Looking for some advice on this deck, but a few 'rules' to keep in mind for how im building it.

  1. I like how storvald gives all my creatures ward 3, and hes just right colors. I will not change the commander.

  2. i dont care about the other abilities and am not looking to build around them.

  3. Im tired of staples, i will not be using arcane signet, sol ring, rhystic study, or other strong "must run" cards. Ill save those for my more competitive decks.

  4. Im not too fond of recent sets so ill mostly focus on older cards, without a concern about how strong or weak older cards are. power creep is lame anyway.

  5. im mostly just running counterspells to stop boardwipes and major win swings.

  6. id also like to keep it on the cheaper end, under 300, no card over 15-20ish, if i can.

I dont have much of a direction the deck right now, looking at swinging unblocked to get draw triggers, to get to whatever my eventual wincon is. maybe make storvald unblockable for commander damage.

You mentioned not building around the other abilities, which one are you focusing on?

#

The ward 3 bit?

yes.

#

give my little guys ward 3, make them unblockable, draw card on attack triggers, ....., win.

Sounds like a solid plan

#

What, to you, is “old” vs. “new”?

#

I would offer something like [[coastal piracy]] and friends, but wasn’t sure how new I could go with those versions

how is coatal piracy so cheap? it seems good. youd think itd be worth at least 5 bucks.
funilly i think i might have an 8th edition foil of it.
