right, that makes things easy, the top slot should have the 256GB drive, meaning the bottom 2 should be empty, I'd recommend just plugging the new drive into one of the bottom 2 slots

#

the top slot is PCIe 5.0 x4, but the other 2 are 4.0x4, so no loss there, the install should be pretty easy

does the top m.2 slot happen to have a blinking light?

dammit, would have been easy to check if the drive is there or not then, no major loss, when you go to install, you can simply unscrew the bottom 2 drive slots heatsink and see whats under it

#

are you buying the m.2 with or without a heatsink included?

it's for gaming right?

and please turn the ping off on reply

well since you have available heatsink space, no need to spend extra on the heatsink included option

#

as for what drive to buy, I am a fan of crucial, they're a known good brand, and usually come in cheaper for the same specs

a little slower than the WD you mentioned, in practive the same, comes in a fair bit cheaper

omg I am so sorry I pinged again is there a way to make it default off

userbenchmark, what a pile of 💩 , amounts to slur here, they are biased and just bad at their reviews

good to know thanks

for gaming, even a gen3 drive is plenty with minimal difference, but since gen3 and 4 prices are basically the same, no need to get a slower drive

the actual physical installation is easy, in your case, unscrew the heatsink, slot in the drive, secure with a screw and post(possibly preinstalled otherwise in the welcome box), peel the cover off the thermal putty on the heatink for the drive, screw the heatsink back on.

after that it's all windows work and that takes a few seconds
