#Linux support
1 messages ยท Page 2 of 1
I remeber a place to drop log files for a bot check but can't find it anymore??
TY sir will do now!
now to get more pissed off and try to fix my bot so it's happy
fun stuff. Analysis says.....Voicechat is the issue!

at the current moment, im trying to fix my broken bot
you need a bot to fix the bot...
like me...lmao
I will send my issue to DCS and see what they come back with? Flying is my support animal and I miss her!
Good luck, they will probably go "we won't fix this cause your on an unsupported OS" like they did with me
Got it up using that file work around then found a check box for VoiceChat under Sound settings...Flying again so far ๐
Wonder if there's any good coming of "here's how I fixed it, can you make that pass IC".
sadly they will deny it cause "it's working on windows. It's your fault for running another OS"
I know weโve had this discussion before, but I still maintain that is an entirely reasonable position on their part.
I haven't had this discussion, and I'm inclined to disagree!
...but I don't want to have this discussion.
Hah ๐ I can understand why youโd disagree, but it really is a single platform application. Itโs written for Windows and if you can reproduce a bug on native Windows, theyโll log it and maybe even fix it. Anything else is an irrelevance and an expense that software companies just donโt need. The key bit being an expense/time taken away from core product for their core customer base on the supported OS.
โHey, you want to run on an unsupported platform - be our guest, but the clueโs in the word unsupported. โ
I would love for everything to run nicely on Linux, but the reality is that is never going to be the case. For those of us who really want to have our cake and eat it, we either have to put up with some things not working, or boot to a separate drive/machine to play the games we want to play.
/SSD2T/DCS-2.6/drive_c/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/CoreMods/services/VoiceChat/bin/VoiceChat.dll
wanna figure out the Apache issue if you got it? xD
could someone check the md5 checksum for me? on the file above
09b98c6826e8e9f8d44ab3bf1072e0ce
would love to have apache ๐
I own, never flown
CTD
No proberly formated MD5
and i used md5sum -c
wait no
09b98c6826e8e9f8d44ab3bf1072e0ce
I just clicked button in Dolphine file manager
i gotta use a command line
i haven't checked all my games, just went from x11 to wayland
i might do a fresh install of my OS though :v
Would take me an hr to figure out how to do it on cl. lol
I use Kumbuntu...Love it !
ich, pure arch for me
I'm also gonna start recoding my discord bot... hopefully can improve it
I'm thinking Apache is a video driver issue. I am running the newest available?
BUT i need to finish my company one :v
No idea
im updating DCS just to check it again
jesu fuck 32gb update?
total 80gb change
thank for the file check...Why can't DCS find the darn thing?
could be wine things, not entirely sure
strange 1 file out of how many DCS loads?
OH and i fixed my bot to a point that it's being tested by my clients
no idea really
excelent!
still breaks on spawn objects :v
hurray
Your DCS has crashed
The crash occurred inside CockpitBase.dll.
Try a !repair.
Delete Saved Games\DCS\fxo and metashaders2 and try again.
Next, delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\DCS and try again.
Next, try renaming Saved Games\DCS to DCS.old and try again.

The Apache??
yup
looked familiar.lol
The suggestion don't do shit...I'm down to graphics driver that have no updates??
Nvidia 1070 liquid cooled card
i em way to well in that boat
im on alberta works :v
if i was on AISH, i would be happy as a kid in candy.
Was an equipment mechanic for 40 years, all busted up now.Lumbar spine is almost all fused now. Don't know if it made it better or not. Lots of pain..No pain meds either!
So I fly in my chair and dream of doing greasy things. lol
I'm almost in the same boat with the spine, i had a rupchurd lower disk while i was about 16 years old
turning 34 this year
62

i been trying to get into my close mechanic shop as volenteer work. but they not busy enough
Very impressive! Index?
HTV Vive thr first Gen headset.
Nice. I used to run dcs and BMS under Linux with headtracking but VR was the tipping point back to windows for me. And, to be honest, it was liberating - I actually get to fly now rather than tinkering to get each update working.
Lol
Yeh I'm trying to save up for an index headset and probably controllers. I don't like these ones.
I just donโt touch controllers ever.
Might try Pimax under Linux. DisplayPort has to be easier than usb connection.
Lol. Mines got a display port. But the program I'm using is monado
Is there a performance penalty for Win vs Linux in VR? With 60fps monitor, I think it should be unnoticeable?
I can't tell. I haven't used windows in a few years
But depending on the headset really. As mine is old so i gotta use lower quality. I can't ready for shit on my current headset
In pancake, I had a performance drop going back to windows. At least with BMS where I used vxdk. Canโt remember much difference with dcs.
Does anyone have tips for A) getting Opentrack to work (tracks perfectly, just won't show up in DCS) and/or B) calibrating a Thrustmaster Cougar in Nobara 41. DCS is finally recognizing all 28 buttons but the throttle is reading too high at lowest setting.
Is your OpenTrack the windows version, installed in your DCS wine prefix?
(If it is, I'd advise against it - Linux opentrack has Wine integration, at least the version I got off AUR.)
Could never get DCS to see the Linux version?
Depends on how you have Opentrack installed
I built the OpenTrack on my system but DCS couldn't see it? That's why I install windows version in the wine prefix
ick no
no no no no
never that.
You just need to change opentrack to a few things, can you do voice?
no mic
that's fine
I'll probably be the one talking anways
#713103906439168030 would be fine?
is this the issue?
ccmake . (go down with 'PG DOWN' until you see SDK_WINE - then press 'ENTER' (set to 'ON'; press 'c' to reconfigure)
make
Didn't do that
may i see what your doing? i don't mind you not having a mic
that's to enable WINE function, that is needed
Then I will redo with that enabled...
After that is done, let me know your settings for the DCS detection
Not igonroing you on purpose Skipper...Having compile isssues this time around.
Also DCS wouldn't update due to needing at least windows 8.1??? Installed the newest Dot package and that is fixed
Run winetricks and choose that folder to change its settings. It shouldn't be on 8.1
now I understand when ppl say that the TPOD lines are "bugged"
the coordinates in the TPOD doesnt render at all, just green boxes
the bug only shows up with ATFLIR, LITENING shows it correctly
ATFLIR vs LITENING
do DDIs with external displays work in linux?
No idea on that one. I finally got a job and I can buy a screen to text it out
please keep me posted because I am interested ๐ ! currenly next upgrade will be a new panel and pedals but a display and DDI would be nice
Ddi is the mfd screens right?
The bottom screen meaning the radar thing like the f18?
the bottom one is the one that defaults to HSI/SA
Yeh. Mfd screen. I'll test it out
"the one that is annoying to check because you have to turn your eyes down"

and lose sight of the plane you are trying to fly in formation on ๐
I am yet to crash in formation flying though
So, I've gotten the Apache running on Linux by copying over some of my Windows fonts, but...wow. It's entirely illegible.
Is there a recommended replacement for seguisym.ttf?
No idea on that one. I just got a script to edit files for me.
How did you get the apache to work?
Installed DCS as per https://github.com/budderpard/DCS_Standalone_on_linux/blob/master/README.md, copied the font listed there into my Wine prefix.
Mind, it doesn't crash, but I wouldn't quite call it playable.
scroll up and check my ATFLIR issue, it looks the same with the text
I didnt manage to solve it though
The box text is "normal" for us
I noticed it during an E-CAS mission where we were supposed to call our target grid
Across modules, or Patchy-specific?
Uhhh.... the apache is the block text, ka50 screen doesn't show, a10 the targeting pod line (rare) and something about the mi8
But it requires image files being remade and dcs fucking hates it
I see. Well, that's maybe the Hog and mostly the Patchy that's going to be a problem, then.
I'll have to examine the font and see if I can drop in a suitable replacement that doesn't have that shit.
(Otherwise the Patchy is a write-off, and that would make me angry.)
I got a link that fixes the ka50, mi8 and the apache. But it edits files and you can't play verify file check servers (strict servers)
I distantly recalled something like that, which is why I'll try the font fiddling first.
Anyway, it's a concern for later. Real life calls.
have any of you tried the kiowa in linux?
No but I'm wanting to grab it in the future to test it out.
same, I am thinking of it as a possibly first helo for me once I get my rudder pedals thus the question ๐
what other helos have you tried and what does work (or not) on linux?
might be a nice idea to have a pinned post with what works and not in linux (and potential issues)
Hi! has anyone faced this problem when trying to install a new module on DCS? I'm using raw wine 10.3. any help is appreciated.
whenever i click install this popup appears.
Hi there! Please check the pinned and use the options.lua as that launcher doesn't work well for us just yet.
for me it doesnt even render, I just get a black window
alright! thanks for the info, will try.
It's a hit or miss
hey I still get the same popup even when trying to install from within the game, I have set up the options.lua from deletriums github.
any ideas?
OK first off.
Lutris?
Wine?
Winetricks (stuff enabled)
im running through lutris 0.5.19, with wine raw 10.3 (64 bit) as mentioned earlier. I have all the dlls installed in winetricks that were mentioned in the github page (except vcrun2019), and many more that came preinstalled (i think) on my winetricks prefix (vcrun2017, xmllite, gmdls, dxdiag, dxdiagn_feb2010, dmband, dmime, dmstyle, dmsynth, dmusic). I also have corefonts installed into winetricks.
Install dxvk
I've just tried and it didn't work... Also tried rebooting just in case the error was coming from an open process on my computer, and it still does not work.
sorry for the wait between updates, I had to figure out some other stuff๐
@runic ravine I Might switch to arch soon, getting annoyed with manjaro ๐
Manjaro has major issues anyways.
No worries. I'm at a job site anyways
yeah, I just have been so damn stressed out (because work) that I haven't had the energy or drive to switch even though it was always my plan
I should also switch to pipewire but will switch when I install arch
Straight arch is nice. But you need to do the gui install. It will help a lot
And grab Wayland. Not x11 so plasma Wayland and it runs smooth as shit
arch seems to be easy to install nowadays though (I compare to pre-systemd days) ๐
I will go for both tbh
so I can switch if needed
I have issues with wayland with how it handles windows (they keep moving like batshit in gnome)
Sooo x11 is becoming obsolete
like when my tv decides to go into power save mode windows keep moving from displays back and forth
I also get that too
Heh. I love being at the job site and I'm STILL connected to my own wifi
need to do some stretching, been doing a/a and crazy stiff in shoulders/neck after all turning and such ๐
Lol. I'm saving up money for an index headset and probably controllers.
hehe, I burnt my tax returns on more gear ๐
rudder pedals, dampener and a control panel, all from virpil
LOL I would have done the same but bills came into play
Watching the Adam project while I wait for my boss to get back
Fucking 31c
I don't have any pedals now (I use twist on my stick) so will probably be a nice immersiveness boost (and possibility to fly helo) ๐
ordered the falcon r1 ones
@runic ravine this site seems to work nicely for playing tacviews https://dcs-web-editor.github.io/dcs-web-viewer-deploy/
So, Opentrack's hotkeys worked just fine on Windows, but is anyone else having trouble getting any of them to trigger on Linux?
yay opentrack-git
follow these instructions based on your distro, if you're on arch, use the instructions in the manjaro section
Is there a specific problem that makes installing opentrack (vs opentrack-git) using an AUR helper infeasible? I've grown rather fond of automatic updates.
The regular opentrack AUR package just downloads and extracts an AppImage. This breaks with AUR helpers like yay because it's not a proper build process, while opentrack-git compiles from source. overall it's more stable and all features should work out of the box, so less problems trying to fix them.
It's not worth the time using the yay version. just building it manually from GitHub is more stable and works without any extra hassle. The yay version usually breaks or requires fixes.
Unless I'm mistaken, having to update manually is rather a little bit of extra hassle.
I'll see if it works with Proton. If not, I'll stick with AUR.
AUR isn't fully updated all the time and tends to break, I highly recommend you do it yourself. Heck you can even run a script to do it automatically.
Probably should.
I am aware of AUR's failings, but I generally haven't had too many problems with it.
once you do it once, the initial setup, you can just have a script that pulls, then run the commands with it
opentrack stopped building for me (but opentrack-git works)
manjaro also using yay
Aye, that's been my experience.
oh god my brain is mush, been flight lead for a 4-ship ๐

#screenshot-spamalot-v2 message <-- these ones died today
they were walking around the LA during recovery ๐
Does nothing better. Reverting to AUR version.
Has anyone had experience getting the Virpil device configurator working? System Wine doesn't let me select any of my plugged-in devices.
"I have heard about it" but my personal experience is no
tried running it within the same wine prefix as DCS too but I gave up and borrow my little brothers laptop (he lives close by) ๐
you might possibly have an easier time with USB passthrough and virtual box
I ordered the new virpil pedals btw so will linux test them ๐
And look at the virpal section
Honestly. That page is great for debugging and such
Note on that, seems the prefix settings have a "disable hidraw" option active by default and buried deep in there.
Though even with hidraw on I can't seem to list the device...
Guess it is virtualbox and passthrough.
Just configure it once on windows. You donโt need to run that too often.
Not the very best suggestion for someone who has no Windows devices whatsoever and has already got it working on a VM.
Windows laptop thar collects dust is nice to have.
On a related topic, macOS (I've installed 26 developer beta) has Linux image/container now!
Yay.....
any of you tried the tomcat on linux?
I'll probably be buying it soon โข๏ธ
What do you need, just confirmation that it works? I can fire it up real quick.
please do
Sure, once I figure out how to command update.
(Because it's too late and I CBA to get the updater running normally.)
but locked out of my web-account because ED is messed up
Cold start works fine.
so any tips on how to reinstall DCS?
repair seems to have messed up my installation and getting crashes all the time that brings down the entire DE
so if any of you get the new SRS working let me know
it seems that you need to install some .net possibly and run it in a newer version of proton (but still getting "permission/privacy" warning about using audio output/input) and currently a bit too stressed out to work it out myself but those are the leads I have
if any of you try the latest bms and such in linux let me know, I am interested ๐
Skippy The Canadian Kangaroo, are you here bud? I have had to re-install DCS as my installation crapped out on me.
Several folks reporting it working via bottles and proton
nice
noice
this got resolved in DM's
so the north arrow does not work on the vipers tpod
Can anyone help me get DCS to launch with Lutris in linux? By default the execution is set to DCS_updater.exe, and when I switch to DCS.exe I get a 1280 code and can't seem to fix it. Not sure what I need.
technically your supposed to use the updater.exe anyways
I have tried different wine prefix versions, and have not once launched the game or launcher.
I have all my vulkan and nvidia drivers up to date.
Have you used my video on it?
not sure. was trying to follow one but was hard to see what you were typing.
okay I'll give it watch in the morning.
The updated LUG is very SC specific. I am having issues with the DXVK since it is looking for the SC files.
It might have asked you to see if it was SC or not
They removed some of the options, no more Lutris options
that what I get when selecting update DXVK
Ah, crap.
Do you think an older version would work?
Reading the update releases, looks like v4.0 was when lutris support was removed.
Lutris support was removed cause it was complete trash
Moved to pure wine for it. I could ask if they wanna do DCS as well
Fair, I would imagine it would be easy to port over with some tweaks.
kinda? it needs some adjustments for it
that's what I meant, they have the foundation built.
So, I've just fired up the Phantom on Linux for the first time, and...
Is the Jester menu plain not opening a known problem?
Tried different key bind?
I have not. Hm...
I have no idea why that would work, which years of intuition tell me is exactly why it will work.
Nope, but it's also been strangely much choppier now.
Working on a script to have DCS running on pure wine without needing Lutris. Cause it's buggy to shit
if you manage to get it working on a newer version of proton-ge you would be a hero ๐
as long as you get it working in combination with opentrack
Aight, Jester's working again on Linux for no discernible r-
-yeah, that explains some things.
Ah, no, nevermind, it's working on the Cat, not the Phantom.
I think I've tired of DCS for this week already.
what happens when it doesnt work?
Nothing. I press the Jester key, and no menu opens.
oki, I got the tomcat too and haven't started using it thus the question
glad it works on tomcat "at least"
Suppose so, but I was feeling like a little fast...
I'll try!9
So. Once I have a script going. Who wants to be a guinea pig
Fuck it, might as well.
Well, it's just gonna install the initial thing, not the entire extra stuff.
but it won't be for a few days i think
I'm happy just getting DCS working properly. SRS etc can wait for now.
I mean, I pretty much only use DCS, SRS, and maybe OvGME for some mods.
Those should be easy, I agree.
Hell, it's enough to just get DCS running. The rest might take care of itself-ish.
If SRS is a static URL, i can have it download it and install it, but since DCS is not a static URL people need to manually download it
Oh, oh, I know that look.
That's the "perfect is the enemy of good" look.
I mean, I fully believe in your skill to make a one-click-fixes-everything custom Linux installer for DCS, but with respect, you set out to just get something running that's not as scuffed as Lutris.
I'm gonna try and get it running with wine, Proton will be way to hard to get working
I wouldn't know about that. I confess, I mostly do Proton through Steam or Lutris because I'm a lazy bastard.
https://github.com/starcitizen-lug/knowledge-base/wiki/Tips-and-Tricks#proton i don't think it's got proton DCS
gonna try for the latest SRS? I couldn't get it working and kinda gave up
Hopefully yes. Once I actually get the pop ups and crap to properly show the status of what it's doing. Yeh afterwords.
@blissful ether did you get BMS up and running?
Boo
I have it, but I'm told it installs better with Steam?
Pop ups are getting annoying. Command line questions for the wine!
Steam has its own version. It also allows you to vr as well with no extra stuff. BUT you loose the ability for trials.
@runic ravine you got openkneeboard running btw?
Uhhh. Haven't tried that
So... update on the script.
Got it to download and detect files in a temp folder. Aka where you download the .sh file I'll be writing down instructions to place it in its own folder so it doesn't get confused.
I'll probably be uploading the script files tonight. They are not in working condition. Any tips would be appreciated ๐
WHELP, i just cash that i technically don't have
Whelp? A young dog? ๐คฃ
Nah, it's what i normally say for something i shouldn't have
im wondering if it's the same as the Mod version of the AC130
Silly question for the folks... Once i get the script to the point of actually working to install DCS on pure wine... Would you guys be bothered if i had a donation thing on it to keep it updated and to feed me? xD
I can't in good conscience donate to you, you'd only buy more DCS modules--
Most likely...
But if people were to add a note saying "use this for x" then that will be done.
I was joking.
If I'm not too broke by then, I'll buy you several coffees.
If I am, it was because I bought more DCS modules.
Lol, fair enough.
Currently trying to get wine to install the game in a person's chosen directory.
All right, my Index is set up the way I like it, and...
...uh, say, has anyone got its audio working on Linux? I see the device in aplay -l, but aplay refuses to play back sounds to test it.
...nevermind, it just selected the wrong audio port.
sigh
I love computers.
https://github.com/SkippTekk/DCS-wine-installer if anyone wanted to check it.
finally i got the freaking installer to show!
Oh shit... the options.lua patch is needed
I think it's a bugger.
Pretty much. I gotta test things when I get home again.
I have the line to not use a debugger. But it is. Could be mango triggering it.
whelp, wine 9 and 10 have issues.... gotta stay on GE 8-26
Whelp 0230 in the morning... ill be updating the patches and coding sometime tomorrow.
Gotta learn on how to edit the dcs-launch.sh script to know where the game is... trying to make simple as possible for the users.
GE 8-26 has issues with the latest SRS, at least on my machine
I'll see about getting it installed and such and see if it works. I will need testing. You dont have to fully install everything. Just the basics if you have 180gb spare or so
WHELP time to see if i can get Umu to work :v this is gonna get very annoying and probably delay it
Holy crap... i MIGHT have gotten umu to work...
FREAKING LOL, i just lkooked at my second monitor and i saw the image above... and it was right before my installer... holy crap
So, i can get it to install itself, Update itself, BUT not open the game...
what ya working on Skipper
Launcher blackscreen or something else?
Nothing. Jist straight up doesn't boot anything.
Trying to get a pure wine dcs to work without using third party clients like lutris
Well. First variant of the code, dcs was bitching about debugger enabled even though I told wine not too. But I tried ge 28_6 and it worked. So wine 9 and 10 is borked atm so I tried umu. Nope
I just tried to start my DCS from wine command line. It opened updater which I declined but crashed opening DCS.exe??
I assume your kind of trying this?
The crash isn't a crash. It's a debugger pop up.
This pop up
Wine debugger popup..That is strange it won't run that way. What is Lutris adding??
No idea.
So I guess your trying to automate the whole thing. Creqate prefix, install DCS and run?? If I can help, let me know..I have plenty of SSD
Kinda. Trying to have it to help users do it. Currently have old code but I need to update it. Gimme a second and ill crawl out of bed and show my progress.
I need to figure out on how to basically edit lines in another folder so it will be easier for other users, feel free to add to the code if you wish, i'll look at it when i get back from work
Yes i know I haven't properly commented everything. I'll get to that later.
Hi Skipper, been playing with your code. Turned the menu into a function for better clarity.
Check your github for the changes. Hope I didn't mess stuff up.
Nooo you didn't. But you created a fork ๐ But that's alright, i can apply it over.
My next step was to put in Comments in the pages and stuffs xD Thanks for that and beating me to it ๐ I'll give this a test run, And Nice sanity check for the installer.
But i gotta figure out on how to make the installer edit the launch script too when the user makes changes while doing the installer.
sadly, Wine 9 and 10 give DCS a debug and i can't get that to turn off. This is gonna be an interesting patch to do for it :v
WHOA i just noticed GE proton 10-10... I'll give that one a shot!
FREAKING YES Proton 10-10 works!
Now to get it installed... (basic) and test SRS and voice...
heh, jokes on me... it's not cause where im grabbing it from... doesn't really have it. BUT I CAN USE IT IN MY GITHUB
any of you tried the kiowa or chinook in Linux?
ok... i think i got umu to work. also @runic ravine got flagged for Child safety :v fucking false AI bullshit from the UK laws most likely
Hope that'll get unflagged soon, had some of my 'bong friends suffer the same.
same here. cause it's got all my passwords and stuffs on it LOL
Bleb
So ill be trying to get the .config to work and have it saved where the game is.
Updated and HOPEFULLY it works with the configuration now. https://github.com/SkippTekk/DCS-wine-installer
I also need to change the Name :v
in the version that just got released
if you try it let me know
and what proton-ge version did you end up running? did you get opentrack to work with newer ones?
It's Umu that im using for this.
opentrack does work, you just need to adjust a few things and i can easily write a method for that.
Alright, got it to install SRS and add in Dotnet 8. Now to see if it actually works
Alright, and the update is on it.
Whelp, it doesn't like to hear my HyperX headphones... gonna have to do some major tweaking with it
@ember dagger have you see the new updates i have on the script?
Also, can you see if it breaks on your system or not? Just curious is all ๐
sure I can do that..Do I have to suffer the whole download? lol
Not really? You can just download the smallest map and give it a test. i THINK i have instructions on it clearly
I need umu...guess I'll work on that.
Heh. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. In pacman it's sudo pacman -S umu-launcher I totally forgot to do a check for that first.
Bleh. Sorry forgot to poke you on reply
whats umu-launcher and why?
@dark thicket game is currenty downloading :). PM me
Umu launcher is basically the proton fix's that is used now.
They went from Proton to Umu, it's basically the same thing, but with patches from the community.
ah oki, and that means you can run a newer proton than the one in lutris that I run?
Correct.
It auto updates itself to the newest one, So Opentrack (which works) needs to be adjusted every time
not a big thing if it works with the newest, when I tried switching opentrack to a newer version (that I also switched in lutris) it didnt work
if I can keep both umu-launcher with latest and lutris working at the same time (minus having to switch proton-version in opentrack) then I will give it a shot too
Lutris has to many issues and such. Which is why i em basically creating this script to have it run under it's own thing.
but main thing, I will be able to use a newer proton version with it and have opentrack working? (which means I can use the latest SRS too probably)?
if so I think you have me convinced to give it a shot ๐
SRS was able to be installed and yes it works.
for some reason it's not listening to my mic on my hyperx headphones.
cause I am on an older version of SRS currently because the latest version didn't work
yeah I think it is broken, try the newest beta
Nah it's wine itself that doesn't listen to my mic, i don't recall on how i had it fixed
ah oki
But with my srs testing, i was able to use the radios on the Thunderbird
but sanity check, #1261038965612613634 message will work?
open track works
my brain is mush after doing case 1 practise so need clear words ๐
oki, good so it will work I mean (just have to have the right setting) ๐
cause I tried doing that with opentrack now and lutris and headtracking did not wor?
Basically, and when umu updates, you just gotta change the version and it works
Cause it's gotta be the same runner. otherwise it won't
hmm, how did you get it to pick up the GE-Proton in opentrack like that?
cause I tried switching the launcher in lutris to proton (without GE), and setting it there and they just didnt work together
rebuilding opentrack-git
ick, i run it myself
I use the AUR package
but glad to hear about umu-launcher and such at least
with pacman it's easy to install
oh now I remember the issue, you had to select a steam id with proton ๐
sudo pacman -S umu-launcher i think
Yeh that isn't needed anymore, Opentrack implemented umu inside of itself
select Proton and select umu and boom
you can even create a profil if your playing othergames with opentrack
only playing dcs
and how do I launch the game through umu? just get the launch stuff you have?
in your gitrepo I mean
once it's all properly done, it auto reads where the game is.
just launch dcs-launch.sh and it should work
oh and thanks for explaining umu, I thought it was some "anime related stuff"
"ehh close enough" ๐
INFO: Extracting GE-Proton10-15.tar.gz...

That's normal. Sometimes it likes to bugger and break
it should be updating properly. Either that or i didn't upload the latest changes :v
also had issue with the dir because my dcs install is old (OpenBeta)
fiddled around a bit and DCS starts
huh... yea new DCS does use the old stuff.
hm, if I have opentrack running it doesnt start the updater before I press stop in opentrack
what are you using to launch the game
Ah ok, i thought they changed it to a new folder. Guess they didn't.
they dropped "OpenBeta" from the folder name
it also doesnt detect the headtracking if I press Start in opentrack later on
Probably cause you are using AUR
so build my own manual opentrack?
I can do that, will give it a shot tomorrow then
but about the complaints about GAMEID and such, probably because I didnt install through umu?
Uhhhh Game id is for Steam games. This is straight up Umu. So it doesn't need an ID
i could do a sanity check for the folder...
ended up building opentrack now anyway, not sleepy yet even though 1am ๐
lol, sleeps
I might got it working, but it still stalls on the start of DCS update unless I press stop in opentrack (I then just press start instantly when I see it start launching)
doesnt seem to be transmitting on SRS hmmm now bed
Does SRS actually show? Or just the transmission isn't going through
SRS shows, I could bind my keys but it just didnt "talk"
Time to write a Linux srs client people
SRSly?
as in it didn't trigger when the keys bound on the throttle were pressed (worked with the old GE version)
What version is it? As there is a bug that it grabbed the unstable version

Installation and Update Instructions
Do...
Awesome, i'll see if it actually updates to it correctly.
woot and it does with the script
Has anyone else given it a try? Hopefully it works well for others.
So, apparently with the people in the SRS, i will have to use 2.1.1.0... So i gotta have it download and be able to install it properly using that version.
Not at the moment, i have how ever have SC working with the mic, BUT it's on it's own wine...
They are not using Umu...
Heh... i was able to get VR in my game working xD
So I finally fixed my input hardware, and I find a software bug.
Looks like what's been screwing me wasn't a rotten config or outdated firmware, but Linux's supposed 80-button limit in the kernel.
Let's gooooooo-
...no, I'm increasingly tempted to just dig up the other two USB cables and Frankenwire this thing.
Turns out a third option exists, and a little registry-editing in Wine (allegedly, not testing this tonight) auto-splits hardware over the button limit.
Ah so it's really similar to the windows default limit per device?
Like the virtual device method
Just keep one device's total inputs under 64 to be safe. Aha.
sobs in virpil
Yes, except less convenient to bypass.
Or...not, it seems. I got around to testing that neat little Wine trick and it doesn't seem to like me much.
I really don't want to do a kernel edit...
Okay, so I did it. I guess I'm a real Linux user now.
If you don't see me again, it means the new kernel didn't deliver and I've given up on flying for now.
Kernel patch applied successfully.
I can now use a lot more buttons than 80.
If anyone wants the patch diff, it's for the Linux 6.17 kernel.
Okay, after very briefly screwing up my $PATH so badly I wasn't able to log in except by terminal and utterly unable to execute any commands (other than, fortunately, resetting my $PATH)...
My HOTAS is working just fine, except in Wine.
For some reason, checking the Wine control panel returns some of my buttons as rolling over - i.e. wrapping from the listed maximum (4E = 78) back to 00, and conflicting with the buttons assigned to those.
It's absolutely fine under the native Linux joystick tester, though...
...ho hum, and it seems to register as XInput by default. The hell.
Solved, too. It was SDL being on and HIDRAW off. Somehow, UMU didn't have that option, but WINE standard did.
Aaaaaaaaaand with the next Wine update that went kapow. Now it'll again refuse to recognise anything over 80 buttons.
brb
Whelp, trying to get pure wine to work instead of Umu... it's crashing :v
I can hear others in SRS, but it's not working for me...
Testing head tracking with opentrack
Well, my winwing Button thingy works and is being detected by the game
can't test opentrack as it's breaking for me... yay
whelp, got opentrack installed, but the game isn't detecting it... yay
I'm having the same problem. Has anyone gotten Opentrack working? I'm running Nobara 42 KDE Plasma.
I haven't, but someone has with IRtrack or what ever it was.
If you're referring to TrackIR5 I'd love to know how they managed that. I tried everything including Winboat to get that running with no success. It would start but the IR receiver wouldn't turn on.
I haven't done the latest DCS upgrade (scared) but I do use Opentrack with Delanclip and DCS on Kubuntu 25.04 via Lutris. I have to use different wine versions though, they won't both run at same time otherwise. Opentrack is using the normal Ge wine version and i am using a custom wine-10 to run the DCS but works fine??
I think I just ran the Opentrack install.exe in the DCS prefix.
Then did the rest in settings as far as the wine being used.
sadly for the wine for linux it needs to be the same as the game prefix. otherwise it won't work. But also having issues myself but im too distracted with creating my own game and playing WT to really mess with it
Oh yeah, SRS is showing up in the DCS interface..I haven't tested if you can hear and talk though.
I just did a manual install of it as per instructions in the prefix with DCS
I can hear, i can't talk. Maybe this distro will fix that
BUT i gotta install DCS again :v
woot i got TrackIR to work in DCS

sorry for the late reply, it's in my link above
I followed the steps for Fedora and got Opentrack installed but the only output options are UPD overnetwork and Flight Gear. There were a couple error notices during the compile so I'm not sure what exactly went wrong.
Errors are normal. During the cmake steps. You had to enable the wine sdk
I included the step SDK_WINE=ON. before compiling. Do I need the "cmake -B build -DSDK_WINE=ON" command as well or instead of?
Might have too if wine isn't showing, do you have wine winetricks installed?
Yes, winetricks is installed. I'll try a fresh build with the added cmake step.
hello i got linuxtrack installed for my track ir but the proton bridge kept failing to install
cant detect the proton version i tried asking chat gpt but couldnt manage to troubleshoot it
might just continue to use vr on my quest 3 in wivrn until i figure it out
OK, I got Opentrack installed and running with the Wine output option. Will this work with a non-wine DCS installation? I tried to run the DCS-wine-installer but it kept telling me I had to run Directory and Files after I'd already done so.
Wine-dcs installer. That one mine?
C-130J pilots of Linux,
Raytracing is enabled by default. disable it
Settings > Special > C-130J > disable raytracing
Yes. It keeps popping up with an error telling me to run Directory and Files. The config.cfg file contains the directory I specified and the Files folder contains the DCS_World_web.exe, options.lua and a Wine-10.19-staging-amd64.tar.xz. Sorry, I quoted the wrong post. I should add I have DCS up and running through Lutris using Raw Wine 9.20.
That is odd, cause once you set the location (the file where you want DCS to be installed int) it should be saving...
I'm hoping there's a way to set up Opentrack to work with the DCS I already have running via Lutris/Raw Wine 9.20.
It should....
any of you tried the C-130 in linux yet? any issues except raytracing?
I am getting a "file has been modified" error when running the installer. It seems to work fine with wine-8.26....(lutris one). but my install program I've been working on get that error with wine 10??I download a fresh installer each time, been doing it going on 2 weeks??Any thoughts..My game is fine so still flying ๐
I recently updated to Kubuntu newest flavor and it did change my system wine to wine 10..Wasn't happy about that!
Ive tryed it command line also with same issue..
WINEPREFIX=/path/to/prefix folder path/to/wineIwant/wine path/to/web installer.exe
work fine with anything but 10?? I compiled a custom wine-10 I was using for the script, did it months ago and it worked fine until that upgrade? that upgrade could not have effected the custom wine-10, but it doesn't work either??Not that important was just trying to finish my script when this showed up...lol
My script doesnt use system wine. It uses the staging. That's probably what you need
I use many versions anything past 9 is doing it??
that Kubuntu update triggered whatever it is. Been working on the script for months.
before the update system wine was 9..Now it's 10
Had SRS, Opentrack, TrackIR all done. Was just starting on the Tac view portion. Now this shit
The install program also does it from the command line so the script isn't the issue. Fuck it. Lets do Falcon BMS on wine. I do enjoy that sim also. More realistic in many ways
ANyone want 1500 lines of nice python script? Free
Have you already got BMS up and running under wine? Iโve not tried with 4.38, but Max (one of the dev team) has published a helper script to get it up and running. https://github.com/BenchmarkSims/bms-helper
Been playing it from 4.26 or something like that. I'm just bored, looking for something to do is all.
To anyone with TrackIR 5 hardware, I just got mine working in DCS World with the following app: https://github.com/fwfa123/linuxtrackx-ir/releases. It took a bit of finagling but if you set the custom Wine path to your DCS World Wine prefix location it should work. I still have to tweak the parameters a bit, but it did work, a lot more easily than Opentrack.
As long as you got it working! that's awesome
Actually, has anyone else been getting "failed to connect to window manager" errors with SteamVR recently? Been having that for about a month plus now.
was gonna say i have it right now, but im too lazy to fix it xD
annnnd i just realised i wasn't getting any messages from here cause i didn't change the notification... whoops
Hello, I just got DCS to install on CachyOS thanks to Skipper. In the graphics settings, are DLSS and DLAA bound to be unavailable? Or are there ways to get it enabled? Thank you
That i think you need to do funky dlls stuff
Known issues and troubleshooting steps for Nvidia users running Star Citizen on Linux
Thanks, this got the DLSS up but not DLAA, ah well better than nothing
How practical would it be to mount my DCS drive that I have working on windows? Or would I need a fresh install?
Also what distros are confirmed working for this?
I have it running in manjaro at least
Okay so it's not just Catchy?
OS that's what I saw skipper using or am I missing something
Ok, I'm running Arch + KDE plasma so I'd imagine it roughly works. I just don't want to reinstall 788gbs of DCS if it breaks so I'll have to figure something out
ah, CachyOS then, I don't keep track of the current flavour of the months that are out ๐
I've been dual booting for a year now and have just stuck with what I started with, granted I've had a lot of near reinstalls
Thanks Nvidia for that
Yep, it started as manually building, then the AUR and now it's just working as a normal package on pacman, its great
and not sure how well it would work with sharing the DCS folder with windows
but tbh I have thought of the same if I had to run windows
Unfortunately I still wouldn't be able to totally avoid it, school has an OS check on the proctoring software, I can probably get a VM to trick it though, then just run my software I use through that as well
Sadly, my stuff is set for Arch, i haven't had others tell me for issues.
I mean lets be real, if your not on Arch, are you truly living? /s
lol, well feel free to try my script and stuff. But please via console.

supposedly got a beta verison of SRS working with linux (I couldnt get it to even launch but hey...)
Cause its downloading an old version.
In the helper. There is a SRS link. Replace that with the new version and it will do it.
I specifically unpacked that beta version and tried to run it but nothing
or you mean that protonup doesnt download the version it sais it was downloading?
No my script downloads the 2.1.1 or what ever it is.
With the script. Delete the SRS zip in files
I didnt use your script, I changed wine version in lutris and launched a wine console and tried running the binary
I managed to get it running ๐
Woot! What you do?
I'll probably test it again. Haven't had much thought into dcs for a bit.
honestly not sure, messed around a bit and was able to start the installer
I think I possibly ran it with latest Proton-GE and then switched back to Wine 11.0 RC 3

Damn
I just got the MOZA throttle and takeoff/landing panel for my Nobara setup. DCS is detecting the throttle no problem but isn't detecting the panel. The lights on the panel are on and it's showing up in lsusb. Can anyone offer any advice?
Not really sure about that one honestly. Thinking of trying DCS in umu.... so that way i can VR
so with Wine not able to do VR, and im sure many people wanna do VR with the game i'll probably work on umu version ontop of the wine...
Chinook no. Mi8 no idea
I guess I will buy the fulcrum and try
Well. I might get a guide for umu for people that wanna do VR for it
That would be appreciated. When I'm in a position to try it, I'll report on it.
I bought the fulcrum, will let you know if it works later ๐
Woot.
it probably does though since usually the compability issues seem to be font textures in like MFDs and it doesnt have MFDs so... ๐
seems to work nicely but havent done a deep dive just a superficial check

you want dotnet9 and dotnet9-desktop for the new SRS btw
ah, so they upgraded it alright thanks for letting me know

so the steps i have so far with UMU if anyone wants to try and replicate and fix the above while i sleep

Hey @valid socket can you pin the above please? ๐ Aka the one that starts with "so the steps"
Thank you Fox
annnnd Head tracking AND VR is working via Umu.
Just tested SRS and it works \o/
Wooo i can play DCS again.,..
oh boy...
and with a 7900xtx.... she's gonna puurrrr
but does the global bindings for SRS work?
Yes.
tested it earlier while they were doing a training session
you should summarize what you did nicely in a guide ๐
I'll probably make a video for it and a guide.
for now the guide is above in the pinned
can you check if the profile drop down works? (selected value renders ok for me but drop down just black)
Eh?
i can do a video call if you wanna see
or explain
OH i haven't changed it
on tram to work so can't:)
so im not sure about that one
it is only on some
might have to hover mouse over it (some apps need that to "refresh")
i'll check it tomorrow and such
oki, thanks
but that should listen if you change your computer settings too
maybe a move of client might help. not sure
I think I tried that. the profile drop down is no biggie but the radio overlay is since that's where you set transponder for the viggen
Oh like profiles for each aircraft?
yeah that's the one I meant and transponder is on the radio overlay
Well. The controls worked fine for me. But I also have the in game controls on so I think the srs listens to that too?
yeah that works but viggen only has transponder code via srs
I ended up testing GE-Proton10-28 and it seems to mostly fix the black issues (the dropdowns will get redrawn if you move around in them and the radio overlay works so now I can set transponder code for viggen) and "the rest" (opentrack/dcs) seems to work too
GE-Proton hses the latest automatically which is 28
yeah but not sure how/when it was updated so to speak
just did a full DCS session as stress test
making sure DCS is stable with the proton-ge and such and all good
Woot.
I didnt cause any accidents either ๐
Well thats a first.

Interesting.... shocked they even trying to give linux proper support.
I got no idea if that will work... but also... i MIGHT have gotten VR to work on wine...
I'm getting this same shader error after having to reinstall my Nobara OS. Is there a fix for it?
depends on what you are using to start the game with
cause i believe is installing dxvk for it.
I'm running Lutris with GE-Proton (latest) and no wine prefix. DXVK is enabled.
Then im not entirely sure as i don't use Lutris :v
Do you run it through Steam then, or standalone via another app?
I em using Umu launcher for right now. i MIGHT be able to get vr working in wine.
Got it working via Proton Experimental and a couple of startup tweaks. Funny thing, since I had to reinstall DCS it now recognizes the second Moza throttle.
Well, i did have instructions on Umu in the pinned messages. But glad you got it working on steam!
VR setup will be done at another video, this is just BASIC stuff to get it working. I'll do a opentrack, VR and SRS video in the next one...

How goes the peoples?
Not well! Latest mesa etc update's kinda ruining my day, and rollback's only made it worse.
Yeesh
Ton of Vulkan errors, kinda expected.
Yeah, what the hell, vulkaninfo finds no drivers!
Found some ancient pair of environment variables I don't even remember setting that did that. Yay.
I'm sorry, yay.
I found a way to update WinWing products and probably so much other stuff too on here \o/
Just updated both my Winwing buttons and basically assigned them to what they are L and R and well it worked so well
Program is called Winboat from https://www.winboat.app/ and it works so freaking well
Donโt know what the numbers actually mean but:
heheheh woot
any of you tried combatflite in linux?
Never heard of it.
Is combatflite alive again? It has been dead for some years I thought
not sure, all I know is that it was mentioned in my squad when we were talking low altitude navigation
I think it is abandonware still
but free
Can anyone on mesa-26, AMD GPU verify whether SteamVR still likes to crash on startup? I'm getting the expected vrwebhelper/vrcompositor errors.
Well thatโs an improvement - I bought it years ago, found it to be a really good tool, and then it got abandoned and my license key would no longer activate.
Depending on your headset. Might have to switch to Envision for the meantime.
Index; I was afraid of such.
Envision's room setup seems to be reliant on SteamVR's, somehow - so that's a non-starter.
It should startup without steam....
How did you tey to start it? Cause I boot it up in its own profile. I'll give you a hand later when I wakeup
Oh good to know I bought it but never really used it like many other dcs related moneyeaves ๐ ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Hey all, I'm trying to install using the umu-launcher guides, but the installer won't even start
Any logs?
I can post my konsole results?
I'd put it in a .txt, but yes.
Its a fresh install of cachyOS
In the past I can get DCS installed, but couldn't get SRS or VR to work. Figured I'd give it another shot on the new guide.
I'm thinking its a wrong wine, like maybe I should use wine 11 instead of proton. But I have no idea how to make that work
it works with proton for me but I use lutris
and not cachyos
and GE-Proton10-28 ๐
Lutris here, too; should probably see about updating my GE, come to think about it.
and you can get SRS working
hmm.... and you have SRS and VR working?
but it needs a newer proton to be able to get dotnet10 working
since latest version of SRS requires it
I'll try a lutris install. I can get DCS working that way, and my flight setup, but then I can't get SRS/VR to link up. I'll get back to you.
SRS I think I got going, but VR has been entirely hopeless.
@vestal canyon were you the umu person?
yeah
Well they commented on my video last night at light 1am xD
Ya. That was me. I'm actually getting ready for work. I have the ChaosRifle Script running at the moment.
I don't get back home until about 1115PM CST
Oof.
Ya. I work from 1:40 to 10:10. And its about an hour each way. I can be on in the morning though if that helps. Just give me a time.
Alright. I let DCS update in game for all my modules. SRS auto loaded using the launch script from chaos rifle. I haven't tested my hotas and whatnot and don't have VR setup yet. I'm hoping tomorrow I can get this stuff finished and VR working. I'm sick of windows touching my stuff....
I did find that the launcher doesn't display using the script, but it used to when I used lutris
also make sure to double check that the bindings in SRS work
cause I had issues with SRS not picking up HOTAS-presses with wrong version of proton
I'll double check it when I get home tonight. I have it fully installed on Windows side, but I just can't stand windows anymore lol.
I like my cheat trainers too much XD. I suck at most games hahahah
But, ya. I'll check the proton and hooks when I get home.
I would also say check opentrack but you use VR
My install is using the Wine 11.4 staging with VR support
I can try a second install using lutris or umu later
Looks like LotATC doesn't like working with Proton, umu, or regular Wine. Installs fine, but on launch:
Anyone got any ideas?
sorry, none from me
Just decided to use WinBoat. Seems to be doing fine there (as it oughta). I'll see if there are any issues using it there but it's looking fine right now
Also: Just installed SRS for said LotATC (using umu though not winboat because winboat be annoying). I installed all the fonts from C:\Windows\Fonts that I could, but still looks like this. ny help?
is your voice working?
Fixed by using wine instead of umu-run
and I can hear myself through the preview audio but no clue if it will work in-game
then it should work
try arrow keys or hover yoru mouse over it
I can still select them and arrow keys do work, but still stays perfectly black
At least it works though
yerp
Ah this is a much bigger problem
Well at least I know keybinds work
Overlay doesn't though
...does going back to umu fix it?
oh... well it worked on mine..
SRS is supposed to be on umu :v
well is your game via umu or wine
I assumed more things would be broken cuz the fonts are
Cause im Umu and Chaos is wine
I'm not running DCS at all rn I'm just wanting to get it working for EAM to do GCI and ATC and stuff
and with Umu the overlays and dropdowns work
and keybinds do work
So unfortunately: Gonna look really bad, but it does indeed work
Well it seems like it should work fine here, probably user error as to why no radios are showing up
I'll test out WinBoat but i don't know how running multiple applications at once wil work there xd
With WinBoat, SRS runs and works pretty much perfectly, overlay works too. Running it and LotATC at the same time is probably gonna be a no-go... might use a laptop for LotATC
you should be able to use both at the same time o .o
Idk if I run them both it's like they take up too many resources and they both just freeze at once. Gotta sigkill them to close the windows, not even turning off the VM does it
Yeesh
So got to testing some more.
Seems like opening LotATC before SRS stops it from crashing, but I've only tested for about 10 minutes now.
With that said: incredibly laggy and probably not gonna be usable. Unfortunate.
...and another reason why I don't like windows
no thanks doesnt even work
nice
โฏ WINEPREFIX="/home/jc/Games/lotatc/" winetricks dxvk (otherwise it doesn't redraw)
then just wine LotAtcClient.exe
ALSO
i had to copy over httpapi.dll from my windows System32 folder and override it in winecfg (native, builtin)
there's an unimplemented function and it doesn't even run
@ whoever made this thread, sticky this
wait no hold on
ill write a better one in like 5 minutes after i test some more and reinstall it
this was just a teaser ๐
LotATC Install
====
PREREQUISITES:
Setup_LotAtc.exe(copied to your directory of choice)- Folders for your WINEPREFIX and the LotATC setup (in my case,
/home/jc/games/umu-dcsand/home/jc/games/lotatc)
NOTES: - Replace the
WINEPREFIXwith your own. umu-rundoes NOT work for some reason.- I'm using CachyOS, but this will probably work on other distros.
-
Run:
WINEPREFIX="/home/jc/Games/umu-dcs" PROTONPATH="GE-Proton" wine lotatc/Setup_LotAtc.exe
oYou can't install to the same directory as your wineprefix! -
Go through the installer. Select everything you want and then click install.
-
Go to Windows/System32 and copy httpapi.dll to your wineprefix's system32 folder, overwriting the old one
oIf you don't have a Windows install handy, then you can like download it or smthn, here's the checksum of the one from my personal Windows install (note: not updated in a while)
8371ad53156ca4d93937e3bbc99c2a382eb3258c438fb963e0c3c1c553f9f678 httpapi.dll -
Run
WINEPREFIX="/home/jc/Games/umu-dcs" winecfg, then go to theLibrariestab -
Add a new override: enter
httpapiand hit Add. It should automatically sayhttpapi (native, builtin); if it doesn't selectEditand select that option. -
Run
WINEPREFIX="/home/jc/Games/umu-dcs" winetricks dxvk(otherwise the client won't redraw)
- If you do this out-of-order, for some reason it just doesn't work. You can run the command again though without harm
-
CD into your installed directory, run
WINEPREFIX="/home/jc/Games/umu-dcs" wine client/2.7/LotAtcClient.exeand you're in!
oImportant When launching with Wine, it may show an error like "Assertion failed!" This is fine; just hit cancel twice. -
(optional) Attach it to the Lutris launcher. Really easy, has the icons and backgrounds and stuff. You don't get any errors when launching.
oMake sure to Enable DXVK inRunner optionsand configure other applicable settings.
thats a lot longer in discord than the text file
maybe ill make a video but probably not
=====
OF NOTE:
Looks like maps don't work. Like just at all. Don't know why
Also can't maximize the client outside of the main monitor. Also don't know why, maybe something to do with lutris?
Alright. I've got DCS and SRS loaded using chaos rifles script. Tonight, I'm going to finish installing wyvern and test everything. Crossing my fingers
The only thing I don't like about the script, is that I can't just double click my game and play. I need to launch using a second script.
You might be able to use Lutris, set the runner to Linux, and select the script as the executable. Otherwise you could alias it
Took some time to read through the log file. EVerything's coming thru as TypeError: Cannot read property [xyz] of null and I also get QGeoTileRequestManager: Failed to fetch tile (351,203,9) 5 times, giving up. Last error message was: 'Connection refused' as well as Error 415 (if it's http, unsupported media type)?
Also found this:
CANNOT FOUND FREE PORT FOR TILER 13527 14528 Invalid handle.
No clue what to do from here, but probably gonna be obnoxiously difficult to do on Linux. So no ATC for me until I use Windows, like take a picture of the map in DCS and use that, or fix this. Which I am not intelligent enough to do xd
If someone could test if loading, say, OpenStreetMap or another online map works, that could be nice
With that being said, normal GCI work might work? As long as bullseyes work, which I don't know and I really am too tired to test right now.
@weary moss Pin that one, please.
Also, re: my SteamVR troubles, seems it's because Arch is still on 26.0, and it got fixed in 26.1.
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamVR-for-Linux/issues/862
I've yet to verify personally, mind. CBA right now.
So it took a lot of messing around with amdonly AUR packages, but it finally worked and SteamVR starts.
Not me, guv. I haz no admin rights.
Plus anything you send to Devnull just disappears ๐
@valid socket Requesting instructions pin.
Alrighty. I have DCS and SRS installed and working (Hooray!!!!). I installed Wivrn, Xrizer, and WayVR. How do I get wivrn to detect DCS?
I installed DCS through lutris using the chaosrifle script. Then used the downloaded tools (same author, using the helper.sh tool) to install SRS, then copied my hooks into place. Only thing missing is VR
Last I checked VR was a bitch, and not a Chihuahua so much as a Saint Bernard.
Right. I just know its possible. My system is more than capable of it, just need help with the last couple steps.
I also know it's possible; I failed to get it working. Maybe soon.
@vestal canyon what are you using to launch dcs
Oh lutris... fuck thats gonna be a bit odd to get it working via that.
I don't mind reinstalling. But the umu method just wasnt working
Let me see if after some updates, umu will work this time.
Chaos rifle has a wine version i think you can use.
I just stay away from lutris due to their outdated bs
But im gonna go stream EFT xD
I used chaosrifles lutris script
Then used his helper script to install srs
Just tried running the umu stuff in terminal. Couple errors, then nothing
Can you post the errors?
does it load at all or just quit
cause the openxr is normal.... for now
oh... doesn't even install.
odd
Ya. Doesn't even start the installer
I just added the lutris install to Steam as a VR title. Can't test for a couple hours as I'm running a GradHop for my tomcat class in about 45 minutes.
Might have to use the GE-Proton33 to get it installed
Oh your on 34... i think 35 is latest.
nm you haev it correct ;v
I don't know why but this isn't working anymore. I might try to do some debugging tomorrow.
Of note: seems like after I added the httpapi override, it just.. disappeared for some reason? Don't know when but it wasn't there after I checked why the game wasn't launching on Lutris
Also will try using ufw to allow some more ports for the tiler but idk if that's gonna work.
If anyone has lotatc advanced and can try using openstreetmap or another online source for tiles that would be helpful
Hello, im trying to begin playing DCS and my OS is Linux. I watched the tutorial but just i was about to start the game (it didnt run the installer idk why) on lutris launcher i get hit w a error, can anyone help me?
While doing this part, it never opened a installer like in the video
It just says installion complete
I got over it by simply NOT using lutris.
Also, i still have a question if someone sees it please answer it. After i download the game, how can i download or use the planes i bought / or going to buy / trial ? Im srry but im like brand new to the game.
the download of modules is handled by the game. you buy/trial stuff go into game you get a a notification in the download thingie and it handles it
Oh, didnt know that.Thank you im downloading it rn , would you recommend any starter gear or do i just try to explore dcs with keyboard to see if i like it or not (i have a gamepad too but idk i thought of buying a joystick for planes but since im a beginner i wanna buy something easy and not so expensive. Or does linux support them etc. If you have any recommandetions please help me.)
gamepad is probably best
I went from keyboard+mouse+xbox one controller -> virpil HOTAS
so cant really tell you about what to get since I went high end straight away
How could you fly / use your controls with the controller, if you know could you tell me a tutorial or recommend me a video to watch, thanks for your support
Here is a link to all of my controller profiles:
https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/filter/type-is-profile/user-is-Tuuvas/apply/
This video is how to play DCS World with a gamepad. Have you ever wanted to play DCS World, but decided against it just because you couldn't afford a HOTAS? Well, I'm here to show you that a HOTAS is NOT ...
I wouldn't suggest you use Lutris. I would suggest you use wine pure or UMU launcher.
Yeah i kinda figured it the hard way, i am downloading on wine pure rn
thank you.
glad to hear! if you need Headtracking or VR support, it's a bit tricky on Wine (for VR, but headtracking is easy)
Well im currently on a laptop right now and i heard i could do headtracking with the camera, is that true?
AITrack and opentrack combination
Thank you for all your support but may i ask another question really quick? Is there a proper tutorial to do this to linux? Im using cachy as my main distro
Do i just open the exe's with wine or?
I mean i kinda searched it up and i need to do a proper build or something to run this on arch i think. As long as i know cachy is arch based so ill prob do that for opentrack
i personally found it much easier to use opentrack's native NeuralTrack as aitrack just didnt really work that well
well ill try that if the aitrack doesnt work
Idk how to operate both programs or how do i even download it or i suppose "build it" for opentrack but ill try my best
Just a simple video for installing Opentrack from github on an ARCH based distro.
github link: https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack
BUT i think that's an old video but it should work
yeah im tryin to follow that but cuz thats old idk, i will probably stick to the wiki's instructions
Pain's almost over!
headtracking is a big thing, huge improvement in capabilities and also in immersion
yeah its looks really cool i hope i can get it to work
Hey skipper, may i ask a question really quick?
if you got the cash. I would suggest using delanclip for your headtracking. Its out of the box and I got a code for like 5% off :v
I was following the steps of installing opentrack. How do i suprass this error?
I mean just like i said at the start, after i play some time ill prob go more professional but at the start i wanna make a basic experience
How do i do that?
Try typing the word in.
I think i did it
Its def. doing something
Well that command worked but i cannot install it
It says there is no such directory named "build" but i can cd in build so theres def a directory named build there
Hey!!
I somehow did it
Hey man i just have one last question, and im sorry that i disturbed you guys that much. Do i need to open the app by typing a code in cmd or is there another way arround it
Go to opentrack/build/install/bin/ and open the opentrack, you can also have it auto open and auto activate if need be.
But i shall go AFK, gonna go stream Tarkov PvE mode cause Fuck them and not letting Linux users do PvP xD
Thank you for all your support have a good game
My DCS just gives me a black screen, does anyone know how to fix it?
And a wine error at the start
I fixed it, i forced steam to play it with GE proton, it works right now.
Maybe i did not fix it i dont know, its been stuck like this for a while. Does anyone know a fix or i shouldn't have forced to launch with proton? Whenever i use wine it gives an error and crashes
When i try it with proton-GE it gives an DX11 error but its behind the DCS thing so i cannot interact with it
This is the error message.
Sadly i somehow broke the dcs-mt.. It doesnt even open anymore but the non mt one launches
gives that error like i said
Dxvk is needed
It's been a while... this should help
I gots it working!
