I started the homelab thing with an old PC case from my dad, took out the old FM2 motherboard and put in an AM4 with my old 3600x. While I hadn't even gotten anything other than Proxmox installed on it, I saw a deal on a Rosewill 4u for half off and went for it. Plans are mainly for home media streaming with this but we'll see. Not new to PC building, but definitely new to self hosting.

Usually the case lid is on and the unit shoved back in the shelf, I had to pull it out to see why the 4 new HDD's I installed weren't being seen. Turns out if you only halfway plug in an HBA cable, it can't see the drives.
that's awesome. I love the mad scientist laboratory thing you have going on there. lol
Nobody has ever told me I was organized lol
Also the 4 drives I recently got came in these cages. Oh no...now I might have to look for a place to use these...
Worst case scenario those usually fetch around $5 apiece on eBay.
hell, you should see mine. lol
Tonight I decided I was gonna use these in an attempt to isolate the vibrations from the shelf so I couldn’t hear it downstairs anymore
