@mellow zinc : I know its cheaper and better to just upgrade my pc, but I calculated that I'd be spending just as much as I would when buying a whole new one,
my current specs are:
Intel Core 15-9400F, Nvidia RTX 2060 6GB, 16GB RAM, 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 550W 80+ PSU, Wifi, Windows 11, J24 RGB.

I do graphics/motion designs as a side hustle, so i need something that can improve my process speeds.
I do play games too like warzone, fps shooters etc, ATM when i play cod my task manager says im using 90% on my cpu and gpu.

Gaming and use of photoshop and after affects.
1080p
maximum £1.3k, would prefer 1k
Purchasing from UK
I like nvidia graphios cards, and I want a recommendation on whats better for gaming: Intel or Ryzen

Thanks for creating a spec thread!

Please be sure to include answers to the following questions so people can assist you quicker.

  • What is the purpose of your PC/laptop? (e.g. gaming, general work, 3D rendering)
  • What monitor resolution will you be using? (e.g. 1080p, 1440p, 4k)
  • What is your budget including currency symbol? (e.g. £2,000, 1000€)
  • Which country are you purchasing from? (Note that we only operate in the UK and Europe)
  • Any brand preferences?

Do you need a windows license?

#

Let's try it
i think I would go in that direction (but I'm just a beginner not a specialist, just a hobbyist, so mistakes are not excluded)

I should have a solid performance for 1080p, but does not have a windows license.
Also a bit over your maximum, so perhaps a bit a cheaper CPU or GPU would also be good.

To your question, I prefere AMD CPU's generally, and the actuall best gaming CPU is from AMD. I think generally, the AMD CPU's are a bit better at gaming performance for the same price as intel.

If DrLeft or B4zookaw post a build, it is most likely the better choice 😄

Noting that that build does assume you have a Windows license you can transfer over or just have one spare anyway, if you dont that would one need to be added

Ah sorry, forgot to mention about the license.

If you are not to focused on an nvidia card you could take the AMD RX 7700 XT. It should be a bit better at most tasks than the 4060 TI and a bit cheeper.
Perhaps the CPU you could also downgrade to the Ryzen 5 7500F, which should also get you a solid performance

Ah, and im absolutely unsure about the cooler for either of those CPU's.... sorry

If it's editing moreso, then I'd be looking at an Intel build with 64GB RAM minimum for Photoshop and After Effects. This setup will still be good for 1080p gaming but focuses more on the CPU/RAM rather than the GPU.
