I usually play the game at school on their computers, every time I login I need to configure my (very confusing) settings. I got it down to a science at this point but I found it very annoying to begin with, I just feel like this would be an amazing Qol update, so please. Make the settings save to my account, not to the computer.

I believe this has been suggested already
Also, cue that one "stop playing at school" tweet
the game has an option to export your config to a file, so you can save that to a thumb drive or, if allowed, the computer and easily use that
Can confirm this saved me a ton of time at LAN events. I just saved it to a random server and downloaded it when needed. Though the option for account-bound settings would be more convenient than downloading the file onto a new device every time you log into one. Assuming you had the config for every user ever created that would only be like.. 20GB? Not a massive ask in terms of server space considering a single replay can be many hundreds of times larger than a config file and each user gets the last ten saved from their TL matches. I assume you could cut down on this by only generating a config when a user changes a setting past the default to save space on dead accounts and potentially any that stick with default settings.
an issue is which settings you save
there is some jank with how some settings are hardwarebou- yeah
graphics settings can depend on the device
even controls can, kinda
i also know some people prefer different handlings on different keyboards
so its a bit funky to consider what to save
i mean ig that too could be an option but yk
something that might be possible to save the settings per account locally?
for registered ones only
or maybe even just on a per name basis? but
that's a problem cuz of localstorage size
that's gonna be something that has to touch indexeddb probably
so it's a lot more complicated than it might seem at first
I can only see that being useful on private shared computers
it's not uncommon for public computers to have their site data wiped regularly
this is like a triple duped request but now with all the direct developer comments i don't know if it's ethical to scratch them
i think ppl want it
honestly makes sense, ig you could use a "save settings" feature that would save it to your acc?
apolagies for bad wrighting, did it with mouse
it already does, no?
like, if you close out of the page, then when u open it back up it has the same controls
or do they wipe when you logout too
they don't, that's the issue
well in general tetr.io assumes 1 computer → 1 user
only when that falls apart is there an issue
no lol
id probably want to be able to just choose (on an account level) what to sync
obvious choices are [ Nothing ] and [ Everything ] but the default should be somewhere in the middle and idk what it is lol
u should js do that for now, itd be an amazing plus and u can add more whenever, or with the new ui revamp
"Save Settings to Cloud" should be an opt-in feature given people can create accounts within a minute and you can get overloaded by sheer quantity if someone had ill intentions
I had an idea cooking where people can have three slots for configs with cooldowns on how often you can overwrite/delete them but that still ran into the original issue of "this gets wonky the moment you add other devices and hardware" so I never actually mentioned it here

you could have one configuration set to the account, and every device can copy those settings but you can still freely modify them
so if someone's settings are mostly the same, they can import a sort of "default" setting and then modify anything they want
and then to make a new default there would just be a button somewhere

please guys I've been wanting this for years, clearly quite a few have
Here's the thing. Just because you saved those settings doesn't mean that the settings will work on different machines.
I mainly play at a 60-120Hz monitor with a decent enough CPU, RAM and GPU to play, but I recently tried renting a PC playing on a 144Hz monitor and more powerful GPU and CPU and my controls feels WAY more slippery than normal.
So, unless the PC you're using is actually good enough and you already adjusted those settings, it doesn't mean that it will translate to other hardware.
This is coming from experience here.
handling at the least probably
handling is like must-have on the theoretical default list
I think

Just trying to bump this for osk! Id still love this to be a feature, and I still don't think it would be too hard, plus you could keep it as another thing for supporters 👌

go to tetrio browser -> config go all the way down and export the config, Then open tetrio desktop, go to config and then drag the config file onto the game
oops i deleted, but i do know thats a thing, and i did before you replied (which is why i deleted)
but still i do use another pc anyway, so im bumping to this so that it might get implemented
