There are a few different solutions out there that have already done some form of regenerating resources, but most of them don't really work in the same way that you'd do vanilla mining

If you have multiple java versions installed, you might have to specify which one the server should use in the startup script. You didn't have to - actually I think it's useful to have multiple. Before Paper 1.16 started supporting java 16 I had to specify which version the servers should use (1.17=16, 1.16=11 etc.)

I think multicraft has a option by default to use a customjava16 build. (might be part of apex hosting, they use multicraft too but worth a check to be sure). Due Apex being... It is a bit more all inclusive and easier to work with than Citizens too, offers a GUI if i remember right

Citizens ties in with more plugins than Towny does, because Towny prefers doing things by itself. So depending on the plugins you run, make a choice. Running a "easier to use" plugin might not be best for performance if you have other plugins that attempt to do the same thing/offer the same functionality.

Whatever you choose, read the configuration manual/setup tutorials thoroughly to ensure that you have set it up correctly to decrease the amount of load they bring.

I've never tried, do not think that is possible honestly. But i've got an area setup on my server where we have various arenas for various type of games. Most of them controlled by either pvp/duel plugins or directly by commandblocks.

Nothing super fancy like MCC or Hypixel games, but its good entertainment none the less.

Players use a /warp command i've set up through Essentials. Worldguard/+ specific plugin and or command blocks do the rest

Yea same, its why i just build a bunch of arenas in a corner and made it through worldguard that people cant be in there without being in the specific places the /warp takes you to. The moment they parkour out of the arenas worldguard zaps them back to spawn.

I've heard about it, it is listed often in the console logs people post when they have issues, but i have no experience with it personally. I keep my server as vanilla as possible, if people want to play mini games they usually pop into hypixel anyway, i dont feel like competing with them.

It might take you a good few hours, lots of googling and lots of trial and error, but you can do amazing things with commandblocks and tiny plugins. Altho most plugins just do what commandblocks can do, automated.

i.e a pvp plugin that gives people a combat kit, is nothing more than a set of commands that can be run by a commandblock
