Seed loss is basically, as its name suggests, losing seeds. How this occurs in massing is basically, when you harvest the trees of an unfarmable component and break it for the seeds to proceed on to the next step, you end up losing a certain % of the seeds you had initially made.

An example: Say you splice 200 dungeon door trees, and harvest them then break them for their seeds. You would come to realize that you are left with <200 dungeon door seeds, since it is not a farmable component

The main way to reduce and mitigate the effect of seed loss is to farm the farmable components as much as possible. This would take more work and also result in more profits, and the number of farming cycles would be quite a few, not just one. One can also incorporate the use of Dreamcatcher Staff and Harvesters + Fuel Packs when harvesting the unfarmable component trees. This is the most common way above the aforementioned method.

I wouldn't suggest it, bad mass to start off with as a starter. There are much safer masses out there which are beginner friendly and won't yield too much losses in the case of any errors.

Some are not worthy of farming every step and can just be brought. I will refer you to another mass to simplify the understanding:

These steps are for Portcullis mass. As you can see here, Windows are farmable components. However, you may choose to skip them and buy them directly due to its low and cheap costs. Some players also buy a huge chunk and farm one or two cycles to save just that bit of WLs, but honestly it is up to you to decide whether you want to throw in that effort.

Seed loss is the biggest worry for massers. The biggest error I would say comes down to calculations. Other than that there shouldn't be any other errors if you're following the steps normally.

Also, don't farm the unfarmable components. That is a huge error and can cost you the entire project. Unfarmable components will result in seed loss per harvest cycle (which is essentially farming).

Definitely. Portcullis seeds are being bought off at 7 / currently, and it's really easy to mass + its recommended for starters like you. Of course, it all comes down to the effort invested into the project.

I also recommended Plumbings earlier. That's also a great mass project you could try out as a starter.

You can hire a service to harvest the Portcullis trees. I quote to what I have mentioned earlier:

At the end of the day, it is up to OP to make the choice of what to mass. From there on they can adapt to massing (as they have wanted to) and can go on to mass projects which are much tougher in general

As @polar forum mentioned, you can hire a harvesting service yeah. The function of it is to provide an additional block when harvesting trees. This has a 2% chance to proc.

Assuming you have 1000 trees to be harvested with DCS, it is safe to assume that you can get 1000 * 0.02 = 20 Blocks extra from it

Then again, with the assumption of 30 only, I would also look to make more Door seeds, or farm the Death Spikes just a bit more and sell excess seeds to buy Door Seeds directly.

Directly quoting from one of my old messages:

4 cycles = 40,000 * 4 = 160,000 gems for 4 cycles

You will get around 250,000 gems back from harvesting the bountiful lattice fence mature roots (~90,000 gems clean profit)

Each Bountiful Lattice Fence takes 4 hits to break with a TM; one hit consumes 1 gem.

With 8,000 gems, you can break up to 2,000 Bountiful Lattice Fences before the machine completely runs out of fuel.

The TM has a 1.5s tick rate, so ~6s for 1 block to be completely broken.
(2,000 * 6) / 3600 = ~3.33 hours.

You'd need 3.33 hours before refilling the gems if you are going for 1 TM only. This value is halved / downscaled based on how many TMs you have of course

You'll get 66,000 points with this theory, per every Pristine Rolling Pin. Assuming the guild you joins wants you to complete #20x1 (personal), you need 1,885,000 points to complete #20 personal (~29 Pristine Rolling Pins).

If we calculate each pristine rolling pin to be 3.5 WLs, it'll cost you about a DL. I'm not really sure of the prices during the clash this Thursday though (it'll definitely be much more expensive compared to this), so this is just an estimate.
