Hey @fluid canopy you can try skewing or isometric plugins (assuming thats what you are trying to do)

I tried using the tool i forgot the name of, that let's you freely dislocate the edges of the shape. But it doesn't smart animate.

for me the link from the file goes here:

Creating a fake 3D Card Flip Animation in Figma. Since Figma doesn't support 3D here is a workaround to achieve a 3D-like card flip right inside Figma. You can also use the community file to directly insert your card design and ...

but i mean you can also just look at the file itself and see how their setup is. Didn't mean that you ave to watch the video

#
  • what i meant is that you can check the prototype view of either this or my file to see if this is what you wanna do in the first place

Yeah I did watch that but that's not what I meant. To be specific, I'm trying to make a metroUI project similar to windows 8

coarse geyser

not sure what you mean exactly by "similar to windows 8"

I'm talking about making an object spin around as if it's 3d. The edit object feature lets me change the positions of the edges of the selected shape. But it doesn't smart animate it.

That card animation is not flipping in a 3D way.

That card animation is not flipping in a 3D way. - you mean in the files i shared?

fluid canopy
#

Yes.

#

There is no perspective in the duration of flipping.

coarse geyser
#

ah okay by 3d way, do you mean like in your video for example, it seems to come closer / bigger?

fluid canopy
#

I'm trying to do something similar to this.

fluid canopy
#

I assume there isn't any way to do so.

coarse geyser
#

this is kinda where i could geeet it to

#

though i think the 3d-ness (making it seem like it is coming closer) is partly just tweaking the size of the thing and perhaps the duration of things

#

and this is basically the same as the card flip from the tutorials, but making the second state enlarged

yeah figma doesnt have rotation like that exactly. you could try to understand the logic behind the card flip and see if it could be applied here in any way, Basically seeing how you could use maskign to make it work

#

In the card one they only use 2 states which might be your problem, and you might want multiple ones

#

but the masking might be the secret to make smart animate work

fluid canopy
#

How would masking work?

coarse geyser
#

(if it is possible with figma at all)

I don't want to get my hopes up, but thank you for trying to help.

I get that it doesnt look exactly how you want it to look yet, but from what you have, the missing part is to animate the flipping part
