in an UX perspective (as an UI designer) I don't think it's an improvement, although some parts of it could be taken and implemented better, which would then be an improvement

but taking growtopia's playerbase is mostly matured, I wouldn't do such drastic changes.

Thing is, yeah they're modernising in a way that aligns with web standards, it's similar to html etc., but those modern UI's lack a LOT of the QoL features that the 15-year-old UI had, they don't have any animations, they can't be closed with "Esc" key, and their buttons and scrolling frames are buggier and less of a nice experience than the original dialogs

one thing I really hate about the new chat UI is that the chat reads backwards. Its confusing. older chat was pushing new texts to the bottom while the new chat does the opposite...

This is coming from a place where I still have respect for whoever commits hours to develop this game for the better, but also from a place of disgust and confusion.

For months, the players have been asking - and perhaps begging, for a UI clean-up and a better user experience. We've been willing to be heard and wished to see a development towards our, the players' needs. The update installed yesterday proves the contrary, the wishes of the community are not taken into consideration at all. First of all, the development team of the game should take a step back and change their approach and methodology. Instead of presenting an update that genuinely nobody actually desired and disliked to an unfathomable extent, then only afterwards asking for our opinion; logically OUR opinion as the community of this game should be asked on planned updates. We do not feel like we matter to any of the official staff or company workers anymore.

Second of all, this company or development should genuinely take a progressive stance and try to revert changes to their original i.e. initial version, especially when asked for by the community. The scale of this mess is actually not measurable in my view and should be reverted immadiately OR should be left as an option for the players who liked this. There are multiple problems with this UI update, and some are: Detaching one of the last structural pieces of the original Growtopia UI and deconstructing it into a movable pop-up, the inability to pin or opt-out from this feature, instead of an UI clean-up/decluttering (especially for mobile players) acting for a cluttering mess.

But this update has no explanation whatsoever, the detached and deconstructed chat doesn't really help raise profits to the company nor was something the player base asked for. The only major progress from this point onwards would be the update to get reverted.

Thank you and though I don't have high hopes, we hope that our messages and thoughts are clear and heard.
