[[Elspeth, Sun's Champion]] makes soldiers like nobody's business, and [[Elspeth, Knight-Errant]] is a great way to "jump" your commander when not in need of more soldiers

The tax only breaks even with Sphere of Resistance if 3+ spells are being cast, and I've found that the "lands can't tap for multiple" is much less relevant than I thought. You can also power through it with a lot of Treasures or Dockside or whatever. I would just run any hard ROL effect over Sphere

Deafening Silence shreds the setup process, though (since you can't tutor and immediately go off with Thoracle), and answers Naus and Breach. It also prevents them from casting protective countermagic.

My actual cEDH lists are Hapatra Stax and Light-Paws Stax (I'll tag you in my brewing thread) and Damping Sphere got cut from there over time 😦 I did try it, I wanted the card to work.

As an addendum to the previous topic, I would run EVERY Rule of Law effect in here.
Myrel breaks parity really well on them, and they're one of the only types of stax that's socially acceptable(ish) in lower power
OG ROL, Eidolon, Ethersworn, Deafening, Phyrexian Censor, Archon
(I don't consider Damping Sphere to be a ROL effect since it's a softer piece of stax)
