Generally looks good! I would recommend dropping the motherboard to the tuf x670e, and getting a faster 1TB m.2 drive, like the SOLIDIGM p44 in it's place
I recommend the TUF version because it is a mostly black motherboard, and the strix is silver and white, so may end up looking weird in a black case
Thank you for your advice, how would I go about changing it? I don't see the option on the website.
while it's in processing it might not let you amend, once it hits pre-production the amend option should appear
but even if you should choose not to make a change the system will be solid
Correct. During processing (paperwork and payment verification) you won't be able to amend your order.
Once it is in pre-prod, there will be an option to amend/update your order.
You just won't be able to swap from AMD to Intel. Everything else, pretty much freedom
Ok, I'll keep an eye out for that. I was aware that it was a white motherboard, I just had read it was a good one. Thanks for saying that it would be solid though, I've been agonising over this for months whilst saving. I've tried to teach myself somewhat to the point I was going to build it myself. It's just there wasn't a huge price difference for me that would make me want to make that a reality.
it should show under the actions column IIRC
Thank you
I'd agree on the SSD upgrades, 970 EVO is gen 3. The only other thing to note is that some of your fans will be Link ones, the rest PWM, so you'll have a mix of wiring. It will all work together, but just to call that out.
There is the option for me to amend the order now actually.
What would you suggest I change the SSD's to again? Both or just one?
just the 1TB one, the faster that drive is,as windows will be one it, the faster the whole system will be
one of these two is just fine for that
Honestly, whilst changing it for a faster one, I'd also pull it down to a 500GB drive....for Windows and Windows only (+ those pesky apps that insist on being on C:)
Ok, I'll make those suggest changes
Mobo is now the TUF X670E
SSDS are now 512 P44 and the 2TB P44
I've saved £9
Then you're golden, and can take comfort that if it doesn't perform well, you can blame Achilles.
Make sure to add silver warranty!
Think it's a £5 or £7, totally no brainer
And for payment for everyones help - you must post pics in #1128254319859355698 when it turns up 🙂
I've gone with Gold.
Ohh.... someone has money to burn! 😛
well they are getting a mortgage for a 4090, so they may as well!
I am a very fortunate person right now. It's always been my dream to have a great PC. This is going to sound odd, I do have friends who play PC and know about parts but as soon as I show them what I want they tell me why what I've built is rubbish and I should go cheaper. But I'm really happy with it and as I said, i'm fortunate I can afford it.
them saying it's rubbish and should go cheaper are likely just visited by the green eyed monster, that PC will be the best gaming PC you can get without overclocking and fully liquid cooled
Agreed.
7800X3d is the best CPU for gaming at this time, and the 4090 is the best consumer GPU at this time
You've all been super helpful and non-judgemental and I just wish I had mates that were the same. But, in them being off with me it's allowed me to do my research and get the PC for my money.
Your friends are talking out their 🍑
I am judging the hell out of you for the corsair fans, and with it iCue woes and all the unicorn dandruff that comes with it
Haha
DrLeft doesnt like RGB
I'm not the biggest fan of RGB. My original build had the Fractal Meshify and no RGB but they didn't have the Meshify on there anymore so I went with the Corsair, at least I didn't go fully white and can turn the lights off!
preferably none of the poo brown Noctua fans
I almost hit the AK620 with the Fractal Torrent but it just didn't sit right with me.
the AK620 is a perfectly fine cooler for the 7800X3D, the AMD CPUs might be hot, but they aren't nearly the infernos that the current gen Itnel ones are
My gut said go team rainbow, you're older and wiser now! GET WITH THE YOUTH!
Yeah I absolutely agree, the AK620 is great for it, and a lot cheaper too, but my budget could swing upwards like that thankfully.
I don't know. long term, which I plan to have this, there isn't enough evidence that either system of cooling is better that I've found? I could be wrong, I've only been reading forums.
the h150 does have better cooling capacity, and should the zen 5 CPUs also have X3D variants, then it would likely not need a cooler upgrade to come with, where the AK620 might not be enough
that being said, you won't need to upgrade for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time
I waited a decade for this upgrade I can wait another decade 🙂
I haven’t read up (yet) but gold or platinum warranty is worth it and it’s not my fault lol
I went with Gold warranty.
Also your friends are just jealous 😉 that’s a beast of a machine.
Thank you, I have always been a champion for anyone's achievments, purchases, passions. No judgements. I just wish people, even at my age would grow a bit a treat me the same way.
100% I get more excited for people than I do myself haha 🙂 keep us updated on your journey and hopefully you stick around in #🗨️general-discussion
The only reason why your friends might be saying to go cheaper is the GPU choice
The 4090 is technically a workstation card...or at least intended to be one. A 4080 would be fantasatic in your build as well.
But, if you got the cash, get that 4090 for those couple of extra FPS and bragging rights
I plan on it, it is nice to have the validation here. Thank you buddy 🙂
I was watching a chap on YouTube, he covers Super Ultrawide monitors like mine (5120x1440) and the 4080 was definitely in contention for the winner. I don't really want to brag to anyone, but it might feel good when I slip it into conversation with my wife or cat...
Right, you mentioned a cat...let's go there as well whilst we're at it...
Where is the PC going to live? As in placement
That looks like a great build and I'm sure you'll be very happy with it! Look forward to seeing it in #1128254319859355698 🙂
I recently retired from my trade which I had been working in for a couple of decades, I want to be able to expand my horizons in the future and I might eventually work at this PC. I will retrain but I'm not sure into what profession. So even though I'd have to make adjustments. I've given myself that as an option.
of course, It's on a 4-6 build track, but including the bank holiday, it should be here week after next I reckon.
I'm going to have to get a bigger desk so I can place it on the desk. My elder PC is on a tray underneath my desk, and she's on her last legs. Literally, she only turns on when she's laying on her side.
The cat is named Buddy and he doesn't really care for my current PC. He does leave a lot of hair on my desk though.
Okay, those are the things I wanted to hear 😉
Best option, on the desk
Second best, on a tray under the desk
It's not about the cat caring or not...it's those pesky shedded hairs and dust
With a widescreen, a desk like mine is called for. 160x80
Right now I'm working off of a desk which is as wide as the monitor. I got myself a monitor arm to clear some space underneath which the cat tends to take up whilst he attacks my mouse, will have to go wireless.
Fortunately my cat doesn't climb on me or my desk when I'm gaming.. or mess around with cables actually. She sits at my feet and screams at me for food instead
He does that also... He ignores me when I've got my steering wheel out and i'm playing Euro Truck Simulator. But as soon as the mouse wire is flicking about, it's hunting time.
in that case I recommend investing in the G512/G512 hero and the G915
Cool! I'll upgrade to those. Anti-Cat Hardware.
Very RGB heavy recommendation 😛
yes, but mine is mostly a low light level blue for when it's dark, and off otherwise
That's the keyboard, what mouse do you suggest?
Or G903
Doc and I are Logitech "Ambassadors"
I myself got the G903 and the G915....super happy with both
(and you can turn the RGB off if you don't like it)
if you want a no muss no fuss set, G603 and G613, the batteries last forever, but has no RGB
Which of the mice is heavier?
as in, I changed the batteries once every 6 or so months with cosntant daily use
G603 is slightly heavier
like 10 gram or so
Cool, I've always like that resistance, it reminds me of when I first started using a PC.
Heavy roller ball in the mouse?
Exactly 🙂
The G903 also has weights you can add/remove according to preference
Yes I just was reading about that.
same with the 502, but it still won't be quite as heavy as the 603
I think I'm going to go with the G903. Regarding the Logitech G915 Keyboard, my current one has a wrist rest, any you'd recommend?
I don't know if that's odd, I built and restored furniture for 20 years and my hands and wrists are not as supple and flexible as they once were! They need to be supported.
Alienware keyboard and mouse it’s all you’ll need 🙂
Re wrist rest...and please note that this is personal experience and mileage might vary...
As the G915 is a low profile keyboard, I really don't need a wrist rest anymore. Yes, it took me a couple of days of getting used to it buut now it's pretty much perfection for me
There is no unnatural lifting of hands when using this keyboard
Lifting? More like "angling up at the wrist"
I'm used to a big chunky razer keyboard. Maybe I'll get used to it's low profile, like you said.
I've come from the Blackwidow Chroma V2 to the G915
I went from the G613 to the G915, so from a beefy to a slim keyboard, and while I was leery of the slip keyboard, a year+ later, I can say the slim keyboard is more comforatble, even without a handrest
Ordered the G915 and a G502. I realised the G502 was more to the shape of my current mouse which I'm happy with.
The only thing I forgot to do was use a promo code on the PC order. I could have saved £30.
I went from Zoom65 V2 to M0110 to Neo65, and that's just this morning.... But in terms of wrist support etc, it;s about what works for you and your style of typing. I'd be looking at the overall ergonomics, including how you sit in the chair, angle of elbows, how close keyboard is to you etc. It's the sum of all the parts that impacts your comfort.
I will need a new chair soon, a bigger desk too.
while I can't give direct advice about ergonomics, for the love of all that is good and holy, do not buy a gaming chair, they are bad office chairs with an ugly trim
Derived from the natural evolution of the human body, our enhanced ergonomic office chair embodies scientific design. It adjusts your posture, safeguards your lower back, thighs, and neck. Whether at the office, gaming, or resting, it offers comprehensive body support and serves as a versatile workstation.
I never would buy a gaming chair.
as a Sihoo user, I can confrim mine is good and has been a great investment
Sihoo gang assemble! I Think that's Dr, Mibu, Achilles and me.
Four fat asses don't lie! 😛
I'm on the thicker side of weight and I'm 6'1 so I'm going to need something that support the girth and density.
I am 5 11, and about 130KG, so it should be fine for the height range they work with
it's 6 3 and up where they might start being too small
And about 85Kg according to the nurse who weighed me last weekend
6ft and 85kg? do you rattle when shook? 😛
I'm a bit dubious about the weighing scale in said hospital....
That's a goal weight for me.
I go up and down in weight like a yo-yo I have my whole life. It's as if in winter I eat more.
Don't we all....
I say yes to potato!
I'll keep an eye on Sihoo. They have some good looking chairs.
They run offers frequently and they list on Amazon too, so keep an eye out for a bargain
Late to the game but...
SIHOO chair I went for (C300) was one of my best decisions made in recent months
Maybe even years
Not late, that is great thank you. I've never bought a decent chair for myself.
I heard Sihoo and came running
Sihoooooooo
Best chair I’ve ever owned highly highly recommend them
I’m very happy with my secret lab chair 😛 good support for someone with a bad back
I'm in the checkout with the c300 right now. Says its on sale too.
You my friend have just made the best decision of your life
Cool, ill check it out. My back isn't the problem it's posture for me.
One of the best decisions lately was coming here to talk to you lot. I'm very grateful.
Also, I just have to decide. Black or white?
Black. White might get grubby
I have grey and wish I went black if they did it in that colour for my variant
The cat is ginger...
If your cat claws furniture keep the chair away from them lol
aww look at him, he clearly hasn't had his turn with the single braincell all ginger cats share in a long time
Haha well he might like your padded seat on the sihoo
Absolutely did not have charge of the braincell right here ❤️
I already have one of those. He sleeps in it.
He was downloading it in this photo.
Today I have bought the PC
The mouse and keyboard
And the chair...
Can I just say thank you again for all your help and advice. Once I've got the desk and set up looking swell I'll make sure I'll post a photo.
Today your bank balance hurts but so worth it haha
I know right!
I cannot wait for all the pieces to come together. I have to get a bigger desk. I was building one a while ago and I never finished the legs, it was about a foot bigger than what I currently have so I think that'll do.
Spent my whole day reorganising my office ready for the new pc! Got the new mouse today, keyboard tomorrow. Looking for a wireless headset now.
The PRO X Wireless LIGHTSPEED Gaming Headset. Engineered for the extreme performance you expect from PRO X – now with 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED wireless with up to 20+ hours on a single charge and a consistently robust wireless connection at 13+ m distance. Blue VO!CE technology uses real-time filters t...
Keep it all in the Logitech ecosystem
I mean I wouldn't priortise battery life over audio quality, mic clarity and comfort....
I think that's the one, I'm liking this eco system. Thanks buddy.
I have had a blue yeti mic for donkeys, absolutely love it, I have to get the official boom arm and a new yeti at some point as my current one has cross threaded underneath where it would attach. I had to get a special mount for it 3d printed and managed to get a cheap arm off of Amazon which works pretty well. I fear it breaking though as the blue yeti carries some weight.
When my status switched to "in building", the anticipation
likely to go into testing in an hour or 2, testing often is the longest part
I'm happy to wait, I dont even have a delivery date for my desk chair yet and my old one is being collected on Thursday
Due to the bank holidays, there might be quite the queue. But, with a little luck, you might have your new shiny toy by the end of the week
Cool! That would be amazing. I have spent the Bank Holiday preparing my office space. Re-built my desk, which has given me space to put the PC on top beside the ultrawide. The wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse have arrived, the wireless headphones get here tomorrow. Hopefully the desk chair and the PC come this week to then.
Most therapeutic experience I've had in ages
Come to think of it do you remember how long it took for your Sihoo c300 chair to arrive after ordering? I've not got any tracking information at all.
I ordered from Amazon...think at the time it was Prime delivery so it was rather quick for me
Ok, thanks. I ordered directly.
Same, from Amazon
Same, from Amazon, I felt left out.
me 4
My reasoning for going via Amazon were the reviews
They've shown me that support and such, in case something goes wrong, SIHOO is amazign in helping their customers. And this mixed with Amazon returns and their logistics just made it a no brainer....especially as the discounts and sales they have on their own SIHOO site are also reflected on Amazon
Had a minor issue with one of my arm rests on delivery, Sihoo sent out a replacement very promptly
I went through directly because of the payment options, something to think about in future though.
After some research it's coming with FedEx and their site says it's usually within 7 days so I should be good for this week.
Had my pc a few days and I'm getting "Pump Error" messages. The lights are flashing red and then it all blacks out. Been in contact with PC specialist. Was going to post a photo and all that but I'm just feeling a bit gutted right now about it. I've run the tests that was asked of me by the PC specialist person and I'm waiting on reply but I just wanted to explain why I've not posted anything about it yet.

Also the Sihoo chair is arriving today, apparently. At least I'll be comfortable.
I'm not going to do anything until PC specialist gets back to me via email but can anyone ELI5 this error message to me, please.
BIOS doesn't detect your AIO. Might be as simple as a lose connection
Thank you. That would be the best case scenario I suppose. 👍🏼
I’d call them rather than email it’ll be faster
Right-o, the chap I spoke to gave me a list of questions over email which I responded to this morning. So I just figured I would email and wait. I'll call them soon though. Thanks mate.
Yeah the Corsair Aio has a cable that connects to the FAN_CPU header to report a fake fan speed, this is to prevent the error message in your image. If the cable is not connected or loose, this will result in the message appearing. The other cause is that the AIO system has failed, and no fan speed is being reported.
If all the aio fans and pump are flashing red, it's likely the unit has failed, and this is the built in mechanism to alert the user.
It could be as simple as the connection to the USB header is loose, so the aio etc can't be controlled, worse case is the pump has failed and the whole AIO needs to be replaced. Hopefully after some troubleshooting PCS can diagnose the issue and solution
The all the fans were flashing red and then the whole case went dark except for the RAM.
These were the questions and my answers via email so far.
- Touch the pump itself, does it seem to be vibrating?
No - Do the pipes feel as though they are different temperatures or the same?
The same - Can you hear a strange sound coming from the pump?
I can occasionally hear a gurgling sound, like a gentle ripple of water - Are the lights on?
The lights are on but when running the game the lights went off as they all started flashing red.
-not part of the email-
I was in a computer game when the first error occured.
Hey guys - the solution PCspecialist gave doesnt seem to have worked. I'll be calling them again tomorrow, I've had the pump error and the red lights flashing again.
I went into the icue app and the pump fan seems to be at around 2500rpm and the other fans are about 500 and that's with no load whatsoever. I'm assuming that not normal?
Nope, entirely normal
Thanks. I have no clue what it is then.
Have you tried reinstalling iCUE?
There was a bit of gurgling from the pump at one point... does that normally happen?
It can do, sometimes at start and then the pump will move air to the rad. You can always trying putting pc on side to help etc. The corsair forums are a good resource for help too, trying searching for your issue.
Will try that.
Ok ill have a look on those forums. Thanks again. This is so disheartening.
Do you know, if worst case scenario happens and I need a whole new pump does the PC get sent back? Because I've kept the box and all the things it came in together just incase...
