Since my house is now built, I moved the cat bed/food bowl/water bowl inside. Now my cat "can't" eat or drink, even though I don't have the bowls anywhere near walls. I slept two nights, and closed/opened the game on the second night. The issue is not resolved.

I moved the bowls back to the open shed; the cat is now fine. I still want the bowls inside the house.

The pets seem to only eat/drink from the bowls from one side so the bowls need quite a lot of space on that side while the other sides are fine. What worked for me was placing the bowls and then waiting near them until the pets tried to use them. That way I could see which side they were trying to drink/eat from and then adjust the bowls accordingly. (If you have to wait too long for the pets to come to their bowls, you can just pet them, which kind of kickstarts them into using the bowls)

When I tried (before I made this post) that when I tried to align the bowls so the access side faced out, the drone 'spins' the bowl when it picks it up so quickly it's hard to remember just which edge is the access point. (Especially with the round water bowls!) Those points either need to be marked, or there really shouldn't be a single point.

Oh no! The drone didn't spin it in my case, I wonder what you can do to prevent that 
And I agree, it would really help to mark the access point or make the bowls accessible from every side.

the cat's probably just unhappy that it's been relegated to drinking from the dog water bowl all this time. 
(that said, I would really love a triangle indicator in item placement so I know which side is which! like the ones in Vending Dokan! Sia!!!)

I could have sworn I bought the cat water bowl. But it turned into the dog water bowl when I placed it down. A bit of a petty annoyance, but Duke drinks from it okay, so I let it go.

yeah, it turns into a dog water bowl once you place it - but the cat'll drink from it regardless 🙂
