7950X3D is unnecessary in like 99% of use cases and also RAK is slow for DDR5.
đźš« rachaelt123, you can't use that.
Since I don’t know the bot command: what is your use case? (If gaming, games, resolution and refresh rate of your monitor?)
i only chose that over 7800x3d as thought i could get more years out of this one as i ideally want to keep this at least 6/7 years and only upgrade stuff like graphics card to 50/60 series when out and ram to 64gb if needed in meantime but if over time there wouldn't be too much difference with that i'd go 7800x3d. With the ram i wasn't sure if 5200 vs 6000 would make too much difference in performance. I play at 1440p 180hz on my monitor (may upgrade to 4k144hz) and 4k 120hz on my tv. I play a wide range of games from fortnite, cod, single player games like hogwarts legacy and sports games like fifa and golf/tennis games and simulation games like cities skylines 2, planet coaster/zoo and similar.
plus games like cyberpunk and spiderman etc but yet to buy them. those types of games would be what i would play too
racing games like forza horizon and crew motorfest too
For 4K this is genuinely as low as I would go price wise. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am5-pc/dY5xAAY8A7/ (could save a little by going for the 7900XTX)

1440p I can get closer to the budget - the 7600X should be fine. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am5-pc/SpjGMSAbsk/

Thanks. I'll probably go for 4080 super. I don't need a windows license as already got one I can use on it. May upgrade cpu cooler to corsair unless this frostflow one is still good for that processor long term?
I think the frostflow would be fine + would work better with the fans,
I also probably wouldn’t go with an A620 for a 7800X3D - those boards are designed more for lower end CPUs eg 7500F and 7600
I also don’t recommend the PCS SSD’s. Also HDD’s aren’t a good choice for storage (really slow) so I suggest a 512GB windows drive and a 2TB for other things (though you could up this further)

Thanks. I'm fine with hdd as my 2nd drive as it's only for games I play less often and will have my main ones on the ssd as that's how I have it atm but main is a much slower not nvme ssd. thanks for the main ssd info as would have just got pcs ones thinking they'd be fine. Is there any difference between b650 with and without WiFi other than the WiFi? As its cheaper to get non WiFi and get a WiFi card? In terms of the cooler I've decided to go a tiny bit overkill and get the lcd one as been wanting one of them for a while. I know it's a bit expensive but I want it to look nice too
basically it's just WiFi and Bluetooth
Thanks. I'll just get non WiFi one and add WiFi card as its cheaper that way. Plus it will 99% of the time be on ethernet as years ago sky added an ethernet connection my room for sky multiscreen
Think i'm almost there now. are additional case fans of much worth with my build or are they more for show?

2nd ssd is supposed to be one up but accidentally chose pcs one
2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW)
There worth more
I know they are like another ÂŁ20 but i'm just trying to figure out if i would be fine without them or if they would provide any benefit other than looking nice
Not really cause your case already comes with 4 of the so it’s not much cooler
Thanks. I'll probably just not bother with them. Is that case known for being a good one?
Yes
thanks
I'd recommend you change to the Frost flow 240
The cooling capacity is the same, but the RGB will be on the same ecosystem, and as a bonus you won't need to fight with RGB
it will also cost a fair chunk less
I'd recommend you change to the B650 TUF, I recall you'd said you'd prefer a card because of the price, however the TUF isn't just the wifi/BT built in, the expansion options on the TUF is better, 3 m.2 slots over 2 on the prime
the TUF also has heatsink coverage for all m.2 slots, instead of just the 5.0 slot

I would also however recommend, due to the case, to opt for a 360 Frostflow, and 3 additional fans, over 2, just so there aren't any awkward gaps

thanks for the advice and links i'll take all that on board and knowing that about the motherboard is useful. is there much difference between the tuf and gigabyte aorus as not much between them in price? in terms of the frostflow it is what i may go for however I do also fancy treating myself to the lcd cooler but it is my first area to change to make it cheaper. With my case is the 3 extra fans worth getting compared to none at all?
it helps keep temps down with the additonal intake, but you don't need them really, it's just nice to have
as for the LCD cooler, you can buy a small LCD panel, they is larger, so can show more, and is cheaper, all while not having the massive headaches that is iCue.
Corsairs hardware is very good, but as good as their hardware is, their software is equally ass.
iCue is legitimately terrible, it works well sometimes, but far more often than not it is just pitching a fit
as for the difference between the TUF and Gigabyte, not much of a difference to be honest
to be sure, the B650TUF, vs the B650 Auros, the D3SH is an mATX board, is is kinda bad
Thanks I may get them to help with how it looks. Thanks for telling me that. I would mainly have used it to display things like gifs and pictures to add a bit of personalisation rather than displaying temperatures but if much of the time it doesn't work properly or a pain to change then yeah it wouldn't be worth getting. yeah i meant the b650 just wanted to make sure as that was next one up
an LCD panel would be a far better choice, just for the additonal real estate, and not having to deal with iCue
thanks i'll probably do that then. would the corsair h60x or h100x be as good in terms of hardware than the frostflow 360
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Temperature-Display-Monitor-Control-Dynamic-default/dp/B0BCGFWMN8
first result on amazon for me, connects via USB, and all you need is AIDA 64 to make it display whatever you want, still cheaper than dealing with an iPoo cooler and it's itty bitty screen
How to Use: Instructions: Connect the mini secondary screen to your computer and star our custom software. No need for AIDA 64, no other cumbersome settings Why the graphics card data does not move: Generally speaking, for notebook users, usually the discrete graphics card is in standby mode, and...
the x60 is a 120mm AIO, the 100 is a 240mm AIO, the FF360 is a 360mm AIO, so has the best cooling capacity
thanks. Is that frostflow reliable enough too like would it be expected to last 5 years?
it should last 5 or so years, AIOs are liable to die any time, and oddly enough I've seen more reports on this discord about the corsair pumps failing early, rather than the frost flow ones
thats not great for corsair. thanks for your help
might have been a bad batch, rough transport either to PCS, or from, or just folks more vocal about it because brand name, I don't work for PCS so can't see the RMA numbers for either
fair enough it happens. Glad i wasn't looking at intel with all the faulty cpus theyre dealing with
to be fair, there was an issue with the x3D chips exploding, mostly a motherboard and AMD miscommunication, and was solved quickly, the power limits were too high, and if a cooler couldn't keep up, the chip died a miserable death. it wasn't a fundamental flaw in the CPU though
Fair enough. Was it to do with the coolers at all?
not really, the board fed too much power, heating the CPU past safe limits, and it caused the CPU to explode, once the max power was limited the CPUs stopped going pop
