Thanks for creating a spec thread!

Please be sure to include answers to the following questions so people can assist you quicker.

  • What is the purpose of your PC/laptop? (e.g. gaming, general work, 3D rendering)
  • What monitor resolution will you be using? (e.g. 1080p, 1440p, 4k)
  • What is your budget including currency symbol? (e.g. £2,000, 1000€)
  • Which country are you purchasing from? (Note that we only operate in the UK and Europe)
  • Any brand preferences?

am5 would be a different config than this one so make sure you cancel this one if you have ordered it already. looks like you might have since it does say change to a lot on there

You seem to have the budget for am5 so not sure why you didn’t go with it

I would personally change your SSDs as you generally want a smaller one just for just windows and then a larger one as your second for all your games etc..

#

Just my opinion tho..

If it’s purely for gaming too then you’d be better off waiting for the 7800x3D to come back in stock, in a couple weeks time. I believe it’s still currently the best gaming CPU at this moment in time.

I'd change RAM to 6000 and agree with Mads on the storage

Though is the 4080 not just pure overkill for a 1080p screen?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day 😛

I've got a 1440p monitor but find the text too small

Ok, my mistake

But yes, CPU change, RAM Speed change, storage drive change. And might be better to get a Corsair fan to match the ones on the AIO?

I'll try that thank you

Unless it's a 24" monitor, in games text shouldn't be an issue on 1440p
And in Windows, you can always use the...erm...whatever the built-in upscaling is called

#

'Scale'...just that

#

It's a 27"

But will try that thank you

It's just on desktop

Thank you so much for the advice 🙂

#

This is rough changes

#

The others can probably give advice better than me but that keeps the basics the same as what you had, with the necessary upgrades

#

Obviously will have to change the CPU but I can’t select it right now with it being out of stock

Thank you

You could drop down to the 4070ti Super and save yourself a bit of extra cash. I could be wrong but I don’t think it comes up much short of the 4080 super, it’s pretty close to the performance of it. So you wouldn’t be missing out on too much.
