I have the blueprints to build a bigger house but I was wondering if I could upgrade the shack I already built or if I'd have to just start over entirely (the shack took a lot of resources so I was hoping they wouldn't end up being a waste when it came time for a bigger house) if upgrade is possible, can someone explain how to do this??

it is sometimes a little finicky, but the blueprint for the upgraded house should snap to the existing house. just play around with it and let me know if that works for you!
I'm not sure how it's supposed to look when it snaps to the existing house, but I have a feeling mine hadn't done so haha
let me login to mine and i'll take a screenshot, but just line up the existing corners to the new blueprint and it should snap. it's not a dramatic snap, but you should be able to see it attach. i have a different house style but mine is currently snapped to so i can try to show what is looks like
here is what mine looks like. still in progress here
I think I may have gotten it!
that looks right! awesome!
Thank you so much!
anytime! i'm glad to help
even though the blue print snaps, its still a new house you are building over the old one, so you have to remove the old one or you get ugly glitches 😄
Do you have examples of the ugly glitches cause that shouldn't be the case..
i am sorry i did not make screenshots at that time, because it was clear to me what was happening, its just **overlapping two objects are creating visual clutter..., like flickering, **
when the dialog from the npc talking about upgrading the smaller variants into the bigger... i was expecting the true "upgrading" thing, like only using the difference in material , and converting into one single object. but i recon this might me difficult todo....
it was only by chance that i found out i can place a bigger house blueprint about a smaller one.
the only bad thing about it that i can get a bit iffy to try and delete the underlaying house without deleting the new one, cause there is not actual warning dialog for the deleting because you went for the the other way around the problem, doing it with a optin checkbox. ( which is also fine in the global context of the building implementation)
the visual clutter i had was with the modern house from cottage to the next step.
( i skipped the first two house iterations, because progress can happen pretty fast if you are plannning ahead 😀 , not really the cozy type of player here 😉 )
also kind on an issue is when you place two houses ontop of another you have to doors to open to get out. 😉
which lead to: "Oh there are two house now!, i just have to delete the old one"
Was this before or after the update that fixed the houses?
mh.. good question.. i thing that was after you fixed the loading issue, with the stuck tutorial,
because i started a new game, because the fix did not work for me in the "barrens" and starting over with a new game was the fastest way to keep playing.
mh.. did i miss or forgot anything about houses being fixed? i am sorry if something slipped my mind in that regard...
Yes. All the upgrading on houses was fixed in an update 🙂
