What is your budget? Around 6-6.6K GBP build currently sits at 5.6k
What is the intended purpose of the PC/Laptop? Gaming/ multiple monitor/ want it to last a while!
What resolution monitor will you be using? Would probably need advice on the monitor i should use to get the best results
What country will you be buying from? UK

I'm effectively looking for a bit of advice reference the build and if I'm missing anything that could really maximise the components I've choosen/ if ive missed anything off, i know my way around but im no expert ! PSB for build so far...

overall it's good, ghoulish overkill in some regards, but the biggest issue is the RAM, 96GB is way to much for average mortals, you'd get better performance with 64/32GB of RAM @ 6000MHz

A couple of things, you've chosen very slow RAM, the sweet spot for the AMD's is 6000Mhz
Also why do you think you need 96Gb, 32Gb is enough for most
Also the 9800x3d is generally seen at the best gaming CPU out there unless you want productivity as well

#

the 9950X3D is actually slightly better but obviously suffers price/performance in comparison

wind portal
#

Ah probably 🙂

I'd also not personally be comfortable with a single 8TB drive, in case of the drive failing thats a lot of data lost in one swing

thanks for the advice guys, really helpful. im going to take it on board, have changed ram to 64 at 6k and will split the SSD into 2 4tb just incase

Better to do something like 512Gb for the OS drive and then a bigger drive for everything else - then you can keep the OS separate

I'd recommend something like this, since you are spending a lot, link fans to keep it all on one ecosystem for the fans and lighting, and a super fast drive for the OS

#

What happened with the RAM DrLeft 🙂

scenic shuttle
#

oh damn, let me correct that

#

corrected, the one bloody thing that didnt carry over when switching the country on the page

ruby kraken
#

i think that will do it then ! lastly, the monitor, im not great with monitors and theres a sea of them out there, is 240hz really that important and with this build what monitor would you advise, if needs be i can get the monitor seperately

#

i want to sit infront of my PC and have my eyes melt

scenic shuttle
#

depends on the resolution, at 4k, it'd cost a bomb and you'd not reach 240fps without potato settings even on a 5090

#

2k you can probably reach 240fps to get full use of the 5090 and screen capability with little to no comprimize and AI snake oil

#

and if you plan on using 1080p you should find a corner and feel ashamed of yourself

wind portal
#

Personally unless youre doing competitive FPS gaming I don't think you need 240Hz anyway, so you may find that 144/165/180Hz is perfectly fine for you (though i'm getting older and slower so maybe its just me)

scenic shuttle
#

I am wondering though, as nice as the RGB strips are you chose, with that case it doesn't really have a place

#

it's already got strips around the front and side on the top and bottom, being a fishtank it's not really got a home either to be placed

ruby kraken
#

binned

scenic shuttle
#

maybe one here, but even then it's liable to be overkill

ruby kraken
#

nah i agree

#

i got carried away with lighting

#

would either of these suffice

scenic shuttle
#

I'd go with the Iiyama monitor, as expensive and big as the Asus is, it's using a VA panel, which is kinda old and not really all that
