Ever since I first played this game yesterday, I’m having a huge lag issue.
So at first when I boot the game, I’m at a solid and fluid 40-50 FPS. Nothing to write home about, but pretty decent.
Then after a while, it tanks to 30 FPS, then 20, then progressively gets closer to 5-10.
Sometimes when I sleep, the issue goes away for a few minutes. When I relaunch the game, it goes away completely until it happens again.
I can’t pinpoint the cause for this. All I know is that it tends to get worse after spending a lot of time in menus (opening ofuda packs and battles seem to be the worst offenders.) Also happens after grabbing a lot of items off the ground. (e.g. after cutting trees.)
When this happens, some 3D models stop being loaded altogether (either environmental props or sometimes even characters) and, at worst, textures stop loading properly. (So everything remains kind of pixelated instead of fully loading.)
My rig has a Ryzen 5900X, Nvidia RTX 4090 and 64 GB of RAM DDR4 so I don’t think it’s a computer-side issue. I tried playing with the game options (loading sublevels or not, DLSS enabled or not, settings at minimum…) but there doesn’t seem to be much of an impact on the issue.
TL;DR : huge lag that makes the game barely playable unless I reboot it every 10-15 minutes, exploring caves is an absolute struggle given how long it takes.
Example screenshot. I’ve been there for like 2 minutes and the texture loaded in after around 30s, but the NPC is still MiA.
