I tried to build my first barn (Made it a medium so i could start my Sheep/Goat empire) and cleared the footprint, but it won't let me finish the building or cancel it. When I try and complete it, it says there's still stuff in the way, but i've cleared the inside and a good bit around the edges. When i try to relocate or downsize, I can't select the barn in build mode to delete it.

From my experience when it says there is stuff in the way it’s usually a single pesky piece of grass 😭 do another walk around and make sure there is no grass remaining.
Building selection is off by default in build mode so people don’t accidentally delete their houses. There is an option on the side of the screen that says something like “select buildings” or something. That will allow you to interact with buildings.
