Thanks for creating a spec thread!

Please be sure to include answers to the following questions so people can assist you quicker.

  • What is the purpose of your PC/laptop? (e.g. gaming, general work, 3D rendering)
  • What monitor resolution will you be using? (e.g. 1080p, 1440p, 4k)
  • What is your budget including currency symbol? (e.g. ÂŁ2,000, 1000€)
  • Which country are you purchasing from? (Note that we only operate in the UK and Europe)
  • Any brand preferences?

Please make sure you answer the BOT's questions, also note, we can only advise on PCSpecilaist builds so will not be advising anywhere else at all

elfin current
#

sorry did not see the questions

#

I will be using it for gaming

#

I'm using a 1440p monitor, my budget is a maximum of 1500. I'm in the uk and I would prefer an AMD cpu

ornate arrow
#

What's the refresh rate on your monitor?

elfin current
ornate arrow
#

AAA titles or eSports?

elfin current
#

Sorry ?

olive sable
#

They were basically asking what sorts of games do/will you play

elfin current
#

Oh sorry lol. I'll probably mainly play rainbow 6 siege, valorant, minecraft maybe fortnite

ornate arrow
#

Yeah it's overkill for those games but it will last a while.

#

You can dabble into high demand games and be fine too.

#

R6 will be 400+ FPS lol.

#

Should try out Cyberpunk or RDR2 to see true beauty.

elfin current
#

Oh nice ok thanks. Is it worth the price then ? Also will I need to add a harddrive as it only has SSD

ornate arrow
#

No.

#

HDD are pretty much obsolete lmao.

#

Try and get the highest space NVME you can afford.

#

PCIE 4 isn't that expensive these days.

elfin current
#

Okay, thanks very much ! (:

#

Often if you can wait a better more tailored machine cna be designed for your specific circumstances though - I'm no good at speccing up machines though

#

Hopefully a few of the guys who are good at speccing machines up may have some time to help

ornate arrow
#

It's better to custom build but if you can't wait then the ready to ship pc isn't a bad idea.

elfin current

#

You can build it yourself by buying parts.

#

Or you could spec it up on PCS and get it shipped.

Just keep the above in mind

Ah right.

Sorry.

You cant just base your whole new PCs components off one thing (ie the GPU) you really need the whole spec but we cannot help if it is not a PCS build.

elfin current
olive sable
#

Well spec-up a PCS build and poeple will be happy to look at it for you

elfin current
#

I have made one but it doesn't work when I copy the link

olive sable
#

Are you pressing 'proceed' from your config, then 'post to forums' to get to the page where it shows your specs?
If not, no you wont get the right link. You need to follow those instructions and copy the link from below the spec list

elfin current
#

Oh no I wasn't, thank you lol

elfin current
gleaming dagger
#

Do your config -> Proceed -> Scroll down -> Post spec to Forums

elfin current
#

I haven't got that anywhere

gleaming dagger
#

Then you did not press 'Proceed'

elfin current
#

I definitely did

gleaming dagger
#

Seems like something's iffy with your browser then

elfin current
#

Could I just write the specs in myself then ?

gleaming dagger
#

I'd do a copy pasta

elfin current
#

OK thankyu

olive sable
#

Oh is that still a next day one? dont think you get the post to forums option with them, but the top link for it should work as they are mostly unconfigurable

#

Only changes you can make to those are peripherals/external stuff to the PC/delivery options

should i use 4070 super, 7800XT or 7900 GRE for the gpu ?

olive sable
#

And what is your budget again, originally you said 1500 but that screenie above shows somewhat more than that

#

And as I pointed out briefly in the other thread, we kinda need to see the whole spec

elfin current
#

Idk what you mean that is everything in it ?

#

What else is there?

#

I copied the whole thing

#

Well it was 2000, 1500 on pc and 500 on a new monitor, keybaord , mouse and headset

#

But I don't mind spending more on the pc because I do have a monitor, keyboard and mouse they are just old

#

Also would it be worth getting ryzen 7 7700 or stick to ryzen 5 7600?

true imp
#

more cores is not more better, the 7600 is just fine for gaming

#

from the above spec, you're likely better off with the TUF b650 board, and it should save some money while you're at it

#

since the budget allows for more, I went with the best gaming CPU around right now,

the GPU is also a pretty solid AMD option,

and the storage has a separate drive for windows to be fat and greedy on, that allows the system overall to stay as fast as possible as the the more full an OS drive gets, the slower it gets

#

on average the 7900GRE is better than the 4070 super, and still costs less

elfin current
#

Wow thanks very much

#

So is it not worth getting a 4070 super then?

#

I feel like i've heard not very good stuff about the AMD gpu's but idk

olive sable
#

AMD used to have a lot of driver issues, but that was a good number of years ago now, so doesnt really apply anymore

elfin current
true imp
#

the power use is about even I think, also, AMD don't use the weird 12VHPWR PSU cable, which even now still has some issues, partly user error, but when it's hard to tell it's actually in correctly I can't quite blame the user

#

the GRE has a max power draw of 260W according to some sources, and the 4070 super has a max of about 220W, it's not a huge difference

elfin current
#

Oh right, idk why I thought that then lol

#

Do you guys think it would be worth upgrading to a 240 hz monitor? I have a 165hz at the moment but apparently there isn't much difference so i'm not sure if I should

true imp
#

165 is plenty for 99% of people, only if you play super competitive games is it a possibly worthwhile upgrade

elfin current
#

Yeah, that's what I thought as well, thanks

true imp
#

you'd also need to be able to hit that refresh with the FPS, so you either tank settings, or get a better GPU, and personally I value a prettier picture over insane FPS

elfin current
#

Yeah that's true, I'm sure i'll be fine with what I have now

#

If I wanted to lower the costs a bit, would it be fine with a ryzen 5 7600 for the CPU ? Or stick with the ryzen 7

true imp
#

I'd recommend you stick with the 7800X3D, it's the best around and would save you more in the long run, however if you had to cut costs, the 7600/7600X would still be solid CPUs
