Thanks for creating a spec thread!

Please be sure to include answers to the following questions so people can assist you quicker.

  • What is the purpose of your PC/laptop? (e.g. gaming, general work, 3D rendering)
  • What monitor resolution will you be using? (e.g. 1080p, 1440p, 4k)
  • What is your budget including currency symbol? (e.g. £2,000, 1000€)
  • Is this budget just for the PC or do you need peripherals as well? (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard etc.)
  • Which country are you purchasing from? (Note that we only operate in the UK and Europe)
  • Any brand preferences?

I worried about the cooler, the 14900 CPUs are VERY hot, and even a 360mm AIO struggles to keep up at the best of times, 280mm AIOs generally do compare favorably with 360mm AIOs, when factoring their size, but even so they aren't able to keep up

#

also, what is the plan for the GPU? integrated graphics generally aren't great, never were, and probably never will be

#

I just got the base pc i have a asus rog rtx 4080 super to go into it

#

the extra fans were added as i knew the core runs warmer then most was hoping the extra intake was enough but if it still runs hot in time might still change it out but unsure

dawn hamlet
#

is the PC already built or is it still in pre-production?

#

also, what do you plan on using the PC for? because depending on use, the PC could ahve been better for cheaper

civic warren
#

pc is used between a mix of gaming and 3d creative work as i do a heavy workload on design and my pc now just i guess aging a bit for the work

dawn hamlet
#

ok, then the RAM and CPU make sense

civic warren
#

yeah its why i did hope it was ok

dawn hamlet
#

the rainbow vomit aside, looks solid, the link fans are good, but you pay through the nose for the premium brand and premium convenience for the link

#

still waiting to know if the PC is built yet

#

because if you can, the 360 AIO might be worth considering

civic warren
#

yeah sorry i know the rainbow is a bit much but the reason for the case i had so much trouble with my previous case at the top connections being so close it was a pain to cable. Im hoping the new corsair case has plenty for more space

#

its still in the building stage

dawn hamlet
#

the case is pretty big, and easy to build in, and with the link it's much easier too, ah, its already reaching the buil,d stage, you'd be charged extra for changes at this point

civic warren
#

yeah i dont mind to pay if you think its worth the change

#

im unsure how hot the new 14th gen cores will run

dawn hamlet
#

not really, its about 10-15% better heat dissipation, on the high end

#

as for how hot they run, very, it's not uncommon for the 14900 CPUs to throttle when flat out on even 360 AIOs

civic warren
#

i see.. 😦 well hopefully for now it wont cause any issues but i guess time will tell

#

thank you for the help on it tho 🙂 and pointing out my mistake 🙂

dawn hamlet
#

its certainly a decent build, could hjave been better, and defo not nearly as much of a lemon as other PCs folks specc or had specced by "expert" friends

civic warren
#

thanks 🙂 i did do some research before hand but just tried to build for what i use it for

I'd normally have said the Mx4 paste is a waste, as the corsair coolers have a premium paste pre-applied, but as it is meant to be a quasi workstation, the mx-4 does help a little
