Seriously how is everyone collecting resources (ex: Wood, Clay and Iron) when you can NOT finish a day to sleep doing this without the game freezing. I wake up and immediately go out to start chopping or breaking rocks 1st thing and 1 hour into doing these chores it freezes up. I take my time: chop or break pause and wait to do again (no holding down R2 / playing on PS5) and it crashes everytime. I gave up on fishing but can't progress or build anything without resources 😦

I have had a few crashes, but not as much as you are experiencing. Since I started doing the pause between swings it hasn’t been that bad for me. My last few freezes were while doing random things like sitting, running, and biking.

I never had a crash while gathering. The pauze helps too yeah. Now that I have one hit destruction for stones, it's no issue.

But yeah, try the pauze and hope that will go better

I've been doing the pause swing and that has been helpful for me. I also stay clear of the ocean as I seem to freeze there the most

Caves unfortunately I really only get the ore from the begining area before you actually go into the caves, so very slow on iron. Tend to freeze in battles.

Trees I stay behind gabes or by the research lab. I personally focus on one type, like just hardwood for one day and maybe some softwood the next. I don't cut all the trees around me but skip here and there.

I also have my settings turned down some from the very high or whatever it was called, don't remember at moment sorry.

Fishing I go to a river/stream by a bridge across from mechanic shop, that seems to work good for me

I tend to not do much if it's a heavy storm day or farmers market as I tend to freeze more often then not. Not sure if the game has too much to try and load with all that and that's causing issues or what, just a theory

Definatley a slow process but seems to work.

I did recently place a huge order with Phillip and it never delivered, so that has me sad. Like 200 hardwood and 200 softwood mix of items

I have been doing the pause between every swing and even stand there for a few seconds before swinging again. I am about to work up to the one hit on the skill tree and fingers crossed that will help as above suggested. No matter how slow I take it I am getting those crashes (most days like 3 in a row no matter what / on PS5)

Thanks so much for all the detailed notes. Was wondering about the rain and am still curious if the addition of sparky always being with me (since his tail is always spinning) hinders it hence your theory on "too much to try and load" as I didn't experience crashes until he came on the scene 🙂 If you are trying to collect ore and clay and in an effort to stay out of the mines I go to the beach and pick up scrap metal (luckily that doesn't involve swinging anything) to recycle to iron and those rocks behind Gabes has crazy amounts of clay in them (but I crashed 3 times in a row there which caused me to create this post out of frustration. Can't catch not one fish out of the ocean so I do stay away from beach fishing completely.

You are so lucky then. Sat down to play for a few hours this evening. Thought I'd tackle trying to get thru the 1st Cave....made it to the end and it froze up, crashed and the report to Playstation option even appeared which doesn't typically happen. When in the cave I did not even break rocks I just did the run thru to power up all the power stations. When chopping trees I can't move any slower than I already am (I do have the upper portion thingy unlock on the skill tree so while that helps with the trees but it doesn't prevent it from freezing).

Which PS5 model do you have? 🤔 Also, how much disk space do you have available?

For iron, use the recycler outside Tech Hero (I had no idea it was there forever). If you are good with money, buy nails and toss them into the recycler. Youll get a pretty 1 to 1 iron for them.

Clay: the rocks along the river of Gab's farm has a ton. Of course assuming you can get through them without crashing.

Trees: I found i started crashing less once I was able to pick up the skill perks that make chopping more efficient. You could try chopping just a hand ful of trees each day until you can get some of those perks. I still have to do the slow chopping method though because the console version really hates holding down for resource gathering.

For context, I’ve had no freezing or crashes. My PS5 is one of the originals, the disk version and I have the physical copy of Sunnyside. I keep trying to find out what others are on to see if there’s any correlation.

I’ve also noticed that one version of the Xbox struggles more than the other which made me extra curious for the PlayStation versions

Just to add some data to the list, I have a disc PS5, probabaly like a day 1 version, as I got it like a month after launch day

Only mod I've made was to expand the memory to 1tb, currently playing digital sunny side
