Got new host. Picked up an older Dell PowerEdge T640. Got 256 GB of DDR4-2400 ecc ram, 2x Intell Xeon Silver 4116s (total 24 cores/ 48 threads) and 2x 1tb ssds in raid 1 for the os and 4x 1tb ssds in raid 5 for 3 tb storage.

Now I want a tower server. Not that I have room for anymore gear or anything.

That is a nice beast.

We deployed similar models at my last job, I personally know the weight.

I have a SuperMicro 4U case, which if I remember when I bought it was 50+ lbs with just it and the PSU.

#

Like your HP, it does not get moved much.

I need to retrofit it into a NAS, but that takes time and money.

#

Also, it is not the largest machine, that I have ever handled /owned.

It is. So far I love it. And it’s quiet to boot. Well. At least way more quiet than the supermicro chassis I used to rock.

And work had an old apc smc1500rm2unc that just needs a new battery. So I’m adding that to my rack too.

@dull kraken Does your beast have the hot-swap bays up front for 3.5in drives?
