#(2-7-23) From a lore perspective, what's your favorite MtG antagonist? What about mechanically?

My favourite? Nahiri!
Shes very understandable, human, falliable, relateable.
Amongst so many villains in MTG that are Badguy McEvil its nice to have one that is shades of grey.
Mechanically: Eldrazi. I like them in flavour too, but they gave colourless an identity that wasn't just "broken artifacts".
Yawgmoth. Father of machines. Dad of phyrexia.
He a great villain. Smart, cunning and efficient
Peter Steele at home
Tezzeret
you might be the first person I've met who LIKES Tezzeret lol
Tolerates is more likely
Like let us remember sarkhan vol was the Badie that got swapped for tezzeret by bolas
Or was that fixed after shards during the first zendikar block mtg lore not my strongest point of memory
I like Tezzzie... He is like dark Jace
Bother where pawns for bolas though🤔
Talking strictly lore, definitely gonna have to go with Chainer, maybe Braids, and just the Cabal in general.
The cabal made the death worms and the mirrari interesting...
I loved the nightmares
Phyrexia as a whole is just a really cool antagonist.
While they are a scary force to be reckoned within the story, what's even more scary is how this translates into the cards. A lot of phyrexian cards are just...really good, and they fit in many decks. So you have to make an active effort not to play phyrexian cards, eg resisting its influence, lest you implicitly allign yourself with Phyrexia by corrupting your deck with its oil.
Nah, good cards are good cards
I mean yea, this is purely from a flavor perspective
I like Tezzeret as a villain. He sort of fits in the same role as the Master in Doctor Who or Starscream in Transformers.
I like that he has a complicated backstory that at no point tries to make him sympathetic
The most is maybe his childhood but it really has no bearing on a lot of his actions as an adult.
Tezzie tried to save a poor child and rescue Esper... He is a hero for the latter and a fool for the former... But he is our damned fool
Fair. I'm curious to know if what happened to Jace and having a mostly new body will "help" him be more competent.
Lore wise it's definitely Urabrask
