Gaming pc.
Looking to get oled monitor in the future
Mainly playing on 4K

9950 is overkill if you are only gaming, also no need for 64gb ram for gaming and 6000mhz is the swett spot for AMD

solemn bluff
#

whats the budget? what games?

fresh hazel
#

£3000

#

Mainly all triple A games present and future

solemn bluff
#

give some examples please, not all AAA games are made equal and have varying CPU recommendations, as pointed out, generally the 9950X3D is overkill, but some games benefit from it

What size monitor are you using? Under 32inch they say is too small for 4k

there is no way to get a 5090 in under 3000GBP, the 5080 is still decent at 4k, but I'd recommend reconsidering a 1440 monitor, unless you want a massive 32+ inch monitor, you can get much higher FPS on 1440 than at 4k,

Thank you, appreciate it. I must’ve made a typo when I said budget 3000, it was meant to be 4000. Sorry just woken up haha. I just think if I’m paying all that money I rather pay a bit extra and get a better build with better components

solemn bluff

honestly though, I think you'd benefit from staying at 1440p and highest quality while still getting great FPS, than 4k, decent quality, and ok FPS

updated spec

Plonked in front of a 32inch wouldn't be fun either imo

solemn bluff
#

please stop pinging on reply, ta

#

it still matters what monitor you actually get, anything smaller than 32 inch and in my opinion the pixel density does weird things to the image at 4k

fresh hazel
#

Hmm

solemn bluff
#

getting a 5090 is fine for 1440p, you can max it all out and get great FPS while you are at it, and honestly the jump from 1440 to 4k isn't all that much, you see more difference in 1080 to 1440

dawn swan
#

I went from a 27 inch 1080p to 27 inch 1440p and everything is so much smaller. It would be horrible trying to look at 4k in 27 inch imo

solemn bluff
#

you could compromise and go for a 1440 ultrawide

fresh hazel
#

I guess you are right, i mean i can upgrade to a 4K monitor/tv in the future if i really wanted to with a 5090 right? Probably a dumb question

fresh hazel
solemn bluff
#

you can swap monitors freely

dawn swan
#

Yes but you would really want to be going 32 inch or bigger

#

Ultrawide saps fps

solemn bluff
fresh hazel
#

But wouldn’t it mess up the aspect ratio when playing open world games?

dawn swan
#

Only if they didnt offer an uw resolution

solemn bluff
#

even then most games will just letterbox it down to 16:9

#

very few games will end up with weird aspect ratios, and the games that do have other major issues that need fixing first
