The issue suddenly fixed itself after ~40min of playing. If it is just that, it still shouldn't take that long.

I've discovered that my internet got suddenly snailificated, so that's probably the cause somehow
i'm surprised how little throughput TETR.IO requires
If it can run on 62 KB/s with almost no lag
