Hello everyone.
I am here to tell my story, I worked for 13 years in the aviation industry (Check-in Agent, Lost&Found, Administration, Trainer, Team Leader and the last 7 years as a Supervisor).
March 2020, as you all know, the aviation industry was semi ruined by COVID.
In Argentina, we were 9 months in lockdown (the longest in the world), so although I still had my monthly salary, I was not doing anything, so I started studying with **Scrimba **and some extra resources.
At this point I learned everything from React (Scrimba) up to Golang, Python + Flask, etc.
Finally I got to know .NET Technologies, mainly C#, ASP.NET, web API, O.R.M, SQL, Razor, Blazor, etc which was what I fell in love with .
One of the things that worked very well for me were books and eBooks, videos were never something I liked, the only ones I watched were the ones that didn't last more than 5 minutes and explained specific things quickly (What is Dependency Injection, How to use Generics, etc).
I spent about a year and a half, with an average of 4 hours every day at night studying.
Finally, in October 2021, I took early retirement from the airline, and moved to Europe.
As you can imagine, I started from scratch again, within two days of arriving I got a job as a Senior IT Specialist Tier II, as the months went by I started updating my CV and Linkedin while learning any new topic.
**Finally last Wednesday, I received a job offer as a .NET/C#/ASP.NET Developer. **
The interview process consisted of 4 phases, First Screening, Technical, Behaviour, HR.
In one of the interviews, I was told, "Nowadays it is more important Soft Skills, than Technical, because if you can learn by yourself, technical is just a matter of time, but Soft Skills only come with experience".
Don't stop trying, there were days and times when I wanted to stop doing all that, but I always came back to try again.
!important.. I am 39 ( almost 40 ) years old.
So if I could do it, anyone can.
