The Cultivate team is absolutely insane; they've been doing amazing work with sci-fi helmets, but I think that some people are going too far.
Helmets themselves have a huge market in so many different sports. I am not sure what people would expect us to do with an American football team. The icon for American football is an American football helmet. It's an NFL helmet, not a sci-fi, a Moto GP, an F1, a snowboard, or a skateboard helmet. Also, comm should not go into full rant mode without understanding how the legal side of this or any drop works. Also, we have not used a clone model in any of the product shots like Cultivate is doing.

With that said, clones are what I like the most. Between the exclusive access, and the perks, and the occasional airdrops. Everything in some form ties into clones whether it’s a wearable or something to elevate the experience as a clone. It’s not just digital assets like other nft projects but as they often say they are “merging worlds together” both irl and metaverse by having both digital and physical products.

There’s a few things packed into it but also maybe updates since I read up.

1. Getting around royalties is bad for projects, creators and artists. Not all projects have millions to work with. Royalties help them continue to build, attracts new creators and artists into the space.

2. there’s a thread that the farming mechanism for bidding is causing a ton of sales and floor drops of NFTs in a collection to farm blur. Higher bids = more blur, unlisted clones sell so floor isn’t changed. Then the new buyer sells to next bid or undercuts the floor. The clone floor dropped 1 ETH since blur as did many blue chips.

#2 is paraphrased not necessarily my opinion. Hard to tell how much it’s effected price but the logic seems sound.

No, but making a contrast between a car and an NFT is pretty silly. Also, it’s a bit odd to gaslight pretending we don’t buy NFTs as investments. I know it’s a bear market, but we all came for the same reason.

As a long time sneaker collector and reseller I only see this as an investment. I’m not a gamer and will spend zero time playing to earn in any metaverse. But when that time comes people will have to buy from someone who already has. When that time comes I will be ready to sell.

Well I don’t think there’s a bullet proof answer here as the solution evolve so do scammers. Even before the test of times from having intaglio/signet rings where you put it in wax and there’s your signature for record keeping -> simple pen and paper -> now we have nfc tech to prove it’s ownership but it’s always a constant evolution as time goes on but this seems to be more transparent than simple record keeping. Necessary, really just depends on who you ask. But I do think this is the path we will see many others take. As we see both RTFKT and Azuki are putting these products into the market and others will follow
