Hi, everyone! I've recently build Niv-Mizzet, Parun for kitchen-table commander with friends and it's fun so far!
I won a bunch of games due to combo resolving, but in the other games and even in the won games before combo, I felt like I haven't been doing much of anything, not putting out noteworthy pressure. Especially ran out of cards very quickly. I think the deck can do much better! My current brew is

where cards I have considered for upgrades but don't have yet are in the Maybeboard.
I'd greatly appreciate your recommendations for cuts and upgrades (budget for upgrades is roughly 50€). Thanks in advance! 🫶

If someone could look over my maybeboard and tell which cards there wouldn't be worth it to get, that would already help a lot! :)

I noticed the lack of Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, or the one ring in your list. Do you consider those cards too powerful?

#

Are there any cards or combos you don’t want to include? I understand that you want to keep this casual, but there is a way to have a powerful edh deck without making it Cedh. Just want to know the Rule Zero conversations you have with your playgroup.

Ngl, I think before anything you need to focus on one strategy

#

Because this looks like it wants to be two different decks

#

And those two strategies don't necessarily help each other

There's missing tutors and not really enough protection for the combo side, and a different commander would probably just serve better for the storm/spellslinger side

If you want to do combos, leaning into it is more powerful but spellslinger will be more friendly... relatively speaking.

For Spellslinger deck this is the closest I can get to $100 and still be a little competitive but not over the top. Should have a lot of Draw power which is what you want in this deck and let your pingers take care of most of the problems. Try it out and just incorporate what you like into your deck and let me know what you think.

will come up with a draw token version as soon as i can

#

and I am in no way trying to change your deck. Just the optimal cards that make the deck do what it is trying to do... I always suggest to look at my list and even try them out and see what you like and what you don't... DM me if you have any questions. Have fun.
