I know it's BEYOND anachronistic and this game is at least sort of trying to stay Ice Age/Stone Age in terms of setting... but I still think that there's potential to be tapped here. Plus, the new update is slated to include ||Sivatherium from the Miocene, and the fish you can catch include Mesozoic ammonites and belemnites, plus Haikuichthys which goes back to the Cambrian||. Dinosaurs aren't a big stretch in comparison, especially if we only put them in one place in a sort of mini Lost World situation.

My thought is that in a large lower area of the jungle yet to be opened up, the local animals to be found include a couple of iconic dinosaurs (Velociraptor, Stegosaurus, Diplodocus, Pachycephalosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Chasmosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, etc) in addition to the Junglefowl - insert joke about dinosaurs being related to chickens here.

You'd be able to tame the smaller ones like other animals: Velociraptor pets, Pachycephalosaurus/Parasaurolophus/Chasmosaurus mounts on your farm.

The big ones, like the mammoths, would be pets as babies only: Stegosaurs, Diplodocus, and T. rex

The farmed dinosaurs could drop things like scales which you can probably make into fertilizer that makes crops grow bigger/revert to their wild form, horns in the case of Chasmo for Quality Hornmeal, and for all of them Dinosaur Eggs to go with ostrich and junglefowl eggs!

Can i add/ask will the dinosaurs if added be like the more newer information we have on fossils from recent years discoveries like about how some aren't reptilian like we thought but more feathered?

Like the Psittacosaurus. And Velociraptor.

You could do different branches on some of these (at least the ones who went either or, or had both).

But I'm super keen if this idea gets accepted.

I’d figure only Velociraptor would have feathers, since it’s the only one that did among the ones I listed as specifics

#

But I’m fully in support of as much scientific accuracy as the game can accomplish for the designs, besides maybe their size to make them easier to ride/fit in the animal sheds

I had to google. XD the first one, uh Psittacosaurus was recently found to be feathered.

And we have chickens. Distantly related to i think the t-rex or maybe others?

exotic hazel

Yes I made that joke at the start

#

Birds just are a family of theropod dinosaur. It’s the truth

🙂 i may have missed it lol.

Annd there's the cassowary. It's a very antisocial bird but also related. And emus <3. Oh gosh i side tracked myself on Australian wildlife.

But i reckon if did branches of animals evolution etc this would be a cool starting point. Or idea.

#

And most people love dinosaurs.

I figured there could be some totem magic involved, maybe

exotic hazel
#

If Psittacosaurus is added, honestly, it could drop feathers as well as eggs too

since the junglefowl already exist which are technically "dinosaurs in the jungle" would the idea of "mammoth in ice block" but for dinosaurs too far of a stretch? like maybe a cave in the jungle you break open and then the warm jungle air melts the ice?

exotic hazel
#

Maybe? I’m not sure how feasible it would be for the game programming, but maybe it could work. I pictured the Dinos just already being there, since the jungle is the mysterious unexplored part of the game world

i just mean that the game already uses our modern understanding of dinosaurs within these tropical environments having evolved into junglefowl so to at least pretend to be more realistic about dinosaurs and humans interacting you'd need some sort of explanation for why this specific group of dinosaurs did not evolve right?

exotic hazel

I guess that makes some sort of sense

Eh i love dinosaurs but i think the era just doesn't match lol. I would like more cenozoic creatures tho? since its kinda that era. Woolly rhinos, smilodon we already got glyptodon but they're not even tameable 😅

I also agree that the era (fictional though it is) doesn't seem to match having dinosaurs...but at the same time, I wouldn't object to there being maybe ONE type of dinosaur, maybe as some kind of secret and/or late game pet. I like the "dinosaur frozen in an ice block" idea, or perhaps they could be found in a secret area ||like the cave spiders or horses|| and recognized by the Pachans as a creature of old-timey legend, like Maeri's great-grandmother used to tell her tales of the strange feathered lizards that once walked the earth in their ancestors' days and gradually disappeared.

I think the idea is general Stone Age/Prehistoric, it wouldn't break my immersion if dinos were added.

I thought the jungle would suit the idea because it is where the ancient Pachan ruins are, and where the ancient civilization used to be. It just seems like the ideal place for something truly ancient like dinosaurs, but yeah maybe a hidden area accessible by the caves would work better

west sandal
#

those ruins aren't pachan
||they are ruins of the diurnal clan before they split into the mograni and yakuans||

exotic hazel

I forgot, sue me

west sandal

no :p

exotic hazel
#

Well maybe there could be a new cave section with a long-forgotten dinosaur totem, which leads to a hidden lost world in the jungle, just like the horse totem?

west sandal
#

maybe if a dinosaur is a bit too far the same could also work for some big lizard

#

like a komodo dragon or something

Okay, so here's a bit of a reconfiguration of the basic part of this idea:

On the ||Mograni Plains||, the player walks up to Koli who's inspecting some strange bones. Suddenly, a rockslide occurs and opens up a new cave entrance. Back in gameplay, the player enters the caves and some distance in finds a new totem, so ancient even the Glyptodon spirits have no idea where it leads. It'd be shaped like a giant Triceratops or Parasaurolophus skull, and it needs one item placed in it: Ginkgo Fruit, which would be found or given to the player at some point.

Once given a ginkgo, the totem opens a cave entrance into a hidden valley in the Jungle like the horse totem does, and it's filled with all or at least some of the dinosaur species proposed at the start of this. From there you can domesticate some and adopt others as pets, with Koli gaining a pet Psittacosaurus or Chasmosaurus

Given there is a history of storytelling that surrounds dinosaur fossils throughout history (hence why we have things like dragons today in stories) and that the game includes the spirits and magic, I don't see why we couldn't have mystical magical dinosaurs at the very least.

And a more sci-fi option if you go the Journey to the Centre of the World route.
