#Tracktical DCS (TRAINS)
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
We have discovered we low key love the subways today.
This is a special train.
We’ve ridden that one. 🤓
You rode it? We walked through it.
Well, we rode something that looked like it at Universal. Not sure which one that is and where. 😂
That's the Hogwarts Express at the Harry Potter museum in London.
Can a museum be based on a fictional world?
One's that are clean and don't stink.
Yes.
This one is a huge collection of the sets, props, and costumes from the making of the films.
too late you already did
Delete my internet history and leave my body in a ditch.
The ST70AH! It’s super cool looking. Just wish I could actually see one (or something other than a GEVO)
I wonder how you manage to get a bunch of old trains into a building like that if it’s not like how they moved 576 down the street
And how that would be allowed in the area it’s in
So like the air and space museum we went to yesterday?
Asian it having an X-wing and starship Enterprise
I'm not sure what Asia has to do with it, but that does sound awesome!
We surprised @silver storm with a trip on the Acela from DC to NYC for the night. He’s about to just spontaneously combust in the seat across from me. 😂
I almost did
Ew, desktop controls...
There are notches on the throttle (atleast on the locomotive I drive) I just don't like the ergonomics of the desktop style controls.
Oh ok. I’m guessing they don’t feel good to move?
Nah they're just awkward. And they can be hard to move just one notch.
I wish I had thought to take pics of it all when I was in France. Trains were really nice (when they arrived and were actually in service).
What’s france like? I’ve always wanted to go
Such a shame you don’t know anyone else to ask. 😝😝😝
What is France like? I’ve always wanted to go
France is a beautiful country with many amazing things to see and so much history, and it has the misfortune of being inhabited by the French.
Mais non, just the parisians
The people in smaller cities are mostly really nice, but villages and the country are SUPER.
The small towns were pretty decent. Paris was not my cup of tea.
I hope I get to go sometime. Sounds like fun
My 2 experiences with the French have been a Parisian and a farmer.
The Parisian treated me like I was dirt. The Farmer and I both geeked out about Diesel engines while I fixed his rental truck.
I spent three weeks in southern France living with a French family when I was 16. Everyone I met was really friendly and awesome.
Haven’t been to Paris. Only Parisian I can remember was a sub we had my senior year of high school who was horrified when I told the class asshole to “mangez moi” in the middle of class one day.
You spent 3 weeks in France going to school??
No, I spent three weeks in France between school years, and the next year we happened to have a Parisian sub for a while. 😝
Ah, Ok. I did wonder, seeing as there was a war on and all.
Oh i get it, you're implying he's very old.
they're retiring, or at least getting rid of, my favorite locomotive. I havent really seen it yet
First the F-14, now this
@tranquil plume go bring him to see the train
😝
It’d help if you ever knew where they were.
If you look carefully, you'll see that they leave tracks.
Waycross
It’s not exactly a small place.
Go take @silver storm to see his favourite train
I feel like you're not listening. It's not that easy. If it was, we would already have done it.
Surely he has some Facebook group with where it is
Well hey, don’t let reality stand in the way of your guesses. 😝
It doesnt work like that. there is no schedule, and nobody ever posts in those groups anymore. they wont let me back in the S&NA North Sub group after i accidentally left which is the only group i got real updates. All i have now really is the railcam
I do know there are 3 of them already parked in Waycross, but i dont know where any of the others are
and even then thats an enormous yard, you probably cant see them without either breaking in or flying a drone over the place, which is allowed
And plus there was 10 of them to start with, but with those three not getting assigned to trains and who knows how many others in maintenance, they’re extremely hard to find
Wait drones are allowed?
yeah there aare multiple drone videos of it
also the new CSX Heritage unit, the seaboard system heritage unit that came out a couple days ago #1982 came through town today. sadly we missed it but i saw it on the railcam
Don’t know about us laws but I doubt that one is allowed to fly a drone above active trains or tracks.
Would be quite a hefty fine here. Endangerment of public transport or something.
Be careful with that Trainboi.
Well the storage part of the yard it’s ok I think. There’s a whole section of that yard full of old rusty locomotives rotting away
Did you have a wheely good time?
My Nashville & Eastern livery I made for the SD40. In real life it’s a B40-7 but this is the closest to that in the game
My GP40 looks lonely I should get it a friend
GP40 is all you need. Great units.

No way those are all cut in.
Well they'd be cut in with their brake lines and probably their compressors. I meant to that they wouldn't all be set to run, or online. No more than 18 powered axles in a consist, and since those are each 6 axle units, only 3 of them could be set to run.
Well we just saw a train with five engines. 2 ES44AH’s leading , a couple of SD40-2s and weirdly enough an Amtrak P42DC trailing so I’m guessing those weren’t on at all except the two up front GE’s
Most likely
That's pretty close. And damn clipping along!
That isn’t close at all compared to how close I’ve been. It’s always a crazy feeling
I was told not to do that again
rightfully so.
You still want to become a train driver or do you have any interest in working on the tracks with electronics?
at what age do you guys usually start working?
I still wanna be a train driver. The minimum age is 18 but I’m planning on going to college
Then I’ll try to go into it
Let me know if that doesn’t work out or you want to try an apprenticeship or develop an interest for electronics or train interlocks. I have a very good connection to our managing director for the US part of the company.
That would make you being on the tracks at least legal and save. 😉
I will if I need it. Thanks
Why college if railway? People hire on at the railways because they haven't gone to college.
FFS, don't try to talk him out of college! 😝
So I can get a better education
You should definitely go to college. Especially if your parents are paying for it.
Don't look at me i didn't even spell college right
College is always the way. Gives you way more options.
Well I’ll put in what I have for college too
It also makes you smarter. You learn more too.
Well, I've met plenty of people who seem to have gotten more stupid during their degree...
They were probably pretty stupid to begin with.
Get good grades in high school so you can get lots of scholarships!
Education is one of the rare things in life nobody can take away from you.
Honestly, I'm not sure. Maybe it just got exposed more.
I've certainly known people who thought that their degree somehow made them smarter. They were universally wrong.
Mine just made me more employable, which I guess was the point.
576 is almost complete
Train
Yes
Oh wow is that a museum railroad?
Yea
That’s pretty cool! I’d like to do that. If I get to Australia then I wanna see that
Thanks!

What track scale is that?
I have no idea, it just came up in my recommendations and I thought it was pretty cool. 🙂
It is very cool.
I had a train track growing up. It was on a sheet of wood. There was nothing else.
And you named your fictional kingdom "Woodland".
Little short for double traction, it might go over the alps.
I’ve never seen coloured tank cars. That’s interesting
Short trains are more difficult to handle than longer ones.
ELI5
A short train gets up and down grades more quickly and spends less time in curves in the rail. A longer train going through twisty or hilly territory is spread out with some parts going up hill and some going down, so it balances itself and runs pretty constant. Plus it has more brakes. A short train could be all going uphill at once or all going downhill at once and that makes it more difficult to control. The worst trains to run are short and heavy trains like sulphur or rock.
ELI1
Ah, that actually makes sense. Thanks pal.
Train
no thats a car
No it’s a boat
No it's a plane
No it’s a bike
No it’s Superman
This is what i was waiting for
I was desperately trying to find a good gif for it!
It's not too late. I'll wait.
It’s a bird!
It’s a plane!
No…
ITS SUPERMAN!
Trains are no laughing matter.
They are for us.
Like the look on Trainboi’s face when HC and I start making up locomotive designations?
Hilarious!
True
I hope next time we go train hunting we see a CD1976XR!
Oh i love driving those. Much nicer than the XDE4160-7's
Personally I like the IKEA736529-9
Now you're just being silly.
Swedish train-KIT, allenwrench included.
Nope, that’s a train house. 😉
Push all the buttons.
It is actually a house train.
A house train house even. Maybe we put on some house music as well.
Put House MD on the TV, too.
I got a cool picture
Yeah well I got a funny picture. 😝
Also, don’t worry folks, I know what the sign actually means.
Well still, it’s better to stay off the train
M215
Good, because i didn't feel like explaining it.
I made a joke about that a while back on Facebook. I don’t feel like going back and finding it
I think people have been making that joke since the term was invented.
Correction: the coal train was C307 and the manifest train was M515
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fnzzggnqrng my video of the trains from yesterday
ok i just changed my channel name why is it still the old one 😭
ill just have the link
It’s nothing to cry about!
Relying on momentum and speed to get me up the hill
That is entirely too many locomotives. You'd better not have more than three of them cut in.
It seems to be that they’re all cut in and producing power. Why would I have all those if I’m not gonna use them
It’s like a 3% grade
Operating proceedure is to have no more than 18 powered axles in a consist. IRL you can do some funny stuff to the rail if you've got more than that.
Iv driven a single steam loco hauling coal up a 7% grade
I was not aware of that
Steam locomotives are just built different
They’re insane
Oh a steam engine will out-pull a diesel.
You know what happens if you try to run off a rug on a slippery floor? It just kinda pools up behind you. Too much tractive effort can have the same effect on rail. 😂
He likes to push me around our wooden floors in my socks, so he’s got the basic idea.
Really?? It's the FIRST day of school! 😝
Looks like a side swipe
Wdym
That you were on Discord at school. But I was just teasing.
Why r u playing train games at school
Good question
More importantly why aren't you looking where you're going?
I didn’t feel like it
And your front knuckle should be closed
Man, what a crappy, low-detail sim.
If i wanted to be really picky about it one of the MU hose gladhands on each side are backwards.
I’ve figured out that I really don’t want to be an engineer or conductor when I grow up. The railroad, class 1 and short lines, are pretty crappy. It’s not a life a want for myself. I know I will have to figure out something else but at the end of the day i want to be in my own bed.
That’s pretty mature thinking. 👍
You still have a lot of passion for trains and I can assure you that there’s a f&@&-ton of interesting jobs around that industry.
Jobs that take you trackside every now and then are really nice, you get to see something.
Can recommend to get some sort of electrical engineering degree and take a look at signaling engineer or safety engineer positions.
My to-be-brother-in-law works for a big consulting company in the UK, he plans and evaluates future track and interlock building projects around the world. Currently oversees a new project in estonia for a couple of weeks.
He says it’s like playing with a model railway in the largest possible scale, 1:1.
Another Saturday morning in the Psycho house.
WE SAW THE CHESSIE SYSTEM HERITAGE UNIT
this is accurate
just..... sadness
how the hell have they got from TSW1 to 4 in 4 years
wtf is the development timeframe
@silver storm
Idk. Each game has brought a lot of cool stuff but why couldn’t they have just added it to the original?
It doesn’t make any sense. But the PC editor and picture mode will be cool
They could have, but making each one a separate game means we’ve bought basically the same game four different times now.
an Editor? I might have a reason to buy this one then
Yeah you can create your own routes and locomotives with it
Along with improved livery designer
That’s the part I don’t understand. Just add onto the original
I don’t get the point
Woah I like those. Those look real different from what we have here
Much narrower gauge here
I’d like to see that someday. American trains can get boring sometimes
I dunno if the DL’s are the new ones or not, but they’re the main loco’s around here
I’m going to have to do more research on that I’m curious
I’ll do it when I have some time at school. I’m still in the car
Or after schools good too
Good lad, in state or away catching your fancy?
But then they wouldn't make more money by selling it as a new version. That's the whole point - to make people spend more money.
Then dovetail sucks
Either is fine with me
Well, yes and no. The work it takes to develop the new features does cost money, so they can’t just do it for free. They have to pay the programmers and testers and project managers and whoever else. But calling it a whole new game every time they do it isn’t entirely honest either. It’s one of those things that doesn’t have a perfect solution.
shiiiii..... now that is something i'm curious about
especially the livery thing
given how many Sheds there are in the UK, and how many liveries have not been implemented, either by Game or 3rd party
the critical thing is - is it (the asset editor, i take it) easy to use?
that depends. I dont know how to use it real well so its difficult. But for this next game itll be easier apparently so when it comes out ill try it and let you know
New CSX paint scheme is coming!
neat, looks quite nice haha
THEY RESTORED A DDA40X!!
It’s nice seeing something that gets manufactured just below my office out in the wild doing it’s job.
What is that
Wheelsensor, that’s used to make level crossings and sections in railroads work. That basic sensor for all rail operations in most countries.
It detects and counts train wheels, determines speed and direction of travel and verifies that all cars are accounted for in simple terms.
So a defect detector?
Not really. You know how track sections work, like only one train can ever be in a section and the next one needs to be cleared for the signals to go green?
Those sensors get the required data for the interlocking to work.
ELI1
Pouring down rain and where is @silver storm? Standing in the rain looking at a stopped train. 😂
He got a cool picture though.
It was worth it
This is my wallpaper now
And if it’ll show up, my new pfp
Standing in the rain looking at trains? You'd definitely make it as a railroader.
well me and my dad were both annoyed about me being wet so who knows
But it was worth it
TRAIN SIM WORLD 4 COMES OUT IN 8 DAYS!!!
One week!
You mean you drained @tranquil plume s bank account even more
Well, it meant i dont get my allowance for a few weeks, so its even
Pretty much, yeah.
You buy premium editions of games full price i wait for a big sale even if it’s months to ask my mum for smth the last game I got was 2 dollars on sale
Smart strategy. Even then it’s worth sometimes to check mmoga for a steamkey first.
We usually do that for routes and stuff, especially if it costs a lot
We owed him a couple of weeks allowance anyway, so it was just easier for everyone to preorder the game, skip the pleading, and keep the cash. 😄
Can it be tomorrow now?
Dang
8:00 UTC it will be available for pre-release, which is what im getting
so 3:00AM my time
early access, thats what i meant
On my travels last week, got a nice snap of a 802 at Grantham
Ooh that’s a colorful locomotive! I like it
The upside of being an adult with a fulltime job is I can afford new games at full price. The downside is I don't have any time to play them!
Hull Trains my guy
I do love snapping the more colorful locos haha
Been lucky enough to see the GWR Pride 800 twice on my route
sadly the CrossCountry 43s have just been withdrawn from service so that's even less of the dinosaurs around :(
TSW4 is cool, but I’m lost and confused without my AC4400CW
But I like the new trains. It’s definitely a cool change
It’s a cool looking locomotive too. I wish we had locomotives like that
It is an awesome bit of kit, Class 800

I026 got a defect and stopped on the mainline
I cut off the video at just the wrong time. It JUST started the “you have a defect” call and I FREAKIN TURNED OFF THE VIDEO IN THR MIDDLE OF THE CALL
HOW STUPID COULD I BE
It may be another 16 years before I have that chance again
I’m gonna cry
WAIT NEVR MIND I SAVED IT I GOT THE REST OF IT IN THE OTHER VIDEO WOOHOO
This line is dead whenever I’m there, but busy when I’m not
Because you’re always there early in the morning before school.
But they’re there like every other day
Hey train people, what is the most efficient combining design if one have alot of railway lines?
This is properly doing my head in
That looks really nice! That looks like it would be really efficient
i figured it out
Beamng my beloved
I like trains
More like non-tracktical
I've never seen these before
It looked like it was gonna be a LONG process for the line of cars that were derailed there.
i think they just exist to rerail trains
@void halo or @silver storm , I just saw a train with 3 of the engines, but it looked like only one was pulling them. Are the others just there as a backup or are they being moved.
Short answer: there if they need them, and for extra air.
Long answer: Sometimes a train goes one direction empty or light weight, or the grade is mostly downhill and doesn't need a lot of power to move it, so they'll cut-out the other locomotives to save on fuel. But when it comes back it may be loaded so it's heavy, or the return trip is uphill, so they'll need the extra power to move the train.
And always the brakes on a train are controlled by air, and more locomotives means more compressors means more air, so even if the locomotives aren't pulling they're still supplying air.
It is also l possible that they just need to move those units from one place to another, and when that happens they'll be marshalled on the head end of the train.
Ah ok
@void halo are railfans distracting if they’re just standing around taking pictures?
Yes, because I yell at them "Don't get too close or you'll die!" to myself from within the cab.
I'm always on the lookout for anything or anyone near the tracks, just to be sure it's not a hazard. People walking along the tracks with their heads down, vehicles about to run crossings, anything parked near the tracks. An engineer I worked with once tackled a guy who was walking head-down with headphones on straight down the middle of a track. Had no idea a train was coming straight at him.
We were actually pretty far away. Someone was just feeling sensitive or something.
I'm pretty confident you guys know better. Honestly, it's more amusing than distracting. I can think of way more distracting things I've seen on the rail.
Yeah we know better. I won’t get within 10 feet of a moving train
Psycho won’t let me either
I aim for atleast 30 feet away if I'm doing a roll-by, and if I can stand a little further away all the better. But I'm not looking for a good shot, I'm just inspecting the train as it goes by. So long as you're not trespassing or so close that I'm worried it's dangerous i've never been bothered by people spectating.
Although I do love occasionally making you think I’m going to try jumping on a moving train. 🤣
dont say that in front of patches
but yes
if the crew says its ok for me to get close then ill get close, but only if theyre stopped
@tranquil plume on friday can we go to train track
me drive?
You already have plans for Friday.
I have work.
Can we just talk about this instead of discussing it on Discord?
You need to be ….yeah, that.
But your room is just so far
Yeah he was downstairs and I was upstairs on the other side of the house
We still got gamin to do
I took this little goober railfanning (the teeth are fake)
In that case
Jeez i jump on moving trains all the time
Yeah, see? NBD!
Is that a Baja blast
Wow, I’m impressed!
So is it ok if I jump in the cab and take a look?
🙄
Are you a company employee who has been properly trained in entraining and detraining moving equipment with the authorization to be in that locomotive?
Why’s that?
You recognized Baja Blast from just that little slice of it in the pic.
There’s only one soda that color
But you recognize it which means you have the good taste to know it. I’m with Trainboy - it’s my favorite.
I like the Orange Vanilla Cokes except they disappeared
Well, the Can and Bottle form disappeared
I know I can operate a train safely
And I have a vest so I could get last security
Past*
Man’s prepared
This is all a joke btw I’m not going to actually do it
I need to start setting aside a bail fund…
Nah I’ll be fine
You can do lots of stuff with a hi vis vest
Someone’s tap was broken in their garden on our street so put on high vis take a wrench and done no one suspects a thing
Well mine has the CSX logo on the back so there isn’t much I could get away with
Gamin when
I play games like every day
rn
Question for trying to do train spotting/taking pictures of them. Is there anyway to really track trains coming through a town. Talking Union pacific cargo trains and not passenger ones
No not really. The best way is to just go to some railroad tracks and wait. It can take between 30 seconds to 2 hours
Eventually you start to learn the patterns and times that there are more trains. Like in my area most trains come through in the afternoon or morning but least at noon-1pm.
We spend a lot of time desperately wishing for something like Flight Radar 24 for railroads.
Ah thank y'all both. Yeah I've got a UP rail line through my family's farm town and it would be nice to get some pics. Also is there like a minimum distance you legally have to be from the train tracks?
Theoretically you’re not supposed to be on railroad property. Generally they don’t care as long as you maintain a safe distance from the tracks. We usually stay at least ten feet away and rarely have an issue. Inside that close they get a little antsy sometimes. @silver storm had an engineer tell him over the radio a few months back that his tripod was too close to the tracks.
What radios do they use?
You know, I’m not sure if it’s UHF or VHF. @silver storm has a scanner that we use for both railfanning and plane spotting.
Yeah I set my camera too close to the train because it came out of nowhere and I was in a hurry. But I don’t let myself go within 10 feet of a moving train
I’m pretty sure some kind of AM or FM radio because one of my engineer friends sent me a video from the cab of them listening to one of our local radio stations
Found a frequency list online and they look like VHF.
Might have multiple radios in the cab, too.
I really expected the precursor to the DC-3 to look more….airplane-ish.

Newag programmed their trains to fail.
When I was about 6 years old. (I am 52 now) My mom was stopped at a train crossing. A Freight train stopped right before the crossing. Something needed to be fixed before he could cross it. (I dont remember the story that well other than being scared) He and my mom started talking and the guy said to me "want to go up in the engine?" I barely remember anything but being insanely scared of the huge loud train. My mom tried and begged me to get on it. I wouldnt. Apparently I made a huge scene screaming and everything. yeah one of my biggest regrets not getting on that train and seeing it. I am sure you never would get that opportunity these days.
It’s very rare to get that opportunity now, but I understand being scared. Those things are super loud
I remember being horrified.. VERY vivid. Her dragging me torward the engine and thinking it had some kind of gears or something I could fall into and get ground up. Didnt sound safe at all. I regret it too. But I also regret when I went to the airforce recruiter right after college and getting married and NOT signing up then. I could be flying C5s right now and about to retire.
I love train simming too. (As long as it isnt dovetail games)
What train sims aren’t Dovetail these days?

We’ve got that in VR but @silver storm hasn’t played it much.
It is a big clunky but it feeds the need. I got it quite a bit ago for half that amount.
Nice! Those are great pictures! What kind of camera are you using?
Wow those are really good
Canon SL3. Was shot with a 17-55mm F-2.8 lens gold band canon lens
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrlrbfGZo2k The first part of this talk is incredibly technical, but I promise it pays off. Corporate corruption, reverse engineering and a great hero v. villain story.
Actual talk is about 40 minutes long, the rest is Q&A

Unadvsiable place to stand
@silver storm your gonna love what I’m doing today
Plus me teasing @silver storm for jumping every time the train blew its horn.
In todays video, we take a trip to The Land Down Under, which is home to some of the most wonderfully unusual railroads out there. There's driverless trains in the west, bi-directional streamliners in the east, and one of the world's most desolate right of ways in the south, along with much, much more!
Official Discord Server: https://discord....
It's weird hearing your natural voice rather than the headset voice lol.
Wow they really slammed the throttle
This is my best horn mod
Trains Trains Trains
Hey! The old train pun was funny
It was but @silver storm said he was afraid new people might not understand it since he’s usually the only one posting in here.
Tracktical DCS (TRAINS)
I liked the old name too so I changed it to the best of both.
Can I post tanks here too?
Sure! This is the best way to see tanks, after all....
Nothing really identifiable but considering they're still tan my bet is Fort Bliss, Fort Hood, Or another southern post.
Yeah, I dunno. Just stole it off the internet. 😄
I remember right before and after the Gulf War seeing trains like that go by my grandparents’ houses, which were both near train tracks.
id like to see one of those military trains someday
with the loooooong rows of tanks
theres been more of those trains going around lately
When I was growing up on Fort Hood I'd see the AFV trains constantly. It's also neat hearing the different engines starting up when they unload them. Bradleys were very loud IIRC.
No time for setup, just jump out and took some pictures
I FINALLY SAW MH FAVORITE LOCOMOTIVE, THE SD70AH-T4
You'll get a kick out of this Dobby.
On my commute home from work I drive over train tracks, well there is a bunch of chemical and manufacturing plants there so they have a train dock and there is always a train there on Wednesdays and Fridays.
It's fun because when you stop to let the train pass when it is time for it to the leave the engineer always plays something on the electric horn or PA. I don't know trains much outside steam locomotives.
Oh wow, that sounds really interesting. I didn’t know trains have outside PA systems
Where is that
This is in Indianapolis
Me? 😄
Dude I wish I could share Trainspotting pics but there aren’t any lines in my area
Flagstaff AZ is a trainspotters paradise but it’s 3h away
I’ve loved trains as a kid and I know the rail companies but I’ve been able to identify models like aircraft
Flagstaff is super popular but yeah 3 hours is a lot. Maybe there are other spots on that line between you and there
Unfortunately the only ones that are near me are pretty much empty
Ohh ok, probably branch like or a shortline
YN2 + 2X H2
Oh and a KCS engine
I wish my school system would do this
They probably wont do it for N.C&St.L 576 when it runs for the first time
Typical Saturday morning.
I love train cars with really cool graffiti. That’s about the coolest autorack I’ve seen! @silver storm
Ngl I think if that car every time I see an autorack train
That's awesome!
I have no idea what im doing!
Looks like you need some training.
nyes.. but then again.. im not much for trains.. the linearity.. it dosent agree with me
Maintenance equipment on the branch line
That's a strange looking helicopter.
Crappiest train I’ve ever seen
Bros living his best life
Norwegian MOWer!
We’re currently trapped by a train. This parking lot is a great spot to get up close pictures but the road out of here is on the other side of the crossing and the train is at a dead stop. ☠️
heh, American trains are so ridiculously long, i'll never get my head round it
us brits are lucky if we get more than 30 wagons behind
This one was so long they had to take a few cars off the end just so it would be allowed to run
Heads up, Big Boy 4014 is going on a tour of the US
Their closest stop to me will be in Chicago so I'm sadly going to pass on that
I’ve heard, they’re going to Florida so they may pass through Tennessee on their way
How do you know where it’ll go?
UP announced a lot about the tour the other day. https://www.up.com/media/releases/4014-heartland-tour-nr-240617.htm
Oh dang. I guess no 4014 for us
They didn't include all the stops just yet
So it's possible both of us may get to see it just not at a full refuel stop
I want to go there
Talk to your dad about vacation destinations. If you are ever in the area I‘ll happily take you there.
I sense psycho being bothered about this in the future
It’ll take more than nagging to get us to Austria, unfortunately.
i have faith in trainboy
It is a beautiful country tho, with a lot to see even non-train related 😉
outside and inside of the electronics shed in Paola, Kansas where BNSF and Union Pacific tracks cross each other.
wasn't there myself but spent several hours last night on the phone with a coworker there on site.
Saw something different today.
I did a better job this time
Ooooo pretty’
Thanks
When were low I saw a red white and blue passenger commuter train but it was too quick I could snap a pic
Took those yourself?
That’s cool, I wish I lived near a railroad, well I do but good luck finding a train
My closest busy railroad is a 2 hour drive north
I assume it’s either a branch line or class 2 or 3
You get some cool treats up there
Ohh dang
Yeah just single line
But it’s awesome when you do go up, no more than say 15-20mim between trains at the extreme
That’s actually a great time between trains
Sometimes I wait for two hours and get nothing
Recently an SD50 has been running around the area. They’re super rare locomotives (4 left on class 1 railroads in total) but I’ve seen it like 4 or 5 times randomly now
I saw that exact train on my way home from work a few days ago. It was around 10:30 PM
It was going east bound on the tracks.
CSX 8619??
Oh that’s sick, I can’t identify makes and models of locomotives I just think they look cool
Yeah that’s fair. I think so too
That’s because they all look the same.
That’s what cousins tell me about jets and it pisses me off so much lol
Saying it about trains pisses off @silver storm too.
No jet or locomotive looks exactly the same
Mods pin this
Pretty sure. As it was coming up I was in the front of the line because I was the only one that stopped for the crossing lights.
I wonder if it's still on my Dash camera
Today’s trainspotting view. Cooler weather, back in the shade…this is civilized.
Where is that that looks awesome
Shelby Park in Nashville
Dude set up a picnic there with friends…that’d be so much fun and doing Trainspotting as well
If a train ever comes along, @silver storm’s gonna have some great pics.
Oh yeah I can imagine
Well it turned out we never saw a train there
Secret service shut down that line
For the day at least
@tranquil plume
I don’t get to see it, too far west smh
We’re planning to catch the Fort Worth stop. Got family in the area and it happens to coincide with Fall Break from school.
Yay!!
Seriously, geniune question, what is the deal with trains?!
theyre rolling bricks on rails
That’s like saying what’s the deal with airplanes? They’re fake metal birds in the sky.
They have a beauty to them
It’s not apparent to everyone but to those who do see it it’s awesome
hmm.. that reminds me

Woooah...
Bricks that make 4,400 horsepower
And they make cool noises
For those who like both trains and military hardware: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_1TwvtRhJz/?igsh=MXdvdzdxZnR3MXdwdA==
saw that.
I'm guessing Mr Trucker beached himself?
While I'm not the worlds biggest fan of 'murican trains, why must they hurt me in this way
😭
Yeah, it was a low clearance trailer and got stuck trying to go over an above grade crossing. Truckers are supposed to know better with that type of trailer. Those trains are way too heavy to be able to stop quickly.
I dunno how it's done in the States, but at least in Britain you'd phone the local signaller/signal panel, state you are a trailer at risk of grounding, ask if it is clear, and receive an instruction from them
That’s genius!
That is actually a requirement for wheel and axle sensors to not detect such things in a big part of the world.
That specific one is new to me but you wouldn’t believe how often train tracks are used privately by makeshift trolleys and other weird vehicles.
Features a steam locomotive and train in Alton, Hampshire, UK. Perhaps a Black Five. During Christmas Holidays seasons.

Canadian locomotives in Tennessee
The Canadians invaded lol
We found a piece of equipment in the yard today that looks like it has a jet engine on it.
Probably is a jet engine, they are (were) used to blow snow off the tracks.
Sadly not to make the train go like really fast.
I thought about that, but it’d be kinda out of place here. Could be it’s being moved for repair work or something.
Found a picture of it online from a little different angle and I think that’s exactly what it is.
I’ve been using Lightroom!
