I have nowhere else to post this, but I think putting Fanfiction in here fits in the context of Fanworks.

This is a retelling of Guardian Tales in the eyes of an OC. His presence changes a lot in terms of the story and his meddling in the plot also pushes characters that were sidelined in the game to take on a more crucial role in the fic.

I have many plans for this project, and I hope many people can enjoy this piece of art that I have written :3.

Guardian's Keeper - Chapter 1 - Azel_Arc - Guardian Tales ...

I'm currently in the process of writing Chapter 3, which will be released at Late October or Early November.

I'm also in the process of making a proper outline for World 1 - 5 so that I can have a proper backlog for this fic. I also might go back to previous chapters to edit the mistakes and plot holes that I have missed.

No matter how long this project takes, I will never abandon it, that's a promise. My goal is to at least get to Demon World, because I have many things that i plan to do to that Region.

So I do hope you enjoy reading about Zane's journey inside the reality of Guardian Tales.

So I removed the explanation about the [Sealed Hero] Penalty because it's too long.

#

So here's the explanation to those who are curious :

#

• My Archangel powers works the best outside the reach of individual realities. I'm practically powerless inside any world, but in the void between dimensions? I'm practically invincible.

#

• Transporting Zane and The Book inside one of the alternate realities of Guardian Tales made me use about 25% of my Power.

#

• Compare that to the things I've done outside of the realms. Reviving the soul of the dead cost me like 0.01% of my Power, and creating the Book cost me about 2%. Both of which were done while I was chilling in my void

#

• When the Book was transferred with Zane, the system only retained 5% of its features. If I transported the Book when the system was at its 100% functionality? I would have to use about 55% of my Power just to send the Book together with Zane inside GT.

#

• So to remedy that problem, my solution was to just fully activate the Book when it's already inside the world, that way I won't have to use a lot of my Power.

#

• To do that, first I need some sort of connection to that specific world. This is were the [Sealed Hero] comes into play. The first Hero that Zane will summon will be the basis that I will use for my Book. The bigger that Hero's influence in the story, the more I can use my power more freely inside that reality.

#

• My entire Concept is based on the ability to make "rules". And I can freely use my power on places without rules, like the void that I'm currently living in. That's also my weakness, because if I create a "rule" on a reality with an already established sets of rules, my Powers and that reality will fight with each other. This is what drains my Powers.

Inside a Reality, Established Rules : Weak Azel

Outside Reality, No Rules, Void between Realities: Strong Azel

Which means I can only use my full power when my main body exists in a place where there are no rules.

• Another one of my abilities is the power to descend into the body of an individual in a specific reality. It's quite a complicated process but just know that my Power during that descent will still be the same as my main body, which 100%. During the descent however, my Powers are only directly proportional to the importance of that person to the world and its casualty. The more important the characters is, the more freely I can wield my Power.

Important Characters = 100% Power during descent

Irrelevant/No-name Characters = 0-50% Power during descent

• That's the reason why FP is one of the top candidates for the [Sealed Hero]. She has one of the most crucial roles in the overall story, which means that if I descended in her body, I would be able to use 100% of my abilities inside her reality without any backlash from her world's rules

• The moment her existence was sealed inside the Book, a connection was created between us. I used that link to fully activate the Book. Thanks to FP, Zane's Memoir was able to retain 100% of its intended feature. But my descent has a bunch of negative side-effects to the person.

• The the reason why sealing the Hero is important is because FP's body must be trapped in stasis so that any side-effects as a result of my descent doesn't affect her entire being and soul. Sealing her for a long period of time also makes sure that any side-effects that she did sustain will be healed over time, so that the moment Zane unseals her, she will be safe and sound.

Tldr; [Sealed Hero]'s main purpose was to be a vessel for me to descend into, so that I can fully activate the Book's Power without suffering any consequences as a result of GT's reality fighting against my Power's "rules".

The reason why I needed to seal the hero was to make sure any negative side-effects as a result of my descent doesn't kill/harm the hero's being and soul.

SPOILERS FOR ZANE'S FIRST ABILITY!!!

(Passive) (Defense)

The Princess of Kantenbury — in an alternate timeline from the far future — is plaqued by the memories of the tragedies that befell on her beloved world; unable to save the people that she cared about from the Invaders. This ability is the culmination of her wish. The power to protect even just a single person from harm, using her power as a shield against the malicious forces that dares harm the most important people in her life. All of this was made possible with this barrier that she alone have created from her desire to save her world from destruction.

Choose (3) Characters from the story of Guardian Tales. The beings you chose will be unable to hurt you. Physical acts such as stabs, punches, kicks, projectiles, etc. will not leave any damages to your body. Any mental or psychological spells and attacks that they may cast like body snatching magic will not work on you. All malicious actions that they may inflict will be rendered null if their target is [Zane].

However, they can still hurt — or even worse, kill — the people around you. So use this ability, my dear Keeper, to protect the people important to you from these (3) entities that you deemed dangerous enough. Use this shield that the Princess has given to you to fight against these powerful beings.

*However, you can only choose entities that are considered "enemies" in the context of the story.

Draft is almost finished currently with 5k words. It was supposed to be cut into 2 chapters but I decided against it.

The next chapter will be jam-packed, which includes my very first written action scene (though its short as hell), and some additional info on the Book's system. So look forward to that!

Cards are rewards that the Keeper will earn for every important milestone that he achieves throughout his journey, though these collectibles function quite differently from the ones in the game.

Each card has a special use that will benefit the Keeper in terms of this world's technicality.

Cards will not always appear as such in the eyes of everyone. People might see the card as a badge, I.D, document, or any kind of item that it needs to be for the occasion. It changes form depending on its intended purpose.

Some Cards could also be used by Heroes. To do this, the Keeper must hand the card to the Hero of his choice.

This would be interesting. While it was hilarious in the game. Maybe the Suspicious Knight quest could be resolved by diplomacy this time.

And the cards abilities are interesting, maybe the cards could offer more possibilities like taking a different approach to a problem. Would the MC have to change cards to use their effects or do their effects stacks?

Zane could only activate 2 cards on his person at a time. Though the best part comes from the fact that he can also equip another set of 2 cards to his companions. So for example:

Zane equips [2] Cards: #1 & #2,

He gives Eva a different set of [2] Cards: #3 & #4,

And then he gives the card #5 [Violent Minotaur] to Ria (Knight)

With the setup above, there are 5 unique cards currently active that are distributed among every member of the party. The setup above also creates a combo wherein everytime the party encounters a Minotaur, Zane and Eva could kill the monster while Ria with the [Violent Minotaur] card could stall and distract the bull without worrying about her teammates.

Cards will force Zane to think through every situation carefully. There are times that not equipping cards will be more beneficial to the current situation, and there are times that equipping cards will be more of a disadvantage. All in all, it boils down to Zane being able to think through things strategically

That is interesting. Would there be cards that could introduce camouflage like if they get a card from a viper clan ninja? Or who that be more related to a character’s ability?

Btw if for some unknown reason and I suddenly get deleted from existence (because I can't really die now because I'm an archangel, but I'm pretty sure someone can will me to not exist) and I don't get to finish this fic, do not worry. Imagine every single hero that Zane and Ria met fighting together to defeat the bossess, like Balock. The Exped spin-off that I'm planning is full of character interactions, fight scenes, lore dumps, and everyone working together to Defeat Vero's Cult.

The only thing that I'm still mad about is that I can't write about Exped until I finish season 2, so you angels have to wait a long time for the spin-off.

I thought about incorporating the collabs into the story in the beginning but eventually I decided not to prioritize them. The collabs actually had pretty nice stories. However, the Slayer story happened waaay earlier in the timeline and can't be added in the story without some time travelling shenanigans. The dragon quest Collab is still doable, but I don't have a proper timeline to place it in.

Overall, I won't be writing about the collabs. Though that can change if I find time to make room for it in the story.

The only stories/lore he has no knowledge of is World 18. Zane has no idea how Season 2 ended. But the rest he has a good memory of what will happen in the first place.

The excerpt in Ch.6 established this :

The Nightmare World of Lilith Tower was as good as he expected. He enjoyed playing as Odile and Gremory, their interactions were really nice to watch.

Another thing that was added was Coco’s Ascension. Her kit is perfect for players struggling with starting or progressing in Expedition, one of the hardest game modes of Guardian Tales; It became much easier to complete the first set of districts thanks to Coco. Though even she cant't surpass Ms. Chrom in being the top unit in Expedition.

[I was gone for at least a year and I almost didn't recognize this game holyyyy]

[Before anything else, you guys can call me Raine. I'm very sorry (not) for not updating for checks calendar 11 months.]

[Long story short, Azel Arc (yes, the Archangel) decided to abandon this story for a year to hunt down the GODs of the Overdimensions (or whatever the hell she said she'll do). In an attempt to at least salvage her garbage excuse of an update schedule (ironic for the God of Rules to not follow any schedule), she kidnapped a random human writer with a huge love for GT to continue the story while she's gone.]

[Unfortunately for her, I was in a middle of senior high school, and I was busy with my capstone project. She didn't know that. I haven't touched her ao3 account in at least a year. I hope she doesn't kill me when she returns.]

[I play Guardian Tales, but stopped to focus on my studies. Now that I have graduated, I have time to play the game (World 19-20, potentially 21) and writing this fic before going to college after the summer.]

[I'm reviewing Azel's notes on this story, and I'm going into detail the problems going forward of me writing this story for her. There will be a huge change in the writing, but I promise to attempt to have a better update schedule and writing quality for Guardian's Keeper.]
