With the new system for Train-Es, it should be way easier to pick up especially when it does not consume any tools. I suggest learning surgeries with that, it is also quite cheap right now.

Should take you a day or two if you read and understand all the tool's functions as well as the entire surgery process

Of course, the hard surgeries are removed from the Train-E system. No rewards will be given out upon successfully curing one either.

You will, however, get the debuff mod "Malpractice" upon failing a surgery on them.

It is only profitable on Bountiful series blocks (I'd recommend Bountiful Lattice Fences or Bountiful Growtopian-Eating Looming Plant, the others may not work out).

Blocks broken with TMs do not drop gems. Therefore, bountiful series blocks are great to pair up with it since the main gem reward comes from the level 3 mature roots.

If you know what you are doing in a mass project, you won't deprofit.

Massing is usually the process of splicing two seeds together (which has an existing recipe), into another component which builds up into the final product.

Massing slightly differs from the usual " farming " process, you do not just plant, harvest and break and repeat for massing. You have to evaluate and plan your steps carefully as it could potentially result in you losing more WLs for every mistake you do.

One of the biggest worries you should have as a masser would be the issue of seed loss. When cycling through to the last step, some components may be unfarmable components, and therefore will result in seed loss per cycle. You can mitigate this by using fruit drop boosters like harvesters [with fuels to proc the double fruit drop eff] and dcs, or break blocks with blue ances and bbh.

To further follow up on this point, you should only cycle through an unfarmable component once.
But, how should I tell whether the block is farmable or not?

For farmable components, you should cycle through them more than once, as it will reduce future step seed loss (considering the next step is a non farmable component)

Something to take note of is that Lazy Massing does not equal to normal Massing. Lazy Massing will more often than not result in you losing wls.
Lazy massing is purchasing and splicing the pre-step seeds together to obtain the final product. This will more often than not result in you losing WLs and is not recommended.

As said earlier, massing is the process of splicing two seeds together (which has an pre-existing recipe), into another component which builds up into the final product. However, you should start from farmable components and continously refarm them in order to mitigate future step seed loss to maximize your profit.

There are some worlds such as MASS or MASSHELP which has information and steps to guide you on how to mass. Always remember to check whether a block is farmable or not to follow up with more than one or just one cycle.

Root farming is basically making use of the fertile soil blocks and planting bountiful seeds on it.

All you need to get started:

1. Fertile soil blocks (they are farmable so you can just buy the blocks which go for 120-150/ )
2. Your choice of bountiful farmables

Currently there are 2 popular farmables people use for root farming.

1. Bountiful lattice fence (Rarity: 47)
2. Bountiful Growtopian-Eating looming plant (Rarity:68)

A full farm of bountiful lattice fence is able to yield about 200-250k gems every week, compared to looming which gives you 350k every 2 weeks.

The basic idea is similar to farming but you don't get gems when you break the blocks and will only get gems when you harvest a level 3 root.

Every time you plant the seeds, it will form roots. In order for one to collect gems, you will need to punch and break till the tree says "Level 3".
Afterwards, just gently punch the soil block once for your gems and root cuttings.
Root cuttings are these seeds that will appear when your harvest a root (punching a mature soil block) They usually sell for 200-400/ .
