you need to level up to post a link, so you need to chat some more to do so
thank you, sorry about that

21:9, 1440p, 144hz. Primarily used for gaming, just need some build advice

is this just for gaming?
nvm, just properly read that
yeah, if you want to make a PC last as long as possible AMD processors are the way to go right now

A single pound over the 2200GBP mark, but it has the current best gaming CPU, slightly more storage with a drive where windows can be fat without sharing, and you'll have u[grade options when the zen 5 CPUs come out oif you feel you need to upgrade

i see, but Im a bit more confortable with intel. Is 12700k really that much inferior?
for gaming, very much so
it would have a slight edge on productivity, but the 7800X3D really is the current best gaming CPU by far
and the upgrade options for that intel CPU are 13th gen and 14th gen, which aren't all that much better for gaming
Also, intel and Unreal engine 5 games don't get along too well, there is something with the hyperthreading that causes instability and crashes, so you either have to downclock or disbale the hyprethreading
your spec is fine however, but 5 years is a long shot for PCs in general, and for intel especially right now with the 15th gen looping over the horizon
I would change the storage to the one I speced in case you want to go ahead with intel, you'd likely save some money and get more from it
Ill have a think about AMD, I just always owned intel and it feels more comfortable for me. Whats the difference between the storage you specified and the ones i selected? besides price
well it's less waste, windows is best on it's own drive with as little else on the same drive, as the fuller an OS drive gets, the slower the whole system becomes, hence a smaller, faster drive for windows.
for games and general use the storage doesn't need to be as fast, even a gen 3 m.2 would be fine, so you can put the money toward more space than more speed
if you wanted to do some serious editing then you'd see the difference in the drive speeds, but thats it's really
I see, Ill have a think about that too. But overall, if I end up going for 12700k, besides storage, is everything else fine? Like cooler etc
You can drop the mx4 paste, the cooler already comes with a premium paste pre applied
If you go for a 14600 CPU you might get more for less
oh this really piqued my interest. Specifically 14600K. Would that be fine for UE5 stuff?
i like the lower power consumption and i was considering even going for 850w just incase and i could freely drop to 750w
Same story, intel hyperthreading and UE5 don't get along
You do still need to check p core and e core counts and speed if you really are getting a better CPU
@old pond Thank you for all the help, I actually have been researching the 7800X3D and i can see how it is the superior choice. I was squeemish about going team red, but Im sold.
2 recommendations I got though was to still go for the 240 AIO for cooling and apparently 6000 MHZ ram have stability issues and to go down to 5600? Can you give some advice on that
6000MHz has stability issues with over 32GB RAM, so if you want more either Gigabyte boards are needed, or drop the speed
Im still only thinking 32GB as that seems more than enough for the next couple of years. So would 6000MHZ be fine then?
and also apparently, 240 Frostflow is out of stock, so should I just go for 360?
if you want to save a few quid, the Frostflow 200 will do, the FF 360 is still a good option, for cooling overkill is generally a good idea
As for noise, how is the 360 FF? Is it alright? Or is Corsair h100x the better option then? I dont mind if its a few quid more or less, just trying to find a decent cooling+noise option. On that note, the case you suggested, is good enough for all that?
the corsair H100 is a 240mm radiator, so about oin par with the FF240, as for noise, the corsair AIOs are quieter, but they cost a whole lot more and iCue is an almighty PITA
the closest cooling comparison would be one of the h150 coolers
Are the PCS Frostflow coolers the same as ID-Cooling Frostflow? Just rebrand?
yeah, the PCS Frostflow are rebranded ID colling
ive been looking at it and im pretty happy with everything except for the cooling options. I keep reading that AIOs are often louder, but then also cant find much info on noise/performance for the FrostFlow 200. I wish there was more selection with aircoolers.
Quite a bit of advice online I saw that Aircoolers are preferable and I honestly feel more comfortable with that. But i dont want to have gone through all this trouble in configuring everything and then end up with an insufficient cooling solution. I should mention that I can be a bit sensitive to noise. Any advice?
generally the 7800X3D isn't as insanely hot, so a tower cooler like the FF200 or the AK620 would do fine, and the noise for air cooler vs AIO is dependent on use, at the low end, AIOs are generally quieter, but can cool better, and even then, much of the noise is the fans
also, when the GPU is going flat out it'll make it's own fair share of noise.
AIOs can also benefit the overall airflow of the case, if it's mounted on top it will help pull the hot air from the GPU out, without needing extra fans
speaking of the case, do you have any recommendations for a good case that could dampen some of the fan noise?
PCS don't have much in the ways of noise optimized cases that won't strangle the system, I currently have my PC in the be quiet FX 500, but if you wanted that one you'd have to buy it yourself and send it in
they did just add the bequiet 800FX, costs a pretty penny, and it is pretty big, but be quiet! make a point of living up to their name, and it won't stangle the system
on your original bild, you left out a windows licence, will you be trandferring another licence you already have?
yes from my laptop I dont use
which already has windows 11

had to turn down the RAM speed a little, but you can still go for the TUF B650 motherboard and go for the FF360, since the heat would be spread across more radiator, the fans won't need to run as fast, making less noise

and Im probably gonna get the £69 warranty for peace of mind

I'd recommend this, to keep in budget and keep noise down

from my 500FX, I can leave the top filter on, and the PC becomes basically silent when idle, but airflow suffers when gaming and general high demand use, but even with the top filter off it's really quiet
do you have a 360 AIO?
also what are the motherboard differences
I dont know/have not researched the MOBOs almost at all
From everything I've read I really would prefer the FF 200. Will it be able to keep temps around 65 while gaming and around 80 at heavy load?
I'm currently using a FF 240 AIO,
the motherboard differences are mostly the rear IO, m.2 slots and PCIe slots
