when you set both xms and xmx the same, you are telling the JVM to go ahead allocate that ram to it. When they are not set the same, the JVM will dynamically allocate the ram instead, but this has the side affect of causing the server to lag when it does this though. Since the JVM will eventually end up using the ram you allocated anyways, just best to just let the JVM allocate all of that ram anyways from the start.

OOM = Out of Memory Error and its a specific error that will be thrown and generally causes the server to crash which should generate a crash log separate from your normal console log

ok, so i have a 1.16.5 spigot server, and i have taken it down to skin and bones, so just whats there after someone runs the jarfile and agrees to the eula.
anyways, the issue im having is when one travels to the end, and defeats the dragon, the exit portal spawns. when I hop into the portal, nothing happens. i can just, like, walk around in it. then, if i try to open chat, it (the game im assuming) immediately closes chat, preventing me from typing in any commands... anyone know anything about this?

Spigot is for stability, Paper if you want some cool features or just be on the edge. Paper isn't always stable and actually ends up with more bugs which do get fixed then spigot does overall

hey I have a Question (sorry for my spelling Im German and my English is th worst): Apparently th Spawn_Egg Item from back in the day was remooved from the game a long time ago. Now is it possible to spawn in a Existing Spawn Egg by Command that is ANY Entety based Spawn Egg that exists in 1.16 or newer that can be modified to be a substitude for that Spawn_Egg Item that does not exist any more. Hello everyone! I'm trying to host a server to play 1.17 with my friends, I'm using the following plugins: Saberfactions; BetterRTP; Dynmap; Essentials; LuckPerms; Vault and WorldEdit. Everything's going allright, but mobs don't spawn. I mean monsters, I see pigs and sheeps everywhere. I typed /gamerule DoMobSpawning true and nothing happened. Anybody can help me?

It's not bungeecord, i have other servers same configuration copy and pasted (under servers: or whatnot, just different ip and ports obviously) and they work fine.
I've looked over and even redid the bungee config last time I got this error and yet to no avail, I then switched to a fork of Spigot and it worked, but now that fork has no 1.17 support yet.

I double- heck I triple checked them multiple times; and again when I switched to a fork of Spigot it solved the error, now i'm back with regular Spigot as the fork we were using hasn't yet released 1.17 version.
