DirectX 11: Make sure your game is either in borderless windowed or windowed mode, otherwise the overlay won't be visible on top of the game.

DirectX 12: DirectX 12 does allow the overlay to be rendered on top of the game, if you have DirectX 12 enabled, then make sure the overlay and its widgets are enabled.

You can set MHW to use DirectX12 if you access the settings menu from the title menu. The menu differs from the one ingame after joining a session.

These display settings can reset on you if your game crashes, so double check that before you dismiss this.
