#Dirt Dauber as a Tier 4 Wasp variant

This is an excerpt from my long google doc of creature ideas.

Dirt Daubers act as a Tier IIII form of Wasp, though, unlike their tough relative, they are solitary creatures. They usually feast on nectar, but are still aggressive towards players. They might even be found attacking spiders, when not at their nests.

Their nests can be destroyed with a Tier IIII chopping tool, giving the recipient a material called Dauber Spittle. They are broken into many segments and can be used to make Daub in ovens for building, offering a brown, mud-like texture. When fighting them, they can throw bits of daub at the player, like an Orb Weaver shooting it’s web. This slows the player and decreases the speed at which they can block, encouraging a dodging playstyle when fighting them. Otherwise, the Dirt Dauber functions as a stronger Wasp, but notably flying less erratically.

They can drop their parts, head, and dauber spittle. The parts can most notably be used for the Sand Slinger, in combination with Antlion pieces. This unique weapon functions almost like a crossbow or firearm, though, primitive and not shooting a sharp projectile. If you have dauber spittle in your inventory, you can shoot it at your enemies, slowing them and dealing small amounts of damage. Like all status effects, if an enemy receives enough attacks from it they will be completely stuck and create an opening for attack. Finally, they have a rare chance to drop the Supreme Spittle, which acts as an unlimited source of ammo for the Sand Slinger.

Love everything but the sand slinger. They should drop their wings as a rare drop which you need for windowed dauber walls.

The dirt dauber I just love too watch them gather mud to build. It was very entertaining as a kid.

Definitely that.

I see why one might not like the Sand Slinger idea but I figured a weapon of some sort that uses mud would be neat

Maybe you could make mud rounds for turrets that can stop enemies in place

I would think 1 wing a window and when wings are dropped they always drop two.
I see it as just the opposite of anti player. You certainly wouldn't be making an entire wall of windows, but if you did that would probably be pretty cool, and the windows would look amazing. I think they would act as a prism to sunlight that comes through.
