mass before and Beehives were 9/WL last time, still a lot of profits despite the low price ).

By the way, breaking Beehives is hell ( bees would kill you almost on every interval after a punch ), using TM to break them is much better if you are attempting to get Honey and path from Beehives to Corn.

I do not quite understand this query? If you meant "is a player required to be in the world", then no. TM works even without the presence of a player in the world. This is a server side process, though it also means that if the server is lagging, the hits may be delayed and result in waste of gems (the error is mostly minimal to none)

Overall, the loss if you adapt TMs for Beehives is quite minimal, assuming you are fully utilizing the easy mass. Pathing onwards to Corn and making Corn Meals gives it much more value, and by price calculations you could earn even more from making Chips and Guacamole (though it may be better at times to sell Corn Meals due to demand)

Windows ( farmable component ) + Door = Dungeon Door ( not a farmable component )
Optional step : Danger Sign + Rock Background = Death Spikes
Dungeon Door ( not a farmable component )+ Death Spikes ( farmable component ) = Portcullis ( not a farmable component )
You can also choose to splice the Death Spikes if you can find the pre paths at cheap rates. (Danger Sign Seed + Rock Background Seed = Death Spike (farmable component))
Portcullis(not a farmable component) + Sandstone Wall (farmable component) = Ancient Stone Gates (not a farmable component)
