Ideally would like a build that can handle 1440p. Budget can increase by a bit but not by too much
Mainly play RPG's, some indie titles and the odd simulator thrown in
Heya! Looks pretty solid, although for 1500 I reckon we can get you onto AM5! Specced up the below, happy to explain choices, or if you have any Q's, shoot away!

Thank you! Just two questions really.
Would the cooler be good enough to cool the cpu under a high load? I had a gaming laptop a while ago with absolutely terrible thermals and I've got PTSD from dealing with that. Used to get to like 90 degrees pretty regularly
Also secondly, I was thinking maybe instead of the RTX 4070 to instead go for the rx 7800xt. Seems to have better performance and is slightly cheaper?
Yep! Cooler is perfectly capable. The 7500F isn’t a thermally demanding gpu, especially for gaming. Laptop thermals are also ways notoriously trash so I wouldn’t worry toooo much 😂
Just went with the 4070 coz you did. More than up for a switch to the 7800XT!
Do you think it'd be a good idea to go with the 7800xt over the 4070?
I do. More performance, more VRAM, less money
