The reason you should use buildtools is twofold.
First and foremost is legal reasons. The whole Bukkit DMCA issue really screwed over how minecraft server software can be distributed. It's a legal method of obtaining the craftbukkit code which the spigot jar relies on. (Even though it gets patched to shit during the bt process)
Second, that website may host legit copies of spigot and may even use buildtools to make the jars, but that is not a guarantee. Several jar hosting websites have been found to put malware in the server jars.

Because spigot is not allowed to distribute the craftbukkit jar. You are allowed to download the source code and compile it yourself though, which is what buildtools does.

if you dont wanna use chest shops and you absolutely want to access the shop with a /command, i might have found a solution
there is a plugin that allows to turn money into physical items and turn it back into money.
so if your currency is diamonds, you could have players deposit their diamonds into their "account" and the diamonds become $ which can then be used by auction house.
and they can withdraw their money to get diamonds back
from what i could find, the only way to have 100% physical currency shop is with chest shops or villager trade shops

@dim sundial Depends on the plugin, if itās simple thing that can be entirely done with the bukkit api, try just using the bukkit-api from 1.7. If itās nms or something newer youād need to either use abstraction to implement/support the same methods in older version or reflection.

thanks for the answers. most hosters are using ddr5 for the new ryzen generation (7700X for example).. and Intel is getting ddr4. now I'm between a 12700k with ddr4 or a 7700X with ddr5. they are pretty much equal in single core performance I guess
