Yeah £2000 budget, gaming pc, 1440p res, no peripherals needed I have them if you need those specs
9070 xt would give you more performance than the 5070
And Im in the UK
theres also a white aegis case as well if you wanted the case in white
Ok you reckon it would work with everything else fine?
yeah your getting a pretty good gpu with the 2nd best gaming cpu avalibale right now
about 15 - 16% better non rt performance than the 5070 with the 9070xt
That's good, I'm making a custom build on the site atm, trying to find good replacements for my mates recommended components
even with raytracing its slightly ahead of the 5070 unless its in very extreme rt workloads which you would not be doing at 1440p on a 5070
Thanks, been using laptops for many years so all this is new to me
Is ray tracing prevalent in many games these days?
getting way more prevalent
its mostly more lighter rt in games since they have to also support consoles
path tracing which is the more demanding rt is only in a few games right now and those games were pretty much all nvidia sponsered
Thankyou, under your choice of the 9070 xt card that I just selected it has, 'refine graphics card selection'
Iv got 4 options here
Saphire Pulse Radeon, Gigabyte Radeon, ASUS Prime Radeon and ASROCK Radeon
its pretty much just looks they will run pretty much the same
That's just different vendor card, they will usually be more or less the same
Ah thanks
a overclock on the card will pretty much only boost fps by about 1 or 2% if that
How many frames per second would be a normal standard? I guess different games have their own rates?
yep depends on the game and the graphics settings that is applied
What would be a good choice for the two SSD's?
you would want a fast drive for windows so either the crucial or the corsair 1tb drive
games dont really care about ssd speed so you can get a slower drive for that like the 2tb corsair drive
Thankyou
just dont get a hdd for games since games these days really want to be run of ssds due to their faster speeds
1TB Crucial T500 GEN 4, and the 2TB Corsair Core XT MP600. Are they good choices?
seems good
Dum question but how can I address which SSD the OS is installed in ?
they will install it on the smaller faster one
Thanks, for cooling would I require a bit extra? My room is hot as heck atm. Despite the elevation ventilation is not great
360 aio is the best cooling you can have without having a custom water cooling done
I have the FrostFlow 120 series selected here
yeah you definitly want at the minimum a 240 for a 7800x3d
since 240 ff is not in stock get the ff 360
yeah frostflow 360 is the biggest cooler that they have
A point I should of made earlier is the build would be for next month. Just working out specs until then. So I would have to make substitutions then if the components aren't in stock. It all revolves around end of month pay day
I’ve noticed only game that likes a fast ssd is rust when I had a slow one I couldn’t log in to a server as fast as when on a fast ssd
almost every new game these days wants a ssd
indie games are mostly fine but anything AAA will want the fast speeds of a ssd
Thankyou, Iv been told that virus protection is just bloat ware and is redundant beyond the standard issue windows protection. What do you think?
yep just use windows defender
Sound thanks
if you really want to use a 2nd program to scan for things then just use the free version of malwarebytes
Thankyou, I'm just near the end of the spec selection. Another silly question, regarding the internet connection, all I need is a network card and onboard wifi?
Ah thanks
The cooling system and I also elected LED strips, these are requiring a motherboard with extra connections.
Iv selected the Gigabyte B550
Ok, I can't find any I assume they are not in stock
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/gaming-professional-enthusiast-pcs/ select that here
Manufacturer of performance custom computers and laptops. Customise your ideal gaming PC or laptop using our advanced configurator.
Thankyou
build would be pretty much the same except you put in a 7800x3d processor and 6000 speed ram
The 32 gig Corsair vengeance DDR5 6000 CL30?
yes
Great thanks
Sorry to back is the case just a suggestion, the Aegis? I was looking at the Corsair Frame 4000D RS ARGB Modular witch I prefer
i just selected the cheapest case to be certain it fitted in your budget
for that case you would only have room for the gigabyte 9070 xt gpu and you would have to increase the psu to 850w
Ok would you say the aegis is a better selection then? I was only going on aesthetics with the case
case is pretty much personal prefrence
Case
CORSAIR FRAME 4000D RS ARGB MODULAR - WHITE

This is the specs so far, thanks for your helps guys
The case I will change to your choice Lunafury if space is going to affect the gpu selection
would not get icue iunless you really want that display on it
nautilus cooler or frostflow will pretty much work the same just without the extra screen
Yeah thanks I think I initially selected it and then when re made the build in AM5 amd selected the wrong one
Unless you have a really fast Internet connection 😆
Icue software frequently has issues so I'd definitely avoid it
i just noticed for the ram you want 2x16 not 1x32
Is that to do with the two SSD's?
No, its the RAM.
Instead of 1x 32GB , get 2x16GB
Ok I'll make the switch when I place the order thanks
Is there equipment I would need to stop static charge frying the machine?
I have heard touching the metal frame first to ground it is one way
I'm going to get a rubber mouse mat and keep the tower off the carpet
I've never need to do anything re static charge unless i've been opening up said machine and fiddling with bits (at which point I use an anti-static writsband) - normal use requires nothing
Yeah its best to keep off the carpet - helps reduce dust and muck
Ok makes sense, I appreciate the info.
the 6000Mhz is also important
obvious thing but make sure its plugged into a surge protector as well
Yes I have a surge protection cable,
I'll go for the 3 year warranty also as seems good value
yeah you can’t go wrong with warranty
I’m not sure if it’s the same with all orders but my order came with a cable that has a fuse built in anyway
Obviously nothing wrong with double protection but it’s handy to know
all plugs have to have a fuse to work the surge protector is just for more protection. definitly want to be more safe than sorry expecially with something costing as much as the pc
Would a surge be under warranty? Good to know if so, we’ve had 3 thunderstorms in a row recently all out of nowhere.
Sorry OP I’m using your thread as a forum 😅
Use #762988481634369556 instead then
All good thanks for the advice everyone, here is the list. I'll buy the thing at the end of the month.
very solid build !!
I would avoid PC specialists for now. They’ve confirmed they’re experiencing a high return rate and a staff shortage. If you’re unlucky enough to get a faulty PC (which seems common, as I’m still waiting for my RMA), you’re expected to wait upwards of 3 weeks or longer, according to the company.
So hold off for now as an FYI on this occasion, or shop somewhere else until PCS have got their ducks in a row
High return rate? WTH are you talking about man? Excellence of PCS is unquestionable.
In either case, it's not a discussion for this spec thread
first i’ve heard of it
@trail kelp that’s what I’ve been told over the phone.
And OMG is that cringe. It’s a company not a cult
Welcome to the PCS cult
It's my impression over my experience with them. And yes, my thoughts - for me - are a cult.
