They are not, completely different diet as well

Caiman lizards are semi aquatic, have flat teeth, and females are more dull. They also eat snails, some other sea foods. That saying, In captivity you can also add whole ground turkey and other meats to their diet. They are also semi arboreal.

Tegus on the other hand are not semi aquatic and are less arboreal as they get older. They have sharp teeth and females have smaller cheeks vs a duller color
