#Trying to get first pc

Trying to get a well performing and long lasting pc to replace my gaming laptop.
Budget of around £1500 including monitor and keyboard.
I'm not bothered about aesthetics really so can focus budget on more important parts.
Not bothered about 4k resolution monitor at the moment.
Based in the UK

Ideally want it to last for as long as possible, but obviously parts could be upgraded later if needed.
Thanks

just the keyboard, or KB and mouse?

Just keyboard, got a good mouse for the laptop

Thanks alot, just some quick questions if that's alright. How worth is it to get a ryzen 7 Vs a 5 and is the monitor only 1080p? How much more would it be for a 1440p one

slow galleon
#

well the R7 7800X3D/9800X3D would be best, but your budget just simply doesn't fit either of those CPUs, you could certainly get one of the X3Ds in there, at the cost of gimping the rest of the PC massively.

with your budget, 1440p gaming isn't all that great, the 5060 TI certainly can do 1440, just not fantastically, it's comfort zone is very much 1080

#

the monitor is 1080p only, and to get a "worthwhile" 1440p monitor, the price would be 1550 quid with this one

#

there is a cheaper MSI one for 129, but it's only 100hz, not something I'd personally call a gaming monitor

solid jewel
#

Ah alright, I don't know much about this tbh so thanks for the help. How important are things like the case/fans, is there anyway to reduce them or does this build have safety of the system in mind

#

Also would the motherboard be updated enough so that if i wanted to upgrade CPU/GPU in the future it would be compatible?

slow galleon
#

case fans are very important, especially in the build I made for you, but the case I selected already comes with enough fans for the PC

#

the 4 you see come included in the case

also consider upgrading may require a better PSU

slow galleon
#

upgrading basically will require a better PSU, even the next step up on the Nvidia food chain, the 5070, will need a different PSU, purely due to the connectors on the 650W CX, or rather lack there of

#

you also need a better cooler for any CPU upgrades, the frostflow 100 is a fine little cooler, but can't handle anything much more spicy than a 7600X really

main coral
#

on the bright side your ram + motherboard is fine for upgrades 😀 🫠

slow galleon
#

yup, RAM is in the AM5 sweetspot, not likely to need to upgrade that any time soon, if ever

solid jewel
#

Alright thanks for all the info, really appreciate it. Based on that for the budget the only thing I might consider is that 1440p option, my current laptop is 1440p but is only a 3070 so i don't think I've ever been able to run things on too high

slow galleon
#

yeah, the laptop 3070 never was exactly a spicy GPU to begin with, and now is probably best described as limp

solid jewel
#

It's a really weird mix as it has really good ram and Ryzen 9 but some other awful things

#

Anyway thanks for all the help 🙏

slow galleon
#

is that laptop from PCS by any chance?

#

because if it is, you can transfer the windows licence, and either save a chunk, or put it right back into the PC and not need to spend as much on later upgrades

#

mostly thinking the cooler could be a nice beefy 360 AIO

solid jewel
#

No unfortunately not

slow galleon
#

poo, then I can't be sure the licence can be transferred, thats something you'd need to find out yourself

#

you can also just opt not to get a windows licence for now, and get one later, windows will pester you however and some features won't be available

solid jewel
#

Yes I might do that actually, that saves around £100 right?

slow galleon
#

111 quid

main coral
#

you could probably scrape by 1440p now!!

slow galleon
solid jewel
#

I think that would be nice to get if possible, but performance is obviously more important

mb bout the ping btw

slow galleon
#

about 40 quid more for a cooler that can handle most any CPU you can throw at it

#

even as spicy a CPU as the 9850X/X3D, though I'd prefer a bigger cooler for that still, a 360mm AIO will still do well enough

solid jewel
slow galleon
#

yup

solid jewel
#

Nice thanks so much

#

Would the upgrade of the Ryzen to 7600 X be worth it with the rest of the build, still remains below £1500

slow galleon
#

the 7600X isn't all that much better tbh, barely any higher top boost, and with a beefy cooler the base speed will be made up for

solid jewel
#

Ok thanks

#

Would 1TB option be fine? I have that on my laptop and Idm constantly installing/uninstalling games to make room

slow galleon
#

it's bad for SSDs to go through too many read write cycles, plus windows is a fat [redacted] eats 130GB when it's allowed to, after that 1TB isn't all that much

solid jewel
#

Right so 2TB is a more safe option to prolong the life and make it just generally more convenient

indigo tundra
#

do make sure to remove norton from the order it has caused issues before and microsoft defender works just as well

solid jewel
#

I'll keep that in mind thanks

solid jewel
#

Is there anywhere price could go down if I wanted a 78003DX instead? Or is the only way to fit it in without risking anything by increasing the budget

indigo tundra
#

increase in budget would be needed

#

if your going to be at 1440p id say 5060 ti is probably the minimum you want to go

solid jewel
#

Would the rest of the build stay the same? Probs would need a better PSU right?

indigo tundra
#

rest of the build would stay the same

solid jewel
#

Alright thanks

indigo tundra
#

only time you would have to upgrade psu would be if you got a nvidia card above the 5060 ti

#

5070 and above would need a different power cable which the modular psus have

solid jewel
#

What's the chance of getting away with at b650 instead of b850 for the motherboard? Or is a 850 very important

indigo tundra
#

b850 has pcie 5 connector and has built in wifi

#

the 5060 ti uses pcie 5 so running on pcie 4 you would get a slight perofemance loss

#

the prime board is also a lower end board compared to the b850 tuf
